Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
Fun as always, good seeing everyone and it was cool to see so many EVO's!
|
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
I agree, fun time and a lot of EVOs. I think I counted 18 or so at one time.
Some very nice cars there. I am a little dissapointed that I didnt get to see Josh's and Steve's cars this year though. |
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
It was a lot of fun, thanks Curt for setting it up! I was actually surprised how few 1Gs and 3/S's were there. Maybe everyone is moving on to Evo's.... But there were still A LOT of cars there. Any official number?
|
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
Who won cleanest 1g? I was really wanting to place in that category, but well I guess it wasn't meant to be.
|
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
I'm not sure who won the 1g. but I was questioning peoples voting. The guy with the super clean black Conquest won over all cleanest car, but didn't get a trophy for the conquest class? A guy with a super clean EVO with more mods than most didn't get a trophy, but the guy who put the mitsu rali art stickers on his otherwise stock red one did? The top 2 2G's were pretty ricey both with body kits.
But over all it was a great time with lots of nice cars. Thanks again Curt, this just keeps getting bigger every year. Like others have said you can really see how the EVO's are taking over (I almost brought mine). But at the same time the reamaining older cars are getting nicer. Most of the 1G's were pretty clean cars. I guess the ones that havn't been taken care of are dying off. |
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
I would of brought both of my 1Gs but then worked from 10-2... looks fun! I'll show up in future events! Looks Awesome!

Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006

The EVO won because it stands out more. A lot of those EVOs look a like because they are so new, the paint jobs are all in good shape. Long's EVO just stood out more. I was pleased with the way the trophies went. Thanks to everyone who came out. We had 142 cars there. I'll post more later..... Curt |
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
Thanks for putting it on Curt, we had a great time!
AJ you prick, you didn't get a pic of my car! ;) |
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
Hey everyone,
Thanks to all who came out to the Cookout. It was a great event. We had 142 cars in the show. I especially want to thank all the volunteers I had this year. Chris D, Ross, Andy P, Dave, Steve, Matt D, Ed, John S, Oskar, Mike W and of course Stacy. You were all part of the success of this event. I actually had time to go look at the cars and enjoy the afternoon. Also a big thanks to LSE Performance and Brookdale Mitsubishi. If you wonder why this Cookout is so cheap, our sponsors are the reason why. (or maybe its because I use bricks and duct tape to create signs) ;) Anyways, here are the pictures from the Cookout: http://mn3s.org/cookout2006/index.htm later, Curt |

Booo. I really wanted to make it but had it on my calendar as Sunday, not Saturday. I couldn't bow out of a golf game for my buddy's birthday. I guess I'll start shining up my car for next year.

Thanks Curt & everyone who made this event happen.
It's fun to see all the cars and the time their owners put into them. Yes "EVO's" are becoming the hottest new ticket....we saw the signs at the DSM Shootout this year. What will next year bring??? |
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
My vote is for the expo:)

Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
Don't laugh, it won the "other" category!

AJ had some pictures of it in the links that he posted. It is the blue 1g with the big ass Godzilla BOV.

Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
That car was sweet. Reid and I were walking around with a guy (sorry, didn't catch your name) but he talked to the owner of the blue car, and he said he fabbed up everything himself, including the manifold, full exhaust, and he welded up the cage.

The car I am talking about was the one way down on the end toward the tents, had a crazy curvy heat wrapped manifold, battery disconnect, cage, chrome wheels, vented hood, giant turbo, menthanol injection, all sorts of other crazy stuff, and a giant BOV. |

Here is a good pic of the 1g DSM that took 1st:

Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
Yup, that him and it. That was a sweet looking car. Someone said Shindley built some of it though.

Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
I just want to clear the air. I now know how rumors get started.
I fabricated/modified everything on the car myself. I have been into DSM for just under a decade. Rick only helped rebuild my transmissions, this was many years ago, now I do all of my own work. I’m an electrical engineer not an automotive engineer. I am a member of SAE though if it makes any difference (for work). The PTE GT4067R is big, however not like the monster GT42R. The way history goes I’m sure I will be updating it to a 42R. I think 700 HP causes enough problems as it is, I cannot imagine what 900 or more would do. It was a great show thanks to all who put it on. |

I am happy with my lowly 3rd place, but I hadn't done anything to the car except run it through a car wash. |
Re: All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show -- August 19th, 2006
It is a good guess, it was for conversation sake. It has not been on a dyno and it probably will never be on one.
