In that case I am glad I didn't go. I hate watching honduh's do anything much less attempt speed. Watching fast DSMs grenade is hard to do as well for other reasons and with Jim not running and Carl not getting more than one worthwhile pass in, I am happy I stuck around here to get more work done. I will save my track visits for everything but sport compact meets, they sound like they are just getting worse.

The collection of 16 second cars that show up is the prime reason i don't even bother going on import day. I'd rather watch paint dry. You guys should come down on the domestic car race days.

Shane, out of curiosity, how many miles does your odometer read?

The ticket was to have been there on sat for test and tune. We showed up 2 hours late and still made 15 passes. We had the white 2G w/ the CF hood out there. 1st weekend out starting on low boost and pump gas Troy managed a 11.81@116 in a full weight 2G w/ PS and AC still intact.

Sorry to hear the bad news!

Wow Shane that is a major setback. I really wouldnt have much motivation to get it back up after how many times its died.

Having been the first SC day I knew this would have been the biggest... Usually if it rains and gets set for a rain date that is the best time to go becuase no one shows up.

Damn Shane that sucks. I remember when Mark made the downshift as well in IA a few years back while on the track. It happens, but hopefully you will be back sooner than expected.

Nice job on the 2g, you can always depend on the North Dakota boys to bring some quick cars.

Yeah, waiting for all the slow-ass cars there was really boring. That's the biggest attendance I've ever seen there, I had a hard time finding a spot in the spectator lot for my hooptie. It's hard to get any driving practice out there when you can only make a pass every 2-3 hours.

That really sucks, Shane!

I am surprised it died. I have done 3-2's a few times and am still going fine. I suppose you were over 7K when you did it though? I read a read a tip that helped me not do it anymore. So I will pass it along. Don't grip the shifter, just move it with an open hand. 1st to 2nd, and 3rd to 4th use the tips of your fingers. 2nd-3rd and 4th-5th push with you palm.

Hope it's just some bent valves. And use the N2O next time!

That why I didn't go to that event. In my opinion its amost worth it to just go on the test and tune day and get a bunch of runs in without all the 15 plus cars wasting everyones time. Whats an extra 30 bucks for up to ten times as many runs?

I still dont know how people will want to take their cars and run 16's. Is their brain not in the right spot? I has a few mins of sleep as I waited for the 13.5 and quicker class run. I probably wont go to another SC day again. I like the Fun Days better anyways...lots of quick cars with lots of power....fun fun.

I was shifting over 8000, so it wasn't too happy. The datalog said it was at 11,300 RPMs. There is a hole in my valve cover from rocker parts coming through. I need to stop trying to shift into 4th quick. It really is the least important shift as far as time/mph is concerned. I concentrate on the first 2 shifts more because the shift to 4th should be cake, but it ends up killing me. I go a bit crazy with the shifts as you can tell from me breaking the shifter off of the pivot on my first run. Me with N2O probably wouldn't be pretty, I probably wouldn't even make it off the dyno.

I would have rather have went on Saturday, but the car wasn't done yet.

Yea Ive never done the downshift when your supposed to upshift, maybe that is becuase of your tip ryan- I dont grip the shifter I just tap it in with my palm and pull it back with my fingers. Never thought about that.

Hope its just the valvetrain, and maybe the bottom end is ok... yea when you rip it up get some pics :)

Re: RF Sport Compact Day, Sunday April 10th

I did the downshift twice when I bought my car. Hit the end of the tach at 9000 without any damage. My car was stock though... I am only down one motor and I am contemplating not putting it back together. Not do to shifting or tuning though.

Re: RF Sport Compact Day, Sunday April 10th

The White 2g that fried the tranny was me.

First run of 15.7@104 was when it went all down hill. Brought it into the pits and made some adjustments and went for a run down the road, everything shifted fine then lined back up in the staging lanes. Ran 16.3@99 couldnt get into 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear in high rpms for some reason. Checked the clutch fuild seemed a bit low. Filled it up and bled the clutch, went back to the staging lanes again. 16.2@90 is all I could get. Still couldnt shift for shit. Brought it in, checked the tranny fuild, barely any. Like maybe 1/4 of a pint. How it got that low I have no clue. Pulled the tranny in the pits found the clutch fucked up, thats when I went to shane asking if he had a clutch disk with him. HAHA (Dont know if ya remember that Shane.) Found one at a local town but decided to look into the tranny a little more just incase cause on the last run when I got to the pits I couldnt move at all. Well I ended up separating the clutch disk from the sprung center spline section. Broke my LSD in 3 pieces, 1st thru 4th synchros are toast also. So off to Winona I went where I grabbed a trailer and truck and came back and picked it up.

Tranny is rebuilt and a new clutch is in. All ready for April 23rd's fun day at RF. Maybe I wont break it this time. I'm going to tow it there this time though and expect to break it!

Ya, I remember. I wasn't in the best mood then, since my car had just blown up. I run a twin disc clutch, so I don't have any normal clutch parts with me.
