Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Still have them laying around? I wouldn't mind trying them out on her car. She has Eibach Prokit lowering springs so her suspension is a bit stiffened up.

Yeah I do. I was going to offer them but I forgot. Come get them anytime, or remind me.

Redline GL-5 75W-90 in the rear diff and Redline GL-5 75W-90NS in the transmission as of this morning :D I would have preferred Mobil 1 GL-5 75W-90 in the rear diff, but the parts store I went to before heading to MAP for the Redline didn't have any in-stock.

Birthday Presents From Christopher!!! (Kracka)

Today I got two gauges from Christopher! I got a boost and a voltage gauge. We're going to pick up a pillar gauge pod from MAP soon and get them installed!:Banane56:
^^^^ He's installing it!

I think this should be your next mod:

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...-WRXSHIELD.jpg
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26um%3D1

And then maybe some of the longer exhaust hangers also, cause if I can remember your muffler was touching your bumper and after the exhaust shield it may need some extra clearance.

Kracka 05-31-2009 06:41 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Agreed.

That'll be damn sexy. Do it!

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

LOL yes yes I know! But what about the end links and new brakes I have waiting to be installed? Or how about getting my gauge pod in properly. I now have wires poking out of nowhere...

In due time. I figure the icky black smudge can't get much worse at this point anyway! =)

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Where are the wires poking out? It was fine yesterday :(

Your new Girodisc Magic brake pads arrived today!

cmspaz 06-01-2009 08:34 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

What makes them magic? Do they not fade? Do they add HP? Do they produce 1.21 Jiggawatts and send you back to 1985?

Kracka 06-01-2009 08:37 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Better initial bite, less dust, and less noise compared to stock pads. Girodisc decided they're so amazing they named them Magics. Nice looking pads though, they came with new shims and everything.

goodhart 06-01-2009 08:38 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

aahhhh, I haven't done them but endlinks look like about a 20 minute job and it can't take chris more than an hour or so for brakes...

Kracka 06-01-2009 08:46 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

The front and rear end-links shouldn't take more than an hour combined and I'm sure the brakes will take 1-2 hours including a fluid flush with some ATE Super Blue. Add in some dinking around with the gauge pod and we're looking at a fun & easy 4 hour day :)

Kracka 07-08-2009 10:38 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

We installed Girodisc Magic brake pads, ATE Super Blue brake fluid, and Perrin rear swaybar end-links tonight! Thanks to Scheides and Anna for their assistance. Delicious pizza, cold Mt Dew, and good times as usual :)

Scheides was drinking a beer, I just wasn't in the mood. Need a few days off after the holiday weekend ;)

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

I sat down in her car ready to go for a test drive with a premium in my hand. Kracka fired up the car as I was taking a swig and I realized I prolly better ditch the road-soda since we were going to go bed the pads in so I downed it and left the empty bottle on the work bench :)

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

How did you like the pads?

Kracka 07-09-2009 12:04 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

When bedding them in I got them to fade pretty bad :( They're definitely a step up from stock though and Janelle is very happy with them. For how she drives the car they'll be absolutely perfect.

goodhart 07-09-2009 12:16 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

^^^Well I've seen the way you brake first hand, I think you might be able to get fokin NASCAR brakes to fade lol

HAHA :D I've yet to even get a hint of fade with my RB ET500's so I'm really lovin' 'em!

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

The WRX has some Perrin shifter bushings and a Perrin air filter going on within the next week or so! She has the SPT intake but supposedly the SPT cone filter is not reusable and instead of buying a $50 disposable filter figured we might as well spend the $50 on a reusable foam filter that will probably make a few extra horsepower along the way. I also got them to throw in a t-shirt for her...how sexy.

Someday...its in her list of future mods along with new tires, a brake master cylinder brace, better brake pads, and SS brake lines.

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

LOL you're right, its all about building hwy monsters or road course cars down here! Autocross is actually really big down here too, the first event of the season is in 3 weeks.

Kracka 01-25-2010 06:24 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

I got her new Perrin filter installed a week or two ago and have been doing some logging and tweaking of her tune to help compensate for it since it flows more air than the SPT filter did.

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

The turbo and BOV are now louder with the new filter. I also want to thank Shane @ DB for giving me pointers/tips on WRX tuning via AIM as I sit in the garage making the changes!

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Getting new tires mounted tonight on the WRX.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....n&autoModClar=

The stock tires are nearing 40k, probably still have another 20k of tread life left, but one is already patched and another is leaking bad enough for me to drive Janelle to work yesterday and today. They were never very good tires to begin with though; the wet performance has always been incredibly disappointing.

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Mike @ Torque Solution wanted Adam from MAP to get some new bushings test fit on a WRX so Adam called me over this morning and thew Janelle's WRX into the air to install the "positive shift kit" see below:

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/IMAG0178.jpg

(new left, old right)

Overall not a huge difference, but the important thing is fitment was perfect which was the point of this. Thanks to Mike for the free bushings and thanks to Adam for installing them while I drank a RC Cola from his fridge :)
