Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I also need to clean up the mess under the hood. AKA delete anything that doesn't make the car run or turn. I need some help with what exactly I can get rid of, and what needs to be relocated. I have some pics here, and I already plan on getting rid of the firewall pad, ABS, move the nitrous solenoids, and drop the battery. I also want to drop the whole engine harness down out of sight.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
the coolent on the pistons is normal when you take off the head. it drips off the head. It does look ok. I would talk to jhaan and ask about the turbo seals. I dont know of anywhere else where the bright green stuff would get into the intercooler piping besides throught the compressor housing. if it was leaking somehow through the head or the valve cover it would be brown chocolate milk, and the rest of your oil would look like that.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
First order of business. Move the battery to the trunk. Leaves a ton of extra room. Eliminate the cruise control by getting a non cruise control throttle cable (if not already done)
eliminate the A/C. Very easy to do. You may want to pull the motor, it makes it a lot easier to pull the firewall stuff. and clean up the engine bay. The cleanest ive ever gotten mine was when i pulled the motor, cleaned everything up, then repainted the engine bay, and put everything in. |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
You have some fun looking toys there! I'm looking forward to seeing how all your hard work is going to turn out!
|
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I should have mentioned, A/C is already removed, cruise also. I really don't want to turn this into more work than it has to be, I'm not looking for a fully tucked and shaved engine bay, just something cleaner than it is. Hopefully something that looks about like twack/123abc/4g63tcrazy's cars. I am not relocating any fuse boxes either, I don't want to remove fenders just to swap a fuse.
The fuse by the driver side corner (top right in the 1st pic of post #62) looks like it is all for A/C stuff, can I just rip that whole thing out? |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Maybe the coolant in the FMIC was someones idea of a air-water i/c setup :) Why aren't there any pics of you working?
|
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Nice work and pics.
But lets get to teh important shit, how big of a shot are you running? How long u been doing it? |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
^From the looks of the coolant in the i/c, I would guess he is pushing enough juice to tear the diamond plating off of his floor boards.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Damn, that sucks about the exhaust mani studs. Looks like you're making some damn good progress on it though!
Think she will be ready to go come spring? |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Just take out the upper fuse box it unplugs from the bottom it is just for the a/c
Also take out the fuel noids next to it. Cut the top 1/2 off the power stearing bracket and cut the upper engine mount. (I have it done on both the talon and the wifes hatch) makes it look a lot cleaner |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
ya thats all ac stuff up in the corner. cut the wires and turn the grommet inside out to hide everything and the hole. did you see if there was a crack or soemthing wrong with the throttle body to see if that was leaking coolant?
|
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I agree with removing that fuse box, and the solenoids right next to it on the firewall. Also if there is anything remaining from the emissions system under the battery, remove all of it and just tuck the battery down in there. A lot easier than relocating to the trunk, and really cleans things up.
Also, is that mess on the passenger side ABS? Get rid of that crap!! |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I'll reply for Mike.
nope, no pictures of him working, my hands were too dirty to use the camera. I like the idea of just dropping the battery to the K member, no need for a shut off switch. What all is needed to eliminate the abs setup? And he isn't putting any nitrous to the car yet. It is all plumbed in for it, but just not being used. I wish he had gotten a good picture of the puddle of coolant on the closed intake valve... |

Where exactly do I cut the engine and power steering mounts? Anyone have pics? Quote:

Here's the plan for the ABS. I have all the tools to bend my own lines, I am going to order a non-ABS proportioning valve today. What size and length lines do I need and what kind of fittings? to finish the job? I assume I can't just start cutting into the high pressure lines too, so how should I relieve the pressure? |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I say eff that nitrous kit, that's what blew up the perfectly-running 7-bolt that was in it when I sold this car to that retarded Iowa guy.
I say just put the battery down on the k-member, looks way clean, esp once you get that SMIM on there, it'll all 'just work.' Might wanna look at Kevin's car as an example too, nice setup imho. |
Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Oh, and I say do delete the ABS, IIRC I yanked the fuse on it anyways when I had that car because it worked like junk on 1G's.
