Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Can't you just take out the nuts holding the manifold on, back the manifold off an inch to slip a nut on the threads then put it back on? I think that's what some X guys have to do with their tubular mani's.

The problem isn't getting the nut on its that the stud is so long that it will hit the manifold when I tighten the nuts down...

Nice progress, sucky about the mani.

Did you cut that damn stud yet?

Setup is looking awesome Chris!!

Can I just cut it? I would think that if I cut it that the nut wouldnt go on?

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Make sure you put the nut on the stud first before you cut it. That way when you back the nut off the stud it will help fix the threads if they aren't perfect. I've always smoothed the edges of the stud a little bit before backing off the nut.

I think you were right. Are set ups are identical for bolt on's. The only thing is I have the 2.4. Proving grounds will be fun this year, Im just suprised I guess there were only a few 2g's around. When you getting tuned?

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Thanks I will prob do that tonight or tomorrow and see how it works!

Some shots as the car sits as of tonight when I got frustrated and left it due to the radiator hose..

So you all are aware I am getting that dump tube ceramic coated as well and am just using is for mock up at this moment.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Have you homie J-funk, move the outlet on the radiator, its honestly a 10 min job.

Good luck, you gonna run some 11s at 140 this year? lol

Halon 04-25-2011 09:09 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

damn sucks about the hose. Wasn't an issue on mine since the hose connects to the radiator in a different spot on 1G's I guess. Might want to look into getting a custom hard hose welded up. Or move the radiator outlet towards the passenger side a little and maybe see if you can run a 1G hose.

GsXtUrBo98 04-25-2011 09:26 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I'll take a look into bringing it up to primo and maybe having them move the location tomorrow I guess.. This one cought me off guard as I was not expecting the radiator hose to touch..:frown:

As for Aaron my goal is to run faster then 11.37 I believe that was the best Kevin got in his old talon!

turbotalon1g 04-25-2011 09:57 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

^hahaha, that a boy. make it 10.37 and that would be a doable challenge.

Good luck this year, I hope you hit the 140 we were talking about.

Jeez at this rate my Evo might be done before your Eclipse!
And it was 11.40@131. Pretty easy to beat ;)

Well looks like I will be dropping off my radiator at primo to have this welded where the hose goes to in the picture... This is more then I was hoping on doing..

On a side note I called SLS about this fitment problem and they blew me off saying that they installed it on multiple cars and never had a problem. So I told him that 1Gs have the hose located in a different spot and asked if they sold a different upper radiator hose to correct this problem and he told me to "lengthen my stock upper hose" as if I can lengthen a radiator hose that's cut to stock spec! SLS service :crapper:

I have a never ending hassle with this car.. FML

On another side note thanks Aaron for the radiator hose! As always a good guy to bs with.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Well been working too much so gonna have to see if I can bring that radiator up to primo on Friday after work..

Does anyone have any other ideas besides doing the rewelding of the radiator? Already tried shortening the hose and still hits..

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Make a hard pipe like the supra guys run with couplers on the ends.

GsXtUrBo98 04-27-2011 07:19 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I would think that would take more time and money..

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

^I could help with that, but I'd need to know what shape it has to be in.

Stop by this weekend and we can figure it out. also leave our transaction review in my thread and the link on that page too.

Sorry to see SLS's customer service hasn't changed.

Lemme know if there's anything I can help with. I'm back in town finally.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I guess I don't see what the problem with the radiator is? Isn't that the normal location for a 2g radiator hose? Or does the 2g hose hit your exhaust manifold?

GsXtUrBo98 04-28-2011 02:49 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Yes to both questions

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

SS piping is cheap and i know someone with a new welder that can weld it to the right shape. will look real nice too instead of a rubber hose.

My car officially has POWER! electric power that is... But the battery relocation wiring is complete besides making it look nicer.
