LOL owned! How's that work? Anyone under 18 can't be on the phone while driving?

cmspaz 03-31-2010 09:25 AM

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

Yep. That changed right after I turned 18, and I was worried about getting pulled over for no reason.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

Alrighty, update time.

Called the body shop, and as I was expecting, the extra damage was a slightly bent rail, which as of now is already straightened. The core support is off the car, they have everything but the core support and bumper. The core support will be there in time to have everything back together by the end of the work week, but the bumper won't be there until Monday. Finding a temporary bumper is out of the question due to them having the new one on order, which is also the reason I can't get my hands on a IX bumper at this point.

The story on the bumper is that it's Mitsu's fault, not theirs. The service rep tried to get me a new bumper originally, and Mitsu said no, we're going to recondition it, and that failed. So now they're stuck waiting for a new one to get shipped like they wanted originally.

Overall the body shop's been fairly prompt in getting work done, but they're stuck waiting for parts.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

Glad to hear you got an update. "Reconditioned" bumpers are almost always a failure.

Glad it's coming together. A body shop is one buisness I wouldn't rush
(I'd just pound the shit out of the loaner)

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

So why the fuck do they do it? It makes zero sense to me when the body shop ordered a new one, and Mitsu told them no. Who are they to decide what the body shop, me, and the insurance company do? Since when does what's going on my car concern them to the point where they have to control it? And now I don't have my car for this weekend because of it.

And I wish I had a loaner, I'm back in the Talon and starting to get pissed about it.

Kracka 03-31-2010 11:09 AM

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

I've heard of insurance companies requesting a reconditioned bumper be used, but never the dealership.

cmspaz 03-31-2010 11:13 AM

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

Well if that's the case I'll be speaking with the claims rep. And there won't be any happy words.

Kracka 03-31-2010 11:14 AM

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

I know for the WRX the price different between reconditioned and brand new was only $40.

cmspaz 03-31-2010 11:22 AM

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

Jesus, really? I pay those fuckers $180 a month and they're denying me my car for another week over $40?

I guess I should have gotten a rental, I'll definitely be seeing if I can still get one just to screw them.

That right there is bullshit. Mitsu does not recondition bumpers. They only sell new ones. My guess is that the insurance wanted to go with a reconditioned bumper, but they weren't able to get one since the Evo isn't exactly a common car. I wouldn't want a reconditioned bumper anyways, most of the time they fit like garbage and sometimes the repairs made to them are totally obvious and not done properly.

This.

Most likely it was the insurance company wanting a used bumper because it costs less for them.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

The body shop might have wanted to fix your bumper and keep the money for a replacement as well. Not sure if you will ever be able to get the real answer just talking to the body shop if that is the case.

Kevin 1G Drummer 03-31-2010 07:16 PM

Re: Spazzy's new Evo

^^ That is very illegal. If a shop gets caught doing that, they face some pretty hefty fines.

It's Luther's body shop, I highly doubt they'd do anything like that.

Sorry you're getting jerked around so much with this. Any news on the dumb girl that hit you? If by some chance you can prove she was on the phone while driving, does that help you out insurance wise? Hope the car gets fixed and back to you, soon.

Remember spazzy, if this thing touches anything but tarmac on this cruise, including cutting corners, your ass is grass!

Don't make me sick Craig's baby on you.

Yep there was a black big winged car at my place tonight. Aly said spaz was going to park in the narrow street when our drive way holds at least 12 cars

Im a photographer and i got no problem whipping out the cellphone or point and shoot when there is nothing else, you miss out on a lot when you get the mentalitly that it has to be perfect or 100% cause then you walk away with nothing, my 2cents on photography.

See previous pics, with a completely attached lip and a straightened plate bracket.

Beyond that, you can't tell.

Shawn was the one who convinced me to do it, and he was a bit jealous after we were done.

IX's have a much lower compression spec than VIII's do so they really can't be compared.

How is that? I thought they were both 8.8:1 ?
