That would be the placebo effect. I don't care what you say no feeling from pot ever lasts for over 24 hours especially if it is merely second hand smoke. Before I started smoking I would sit in a room with people smoking pot and never feel even slightly abnormal. In order to get a contact high you would need to be in a small space like a car with all windows rolled up and no air circulation.

Ok sleepy2lazy: In a sense I see your point. However, I can say [and I am not by any means proud of this, more less ashamed, but it will make my point stronger so whatever] that in my lowest points, I have abused them both. When I abused the alcohol, I ended up at the hospital with alcohol poisoning. My dad picked me up from the hospital and I was in a FUCK load of trouble. Then I abused pot. Nothing bad happened. I walked it all off. Can't do that with booze. I feel much safer smoking pot. Generally I feel much more controlled and calm. I have never said shit I didn't mean smoking pot, as apposed to when I drink, a lot of what I say is stuff I'm pulling out of my ass. I've never gotten into a fight high, which I have done drunk. And I have never woken up in strange places high, which I have done drunk. I'd still rather drink just because I have more fun, but I just don't really agree with your statement.

As far as legalizing pot. I see both sides of the arguement. I can see where the crime rate may go down should pot be legalized. But I can also see the vicious cycle starting over with something worse, which could also lead to worse crime, since the next drug will be harder. I think if they just leave it illegal things will be fine. Either way people are going to smoke pot, so whats the point in changing things?

Haredx: I agree with AJ [dsmstyle] 100%. What is your problem anyways? Why did you come on this site? Do you even have a DSM? If you do, more power to you, but if not then why are you here? All you have done is proven you ignorance, and made a horrible impression. I think the majority of us don't agree with your views, and you calling us closed minded, even though we have valid reasons to back up our opinions, does not help one bit. My advice to you is to lay off the pot and grow up a little bit. It might help you see things a little clearer.

I think you are the one that has growing up to do. Most people here for that matter have a lot of growing up to do. The point in changing things is because people who are doing something so innocent and harmless as smoking pot are going to jail for longer terms then most sex offenders. We are spending BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of our precious tax dollars trying to criminalize something so miniscule and harmless. Your argument about legalizing pot increasing crime has no background to it. Places like Amsterdam, where pot isnt legal but is FAR less prosecuted, have SIGNIFICANTLY lower crime rates and you wonder why that is? It's because they don't have a black market of drug dealers who will do anything and take down anyone to stay at the top, all you have to do to get a joint is stop by the local coffee shop. There are no drug dealers with thousands of dollars worth of product and cash on them to get robbed and people aren't trying to escape police in fear that they might go to jail for 25 years just for owning a stupid plant. The drug laws in America are WAY too strict and I, myself, being a tax payer, am sick and tired of throwing my hard earned money towards a pointless cause, if we used all the money we are spending trying to stop such a pointless crime towards a larger evil, such as poverty, we could pretty much eliminate it. My father is one of the smartest people I know full of wisdom and knows at least something about pretty much every subject and he has used pot since he was a teenager, so please stop with your moronic and ignorant comments that people who smoke are immature and stupid.

At any rate I dont understand how Mr. HaredX can sit and bash people for voicing opinions that differ from his? Everyone has their own views and opinions and that is how it should be. If people can smoke marijuana or Salvia or whatever and not have a problem with it good for them. I just know that it isnt for me and that it has ruined a lot of my friends lives indirectly.

Drugs, if it is mairjuana or cocaine or alchohol are not good for us and shouldnt be used at all. People who do use them do it at their own risk and should understand all consequences related to them and people around them. Because, like I said before there is no drug that is good for you(aside from prescriptions obviously) and if the drug wont directly hurt you it can hurt you indirectly from the actions you do while on it.

Have you ever talked to someone who stopped smoking pot for a while and said after a few days their mind started to clear up. It definetly can effect you for longer than 24 hours. Just not necessarily as distinctly as being 'high.'

I have used weed in moderation and never became addicted to it. I would agree that it is easier on your system than alcohol is. I never really got much of a hang over from it, but I did eat the hell out of some Dorito's! Both have their place, but both should be enjoyed in moderation. Like Tauni said, I have done a LOT more stupid stuff drunk than high. It has also been harder on my system, but if you don't get crazy with it, alcohol is fine. I haven't smoked in several years, but it was just nice to chill out, sit back and laugh at stupid shit.

