Yeah, you can get them undercoated. Ziebart does it along with others. Subaru's are known for blowing up 2nd gear. I have heard the Sti's is stronger, but I would check into it.
What kinda bolting procedure do they use on the Evo??? Like JET... you c-w'd a 6 bolt... What kinda shit do they throw at the Evo??
The 6 bolt crankwalking was totally the rebuilder's fault. He didn't do the necessary steps. The EVO is a 7 bolt, but the bottom end is supposed to be more stout than a 2g. I don't think I would be worried about anything engine wise on the EVO, or the tranny for that matter.
yeah i was told the rods are 92.5+ sized, but i was told that AMS is making 525whp on their stock evo motor.
Please tell me you fellow's DSMers are not even having a debate over these 2 cars. EVO all the way, Subaru's can blow me.
Give an EVO a 2.5 liter and lets see how the standings sit. And yes AMS is currently making 525 whp on their EVO w/ their new T3/t4 kit, not to shabby. Im sure it'll cost a pretty pennt, but you're not gonna get no 500+ hp Subaru for anything less than double that. Nick |

#1 I have no brand loyalty. I'm a consumer with a checkbook just like everyone else, and I refuse to limit myself to the options available from one brand. If the SRT-4 had AWD and cost 5k less than an evo, I would buy it. I don't care if someone says "it's still a neon", anyone who says that is a closed minded, block headed retard.
#2 I know better than to try and defend a Subaru on a DSM board. Especially when compared to an EVO. #3 Right now, I don't think I'm going to buy either of these cars. At least not for a few years. I'll go buy a nice Lexus or BMW for my daily driver. :bs: One thing I don't like is when people say "I heard this, about that car". Maybe it's true or maybe it's not. If it is true, try finding some info on it, before you post it. I could say that I heard the Mazda rotary in the RX8 sucks ass, but would anyone believe me? If I posted a link to an RX8 forum that had several members who had to take thier car back to the dealer within 2,500 miles to get a new motor, then you might believe me. So PLEASE!!!! If you're going to say something like "I heard that Subaru engines get blowed up", post a link, or give some real meaningful info. If they really do blow up easy, then I'm sure there's a forum out there with a guy telling everyone how he blowed up his scooby. Thanks ;) |

Full girdle stock, gotta love that! That should kill any worries about crankwalk due to misaligned crank bearings. I don't suppose the full girdle can be put into a 6 bolt? Anyone???
2G 7-bolt block has a 1 piece girdle also.
Really?!? I didn't know that!
1G 7 bolts do too.

OLD THREAD!
but i wonder which ones more sexy looking http://mywebpages.comcast.net/sahmto...dsti_rear1.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/sahmto...ti_front_2.jpg I was a huge fan of the STi (looks wise) but damn, that evo is nice. to hard to judge |
Fuck them both, I want the house.

But if i had to pick one of the two cars, it would be the EVO hands down. I don't even have to think about it if someone ask me that question. |
Nevermind.
I like dsm's and all but no doubt, I would go with the subaru. It is quicker in the 1/4 mile and I have never heard anything about the engines blowing up. I saw a sabaru lowered today and it looked so gay so if you do get one for god's sake don't lower it. :headache:
How did this get restarted...
Well I'd really like an Evo, but Mr Evo himself says I shouldn't get one. Ass... Anyhoo, I suppose now that it's six months later, I could use a second opinion on the topic, as now my finanes have come around again... |
Get an 03 Cobra instead
The Evo is a race car (especially when you start racing with turns). The STI is one notch below that, but it also means the STI is probably a little bit better for the street and daily driving.
