Nice to see you getting better with each pass. I'm always down to help good people, I'm expecting to see 8s before the year is out.

Those 60' and 1/8 MPH are crazy good!

Car sounded nice and made me think you were Ross a few times,
Cars are super similar looking!

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

I'm alright, the car is toast, and I'll be on crutches/walker/wheelchair for the next 6 weeks or so.

Great weekend, got to put some faces to screen names. Congrats Wade, car looks great!

On the Spaz note, I talked to a few people that saw the accident. There's a whole wall of tires where he hit and somehow he hit the only part that was just concrete. He was able to spin the car so the passenger side hit and probably scrubbed off some speed, but hit the wall hard enough that the car went up and people could see the chassis for a second. It was good to hear yesterday that he's doing alright, unfortunately, the car is mangled pretty bad. Pretty scary stuff.

On a sidenote, I heard there was a third car that wrecked yesterday afternoon, a new Fiat Abarth. It was a tough weekend on the road course.

Glad to hear you're alright man, that's some scary shit. Every time I came into that section of the course, I was nervous.

Glad to hear you're okay, Spaz.

Were all these wrecks on the road course? In the rain?

Re: 2013 Proving Grounds

Didn't that Evo that crashed in one of the past years also "just miss" the tires too? Was it that same spot?

Were these accidents at turn 12 just before the bridge?

Re: 2013 Proving Grounds

Sounds like they really need to do something to better protect drivers around that turn at the least. Why they dont put some type of crash barrier that actually has some give on each corner is beyond me. Nothing in front of concrete barriers seems like a stupid idea.

For all the arm chair speculation... that whole turn 12 has a tire wall of at least 1000 tires. When spaz went sideways he hit the one 3 ft section that is not covered because it is a drive out for safety workers. Spaz has bad luck.

Does anyone have any videos/pictures of those wrecks?

Thats what I heard as well about the part he hit, hard to visualize without seeing it. Seems like something could still be put there as resistance if people keep crashing in this area. Just glad his ordeal wasnt worse.

Those barriers aren't even close to the track. And they added a shit load of tires to it after that Evo got totalled a couple years ago when it went straight off at 90mph.

Nothing is going to fix random failures, over driving a car, small errors that turn big, etc. Road course driving is very dangerous, your car has to hold together for more than a 1/4 mile and you aren't hitting cones, you are possibly hitting walls and trees. The lack of driver training and allowing anyone to get out there and drive is always scary to me at the PG events.

RSMotors is trying to do something about that with our DCTC driving events. This Proving ground there was a serious lack of instructors from BIR (I saw 1 on sunday) to help out with the newer drivers. MAP PG will need more instructors if they wanna keep having driving events @ PG.
