Re: Make slowboy not so slow
You could put some transmission fluid in their and see if it'll drive again. :)

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
A SC 6176 use a P trim exhaust wheel, and the SC 6169 is a shaved down P trim exhaust wheel, both work well for bigger setups on pump and race gas. I would not recomend a stage 5 or T350 exhaust wheel on any turbo bigger then a 50trim. The GT37 exhaust wheel is a good option also, but its another normaly not listed option.

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Did you check the battery connections? Sounds like an alternator/fuse or bad battery connection.

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Eh, it's stuck in Iowa now, I had to get a ride up to Mpls last night since PTO isn't allowed this week at work. MAP is towing it up to Pete's place this afternoon, so the price of the car just went up about $500.
On the plus side, the car has a lot more aftermarket parts on it than I expected, so I should be able to recover some of that. Some of the parts I can use or sell: Prothane motor mounts Greddy type S bov 3" o2/downpipe combo, plus 3" catback EGT Greddy 24r fmic kit Eibach sportlines with KYB 5 way adjustable shocks 17" silver wheels with drag radials (cant remember brand, but look very nice) Stage 4 shep tranny (shifts so nice) Eprom ECU so I can get DSMlink on my car Spare longblock from my maroon talon Holset turbo missing exhaust housing 79k original miles. The car is pretty ricey, only missing a wing for total ricer. Full body kit with sideskirts, all painted black to match (also have original bumpers for it). Indiglo dash gauges that can switch to turquoise. Also some interior pieces are painted silver instead of gray. Also huge windshield sticker for dragsource.net, and one on the back bumper. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
^LOL that riced out pos aint going in my garage!!
;) |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Dang thats a rough trip! Sounds like an interesting car though, some good parts on it! Sounds like Petes going to love having two riced out mitsus in his garage. :P haha

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
The flickering idiot lights sounds like a dying alternator. The same lights were doing that on my car last summer, so I replaced the alternator which fixed the problem. Doesn't really seem to make sense in my mind that the laternator caused the clunk and stopping of the engine though. Sounds like the engine died.

http://www.polishmafia.com/2mitsus_2.jpg this is an all out rice war. i have more CF, but the GSX has a body kit..... |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
I vote for andrew to swap everything into the GSX and sell the talon. Bodykit ftw lol It looks crooked for some reason on the front.. did tom install it with woodscrews?
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
No it's just lens distortion from the cellphone camera, everything is on straight. Pete don't forget about the windshield and rear bumper stickers!
And no, I won't be switching any good parts into the GSX, the Talon is way better. I thought my Talon was getting a little worn out in general with squeaks and what not, but this thing is extremely rattly. Now I understand why people don't want to buy a used DSM from someone who used to beat on it, not a comfortable ride at all. Glad mine was nearly stock when I bought it. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Haha I was kidding, def keep the talon.

maybe we could carefully remove them from the gsx and duct tape them to my car...? |

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Alright, the plan is to do a bunch of work on it Feb 9-10 at Pete's place in Maple Grove (provided it's warm enough). Here's what I hope to accomplish:
New car: Remove motor/transmission Remove gauges/pod Current car: Swap in the built transmission from new car Install EGT and a-pillar pod Fix TPS, CAS, and TB adjustments Install new clutch slave and SS line If anyone is willing to come and help, let me know. I'll provide beer, pop, pizza (or other food too) for anyone that wants to show up. If it's below freezing I'll reschedule for another weekend in March. If the weather is like yesterday I'll be happy though. I've only taken out the motor and transmission together, so taking out just the transmission on my current car will be a new experience for me. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
I should be able to come help for a bit on Saturday. I can bring the drill bit and tap to do the EGT in the exhaust manifold if you need.

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
SO this thing gonna be on the cruise right?
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Yep for sure!
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Nice, its been a long time since the old crew has been together for a "cruise".
Crome-puff needs to get in on the cruise too. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Oh yea, just like a couple years back when we'd always head to *edit* after Applebees every Tuesday until midnight or later. Those were good times.
You, LSE crew, Reid, Hughes, Chrome-puff, Brian with civic, and sometimes others. My first time ever going around corners fast, I couldn't keep up with anyone. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
yeah, those nights were bomb, i am still in school though which sucks and the bee's meets are on the other end of the cities, so not really worth the hike for me anymore.

Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Well I ordered some parts to finish up the car:
DSMLink FP4 cams AEM wideband Oil pressure gauge Water temp gauge Swapping in the PTE 61 this weekend, and probably installing the SS clutch line and new slave. The transmission swap and doing work on the GSX will have to wait until it gets warmer. I talked with a few people at FP and they said I should be fine on Crower singles with the FP4 cam, as long as I'm running medium boost levels (under 30) and not making 600 whp or something crazy. Also since I'm only going to rev to 8000rpm it's not quite so risky. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Sounds like you'll be making some good numbers man.
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Hell yeah, thats badass.
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Every time I try to work on my car or upgrade it, I get a huge wrench into the situation and nothing goes as planned. I attempted to put on the 61 last night, then realized that the motor mount was right where the IC piping needed to go to the passenger side. Suck.
So I realized I need to have the piping route to the drivers side like everyone else with big turbos, but both endtanks on my greddy FMIC point to the passenger side. So today I ordered a Spearco 2-216 setup with 2.5" short route piping on ebay, $400 shipped. The core is 28x10x3.5. Hopefully I can sell my entire Greddy FMIC and 2.25" piping setup for not a big loss. Still sucks though, I have to wait another week to have a working car. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Did you check to see what BOV it is flanged for? I couldn't tell what it was.
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Greddy flange.
I have a Greddy Type S I could use. Or I could use my HKS flange and SSQV from my current setup. Is either better than the other? My FP intake tube doesnt have a recirculate option. |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Use the type S then. The HKS pops off a bit quicker, but no biggie.
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
nice
let me know when you get it I will give you a hand getting it on |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow

Got the intercooler and pipes yesterday, this thing is huge! It nearly takes up two couch cushions with the endtanks.
It appears to be a legit spearco 2-216 core, the pipes are very nice as well (no dings or anything), and I got a complete set of multi layer silicon couplers with tbolt clamps. Very happy with my purchase, the extra 4" wide should look sweet when it's installed. Edit: question about exhaust manifolds, will a ported 2g one be enough? Or should I look at the FP cast mani since they are on sale for $175 without coating and $235 with coating. Will it be worth the upgrade? |
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
What turbo?
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Dual ball bearing SCM61 with the S cover.
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
$235 w/coating sounds like a really good price!
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
I would upgrade to the FP one.
|
Re: Make slowboy not so slow
fp with coating
the 1g mani it had on it very well cracked on the bottom |
