Re: Project AutoX domination!
Gotcha! Well if you need any couplers, I think I have some assorted 2.5" couplers laying around that you could probably have for dirt cheap.
If you can't tell, I'm trying to unload some of my extra sh!t that I don't need and is laying around!! |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
On a plus not I have access to a beed roller at the new job, that will save a TON of time and welding gas.

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/PICT2050.JPG http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/PICT2045.JPG If you look at the top right tire, you can see a little line on it from where it rubbed the fender. A bit of fender rolling should have it taken care of I think. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/PICT2058.JPG I also ordered vacuum hose, couplers, a BOV flange, and a new brake booster check valve. My FMIC project is starting to come together. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Looks sticky :D
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Looks awesome! Those wheels make any car look good. I would like a ride with those tires on sometime.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
That looks pretty mean, I like that they stick out just a bit. Very nice.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Very very nice!!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Awesome! The tires don't really stick out as far as I thought they would. It looks good man!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Thanks guys! I think I like it just as much as I would have liked the other ones I was looking at.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
That is absolute sex man. You NEED to bring that down to one of the Winona Autox's.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Looks awesome! Hope you can fix the rubbing issue!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Awesome, Ryan. Two thumbs up.
You wouldn't be looking for a co-pilot, would you? :drive1: *flashes money for tires* |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
That would make things interesting! If you want to at a few events (or all year) I would be game. It would be nice to be able to compare directly with someone. I do have two numbers reserved as well (122 and 212 I think). I'm thinking I should be pretty close to Lindstrom's M3, unless he put more goodies on it. I was already towards the top running the star specs anyway. Although I will be doing MOWOG2 in the EBS, I still have to get to the event.
I'm not too concerned about the rubbing as of now, but with more grip(weight transfer) it might be a little more of an issue than I think. I can always raise the car up 1/2" or so if I have to. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
very nice car I have always LOVED them!

And how did you score a ride in the EBS?! For anyone questioning what the EBS is, it's the Evil Bar of Soap. It was a Miata at one point in its life until it had a run in with a guy with an idea and a SawzAll. http://www.mnautox.com/forums/image....ine=1214898065 As his signature says on the autocross forum: "280whp + 1,930lb + 10.3" wide Hoosiers + Sawzall + really big wing = Zoom Zoom! Re: Project AutoX domination!
That car was the roughest ride of my life.

P.S. Matt, I started a thread on MN AX to get a little better idea on how long the tires will last. After I have a better idea I'll shoot you a PM. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Not much of an update, but I started working on the brake line & pad install. I also ordered a MaxQ Data logger. It's a GPS based unit, 5Hz update rate. A number of people use them and reccomend one. I figure I'm modding the car, I might as well spend some money of the important bit (ME).

Re: Project AutoX domination!
Awesome man. Wheels look good.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
I have the front fenders rolled/flared. Looks like they should clear easily now.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
Mmmm, negative camber...
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
MMM this will be a fun ride to tune :). I am assuming we'll be using street rubber?
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
CAN i ride along? actually i need to stay away from that thing makes me want to get one.

And yes Josh, street tires. The new tires are mega bucks, mostly for the fact that is doesn't last very long when you drive hard on them. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
sexay!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Edit: Ditching the AC. Must go faster... I should probably swap my CF hood over too.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Leave the A/C. You need any help removing it?
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
It's half gone already. As are the stock IC's and piping. FMIC on the way!

FMIC, I can haz too? I am sure my stock car would love one. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
^what?
If you are taking out the AC, does that mean more weight is coming out? |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Possibly, I am considering going full SM prep with it. Which would mean very little interior, and a bunch of other stuff. Need light weight seats as well, 80lbs is way to heavy for the drivers seat.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!

If you strip a 3/S, can't you get them down to about the weight of a fully loaded DSM? |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
I was just looking at the rules again. I can't strip it, I was looking at the wrong category yesterday. But yes, with some light weight parts, and some parts removal, 3300lbs is achievable with most of the interior. Going to the extreme end of the scale there are a couple out the that are ~2850 with driver. The one that runs 8's is that light.

What can't you strip out of it? I thought I read I could strip most of the interior but have to leave things like the dash and heater setup intact and fully working for SM. You can remove a/c and p/s and stereo though I know for sure. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Put starquest seats in it, they definately aren't 80 lbs, and knowing mitsu, they bolt right in.
|

Per the SM rules: back seats and seat belts, radio and speakers, but not the wiring. The rules of Stock, Street Touring and Street Prepared can be used as well, but I read through all those and SM is the only one that even lets you take out the back seat and belts. When I go for seats, I think some nice 11lb Kirkey race seats will be the way to go. |