Yes, weed is addicting to some people. It wasn't to me, but I know several that were. It may have been more mentally addicting than physically, but addicting nonetheless. Yes, it can make you dumb. I can still tell a big time stoner, even if they aren't stoned. Many long time stoners can't function normally if they AREN'T stoned. Ever heard of the Wake 'n Bake?

Everyone knows the side effects of alcohol. It is bad for you, but not bad in moderation. It is actually good for you in light moderation. The hangover the next day is the worst part for me. Get drunk and the next day is pretty much shot.

Nope, pot wont fuck with you at all, just ask my friend Joe how far he can run. After giggling for a few seconds and asking you to repeat the question a time or two slower so he can understand it better, he'll probably try to show you. He'll probably make it about a hundred yards before he has to stop. During his pot smoking years he has lost like 40 lbs and is pretty skinny now, his physique isnt the thing slowing him down. Its the shit in his lungs from smoking pot.

Have any of you potsmokers ever not been stoned around other people that are stoned? I hardly think that drunks are more dangerous than stoned people. And yes, you can get messed up on second hand smoke. On the bus to school in 8th grade two kids came on that had been smoking pot. The sat behind me on the bus and werent even smoking it and I got lightheaded and threw up at school. I was sick for that day and didnt feel much better until the middle of the next day. Pot has different effects on everyone, evidently it doesnt like me.

While we're eliminating the crime commited from pot smokers by legalizing pot, why dont we just do away with all the laws? We could just do away with all the police officers and the whole judicial system, then we would have a shit ton of money to do whatever the fuck we wanted! Hell, we could just have one big nation wide pot smoking day. The whole damn country can nail boards to their feet and run around like big foot for a minute or two, then fall over due to being out of breath.

Am I close minded bastard because I think pot is bad when it is the only reason that 3 people I knew killed themselves, 7-10 have attempted suicide, and somewhere in the neighbor hood of 12-15 of my friends dropped out and now they live at home, cant hold a job, cant do any physical activity, and can barely add in their heads? I am disappointed that threads like this are becoming more and more common on our beloved DSMStyle. If you are into drugs, go to a drug forum. If you don't own a DSM, or at least some car faster than a 14.0 quarter mile, please leave and join some other forum. To think we could be losing good sponsorships or people looking for info and events related to DSMs because of these threads is horrible.

I have my opinions on drugs of all sorts. I think drugs are bad (mmmmmkay) and it's too bad that they have effected some people the way they have. Then again, I was a smoker of regular cigs for 12 years and I wish to god that those wheren't legal cause chances are I woudl never have started and would never have wasted thousands of dollars killing parts of my body and smelling like shit. These are just my opinions and the great thing is I can have them and every normal member with a clear passage will let me post that up and think I have the right to think the way I do, as I think anyone can come here and have their own opinon about the same subject. I can disagree with it 10 fold, but I can get over the fact that this is what they have the right to think.

Final thoughts:

As this thread follows a trend we see here of going far of course I am going to put in some final words and close it on down. What started as a post of a legal substance for discussion quickly turned into a debate and then an argument. From new members to old members, we have views from either side and didn't see many that opened their eys to what others thought about the very same subject. It's a shame really that one of the largests debates we have had that actually stayed civil for a while was abotu a drug with effects similar to those that are currently not legal for good reason. Then we got off to a rough patch about illegal drugs use and it was down hill from there. People who use pot where defending their reason for doing do and for what? Do people have to back up their opinion on the subject with the facts of being a past user or current user or even as a non user? Nah, it's just used as an exclamation point to try and stick out words up a bit higher for more to see.

In the end what I really wish was that we coudl have the heat and passion that went into this thread in topic with a little more meaning. Local and global political issues, school issues, issues in todays news that we all can again have and express in opinion on.

On that note, this thread will be closed and eventually die a slow death on the back pages of our fourm... forever in our memory and seaching abilities. Peace out and Mr T is my hero!
