Throw some ice bags on the FMIC :)
Good luck, sounds like a solid build.

484hp 405tq at 32psi faling to 30psi with full spool at 4400rpm. Couldn't go anymore because of compressor surge. I'm happy :) Another happy Shane customer.

wow. awesome numbers! that's definitely 500+ at the crank...im sure if the weather was just a bit colder, maybe 500 could have been there. both ways...I want a ride in that beast! :D

Damn, nice numbers, 484 on shanes is serious power.

Glad the roads dried for the ride home, man was it a blast. He said we could of pushed it over but I said no because of compressor surge. The turbo is spooling too quick for my setup. Oh well now it's time to have fun. What kind of car to do for my next build hmmm?

Wow, those are awesome numbers man!!

That has to be the highest HP SCM61 at DB then huh? I know Mara's 1g did 485, but that is a T3.

Post up some dyno sheets!!

Woohoo! That is some ass-kickin power dude! I honestly was kinda thinking you might run into some problems, I'm SO HAPPY everything went smoothly! Finally some bad-ass power on a good setup. Now, keep it RUNNING and start modding that evo ;)

heh, 484whp on shane's dyno in AWD is more like 600 at the crank :)

damn, i won't be at the meet...for a while, softball is on wednesday's now.

Post em later, i wanna see this curve, that is awesome torque and spool, oh and HP:)

95talonracer 05-26-2010 11:14 AM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

shane said it spools too quick for that turbo that's why I get surge right when the boost peaks at 32. Il look into an antisurge cover possibly or just no rolling into boost on the street which is fine too.

goodhart 05-26-2010 11:21 AM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

4" S cover ftw?

scheides 05-26-2010 11:29 AM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

Def just swap in an S-cover man. The anti-surge ports will....help prevent surge! :D (amazing, I know!)

95talonracer 05-26-2010 11:54 AM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

well I would need that and dual springs in my tial because the boost falls off to 30 by 7k. The thing is I don't think the "S" cover is a direct swap. Looks like the backing plate is different as well.

turbotalon1g 05-26-2010 11:54 AM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

SP cover ftw, hopefully. Maybe bigger turbo time!!! I'm sorry I shouldn't of said that.
I can't wait to see this thing tonight.

Shane@DBPerformance 05-26-2010 11:59 AM

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

If you have an E-cover, then an S-cover won't be a direct swap. From an S-cover to a ported shroud S-cover should be.

Full spool by 4400 and 484whp, uh yea, just rock it and enjoy it, you are faster than 99% of whats out there.

Maybe Shane will post them.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

I sware there was a graph where we made a run and it fully spooled by 4400 rpm. Well in any case it still spools crazy and is just a blast to drive. I only have a 1 bar spring in the wastegate and am debating throwing dual springs in it to hold boost up top and see if it hits over 500 then. Besides that, I am finally done with this project besides upkeeping it and cleaning up the interior. Its daily drive ability is actually really good besides just a very small bit of studdering from the huge injectors at low speeds in a high gear and the little bit stiffer clutch but nothing that will stop me from driving it whenever. I made a good run against Halon as posted in the 2010 kills thread and did pretty good against his beast of a car.

Spool is all relative. Maybe it hit "full spool" at 4400 when we were running lower boost. You have 25psi before 4400. If you were only running 15psi, then you would have full spool by 4000. I don't think you need to spool any faster since it already has compressor surge. :)

Ya that is what I was thinking. Numbers don't mean anything. This thing is very fun, pretty fast, spools real quick, and drives amazing when I daily drive it surprisingly. Thanks Shane! Also do you have my corrected numbers graph. Someone on here was wondering what the numbers were.

Fuck numbers keep handing people there ass, I'm sure there are no shortage of V8 crap up by you to surprise.

Congrats dude, and that 1600 cruise miss you have is common, if you solve that you might have a secret worth some $$$.

Let me know next time you come to blaine, i want a ride.

You got it! It hardly misfires too under normal driving so I am very happy. It got 300% better after Shane tuned it.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

I forgot about those, but the point in buying the old school 1600s was not to pay $500 for injectors when u could just get the IDs.
But touche.

Also that vid linked on the page shows DSMlinks individual injector and there adjustment in deadtime down to 1 microsecond increments instead of 15 microseconds, which Kerry if you have shane might be able to get those injectors even better!!

very true! The new injectors are much much better then the old style 1600's. I'll be running the 1600's for now and maybe later this year I'll upgrade to 2150's.

Re: Project Spyder 2009 Build

It barely studders from the 1600's at all to the car is staying the way it is.
