Scheides, you know I'll volunteer before I'm asked to help out with stuff, assuming I'm not working.

Modern really needs to get a screen up that everyone can see like DB has. Not actually seeing the curve or the numbers takes about 1/2 the fun of the dyno day away (plus what a car does on the dyno IS the point). Yeah, people sometimes yell out numbers, but I care more about the curve than the peak numbers that don't mean much.

I also didn't like the fact that they weren't logging boost, at least the last dyno day I ran mine at. It's well known that many times the boost differs considerably on the dyno vs the street, plus some people adjust the boost for the dyno.

MAP - get a monitor up, it would make the day much more fun.

Its cool that you want to question every little detail, perhaps you would care to volunteer to help us out for the day? That would be the most helpful :)

LOL not questioning any detail, I meant that like worrying about "internet geeks" strapping the cars not actually letting people.. haha

Not to start some more OT stuff but putting straps on is not rocket science. kinda hard to mess up at strapping a car lol (If someone doesnt know how/where to strap a car they shouldn't be working with cars).. Then again I drive a tow truck so I am used to strapping cars down so it might make my judgment on it a little different.

Definitely going to be there. Time to find out what the car can do!

Gotta get that wideband installed though.

Ok, well I've built my car myself with the help of a couple friends, and I wrench on cars for a living but I don't have any idea where would be the optimal place to strap my car down. Does that mean I should sell my tools and my car, or start paying a shop to mod and repair my car?

I'm not trying to start an argument here, but not everyone knows the best way to strap down a car. That's why I choose leave something as important as that to the people who have done it thousands of times and know the best way to do it.

Ultimately, if you've seen one car almost jump off the dyno in person, its enough to leave it to the shop to do while I worry about getting cars lined up to dyno :D

So, I see lots of discussion and only a few cars signed up....let's go people, its only a little over a week away!

Apparently you haven't stopped by recently sir ;) We have had a 24" monitor in the viewing window and the ability to log boost for quite some time now :)

^lol. Scheides, you KNOW every dyno day there is, I help out, grab ice/buns, etc. So, I'll continue to do so as well this time, and every other time!

Strapping cars down isn't that hard. I'd say the hardest car i've had to strap down was at a mazda day, and that beautiful blue one (also owns that white evo 9 w/advan rgII wheels) had this huge CF undertray in the back, and the car was already sitting low to the ground, so the tray had to come off. Either way, cars are not too terrible to strap down.

I think the turbo Geo made like 60 or 75 hp, I forget exactly what it was, but I know it wasn't much. The exhaust manifold was awesome too. Basically 1.5" square tubing he welded together. Every bend in it was a sharp 90* angle.

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno Day - Oct 3rd @ MAP

It did get by far the most attention of any car there though. There was a crowd around it.

Shane wore the helmet in case it blew up, the car also had a nitrous system on it with like a 50 shot....it put down a blazing 65whp IIRC, which is actually amazing, those cars make 65hp @ the crank from the factory, it was old and beat up, and ran a perfect 14.7 AFR all the way to redline, boost and all. Shane never did hit the NOS, he was afraid it was gonna let go....flywheels and rods could prolly fly pretty easily through that itsy bitsy firewall...

Hey If you could give me a ride in this thing that would be sweet, since our setups are so similar.
