The MAC Novice Autocross school is on April 24th & 25th. That's the only firm date for an event...that I've seen. I'm stamping a registration envelope right now. I'll be in the "guys with a nice car that doesn't know how to drive" class. You know you wanna go. :D

I would just stay home then cause it wastes a lot of time cleaning up after leaky/blowed up shit.

Yeah, if you know it'll break, might as well try to find someone to share a car with if you're going to be doing anything.

I sure do wanna go, but I'll still here in OK, although I think their auto-x and/or road racing starts next month. :Flush:

So update, I'm highly considering doing the MAC Novice school on April 24-25th:
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=10838

Rosey expressed interest too. $50 for 1 day of classroom and 1 day of autoX, should be great fun! Might just get me over my cone-dodging jokes ;)

Who all is thinking about doing the BMW event on May 15-16? We're talking about doing he spring dyno day that weekend, and I wanna exclude as few people as possible.

Also, what's going on drag-wise late May, early June? Seems like a good time to go.

I'll blow my piece up late may early june. I hate being in love.

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

I'm already signed up for the MAC school. The treasurer sent me an email last night because I didn't fill out the form completely. Oops.

Dyno day is fine. Birperformance does HPDE at BIR like 4+ days per month all summer long. I'm not concerned about not finding track time or anything...

Online registration. It didn't specify anything about mail-ins so I did.

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

Updated first post w/ some tenitive dates, and a link to Rock Fall's 2010 schedule.

Their first sport compact day is on April 11th. That's too near to the cruise and MAC Novice School dates for my comfort, so I think I'd like to eye a date in late May for doing drag, otherwise MAP's Proving Grounds event will be the first drag event for me. Would anyone want to go on May 22 or 23 for their testing days?

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

Sport compact days suck balls. Way too many cars and not enough runs. You can usually count on two hands how many cars are running faster than 13 seconds. Go to a test and tune or fun day.

Yea, so we should be the quickest there, unless we newbs can't drive..

I really like BIR on Wednesday nights, early in the season most people can get on 15-20 runs pretty easily. Though I wouldn't mind checking out RF once this year

Yea, I have been to brainerd on a wednesday night..a bit more difficult for me these days being as I live so far south..

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

I'd kinda like to go to BIR for MAPs event in June, then again later in the summer, and hit rock falls sometime earlier in the year and/or at the end of the season. I know it'll be hard to actually make many of these, but if we can focus a group of people on one or two days, it will be tons of fun!

Would May 22/23 T&T work for people? If I do it, I want to be damn sure that if my car breaks I'm ready for MAP's event at the end of June.

Well if you ever wanted to come up for a wed. night and crash, I have 2 couches at my place! I only live an hour from BIR

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

That's a possibility Mike.

Scheides, I'll prolly make the event, but no guarentees as of yet, since I'm waiting on things to settle down and the car to come together..

Since my weekends are Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, I might take you up on that offer too. I'd really like to try to make it to one or two of these this summer.

I guess I disagree. I went on a SC day last year. Yeah true it was busy, but things moved along well. You could usually make a run every 30minutes or so if you wanted, which for me worked out perfect because I like to let the car cool down. So while sure it's busy, it's not a big deal because the lines went at a steady pace. I wasn't being quick about getting in line most of the time, but I still made 6 passes before deciding to leave. I could have done a couple more if I would have chose to stay longer.

This sounds like a hell of a time! I'm super interested. I won't be able to do it this year, but I'll definitely come and be part of the support crew.

I'm not a big 1/4 mile guy anymore. I'm just scared of breaking something off the launch.

I've always wanted to get in to AutoX. And since it seems a lot of other people on here are interested I'll definitely sign on for 2011 season!

So Lomker, Rosey, and I are going to attend the Novice School in April:

http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=10838

Mail-in registration now, or register online in 2 weeks. Apparently it fills up in like 48 hours, so get on it if you plan on doing this.

Anyone else in? Anna (my wife) and Racheal (Rosey's GF) might be attending as well.

Awesome, guys! I go to help out with the schools but not much else. I'm not an instructor so I can't ride with or drive that day.

Matt D. 02-10-2010 01:30 PM

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

Another shameless plug...

The money spent on the two-day novice school is easily the best money you will ever spend toward becoming a better driver. Saturday is spent in a classroom going over what autocross is all about, general driving techniques and getting your car teched. Sunday is spent driving all day. You will have an instructor with you at all times. Your final run of the day is done solo is you so choose. The instructors in our local club are the best that money can't buy, meaning they are free. The instructors do not get paid anything.

Regardless of your interest in autocross I highly suggest this if you are interested in being able to toss your car aound and learn more about your car's limits and yourself as a driver without having to worry about getting in trouble.

As has always been said, autocross is the most fun you can have in a car with your clothes on.

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

Seat time is seat time is seat time, etc. Do the Novice School. I want to see everyone in this thread's name on the list or a damn good reason for it not to be (and no, not having a good handling car is not a good reason). You want to start competing with your car, learning it is the first step, period.

On a side note, I'm getting seriously close to having labor be the only thing standing between now and having this car where I want it to be for this season.

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League

I'm in OK and I need a tune so not on the list, but if car gets tuned there are auto-x down here starting next week I think.

spaz, maybe you should put in a plug these classes don't turn you into a a great driver that should drive like a moron on the street.

Whathuh? I get what you're trying to say here, but holy fuck that was hard to read. Believe me, I know nobody here takes me seriously, and I don't give a fuck. I may not be the best driver, but at least I can type better than a third grader.

I've done the Novice school back in like 2007 in my brother's car and it's probably one of the funnest automotive events I've ever been too. Right now, I'm contemplating about keeping the Galant so I can actually go to these events with it!
