Re: A real mans DSM :D, Introducing, the Starion

I didnt really turn it up much, im only at about 10psi right now, im going to put it at 15psi tomorrow I think or next time I drive it.

And the compression was done with all plugs out, fuel pump unplugged, foot off the throttle, and the tester was only hand tightened in with a poor o ring on it, so actual compression might be higher.

And how are we going to go wasted spark on this bia? and why not just use my MSD coil :D

Re: A real mans DSM :D, Introducing, the Starion

You should open the throttle all the way. That way, all the air that can be sucked in will be.

And the wasted spark thing is just an idea right now, but it might work. We take the rotor in your distributor and install another arm 180 degrees from the one on there. Since the firing order is 1342, pair cylinders will be fired simultaneously, just like a dsm.

I am assuming dsm coilpacks send the spark to both "nodes" (plug wire recepticle thing). If that's the case, then it would work. If it does, you get the benefits of wasted spark. And you can use your MSD coil. it would be stock appearing, but more awesome.

And ease into the boost, 1 psi at a time.

Next time you swing by work rydo, let me know. I wanna measure the inducer on your turbo, hard to tell if it's a 14g or 16g. I would think the 14g due to the exhaust housing but you know me. I can't be happy without knowing for sure.

But now you've got me reading up on your car to figure out all the ins and outs... why i'm doing that, i don't know. But will be helpful in the months to come i have a feeling.

Gravy might be able to fill you in better, but that's just not my style Andrew. You will figure this out lol.

Oh and I can do that Josh. Ill be back up in the area Wednesday if you are going to be working.

Vacation starts on wed, i'll have to check another time. I know for a fact it's either a 14g or 16g, but the exhaust looks unmolested from the outside, and knowing how the plugs looked, i'd say it's just a 14g.

Going to have to get a quick wrap up on the car soon i think. Want it fired up and ready to go for spring.

Ok will do, but wasted spark set up is a no go, waste of time lol. But the next project will the exausht Im thinking.

Yeah, I realized that it wouldn't be so simple. But someone with a lot of time on their hands and a bunch of spare parts could make it happen.

Not to mention that wasted spark is worse than sequential. It would be pointless to go wasted spark.

Yeah, I didnt want to be the one to crush your dreams like that, you can wikipedia it lol. Got my new tire on the front, but now its having a hesitation again really bad when I try WOT with my MBC turned up. Oh well, Ill have to wait for a sunny day..

Back off until it doesn't do it. Or install that BCD.

Re: A real mans DSM :D, Introducing, the Starion

Im thinking I might be fuel cutting, because its actually not so much a hesitation as it is the car falls on its face completely. Then it will try to go again, then fall on its face again, until I stop pushing on the throttle.

FattyBoomBatty 02-10-2009 10:22 AM

Re: A real mans DSM :D, Introducing, the Starion

Yeah, that's fuel cut. It's really fun. I know.

Just turn down the boost until you install something that makes it go away. 86's are nice with the whole MAS elimination thing, but it won't stop the numbnuts computer from fuel cutting. The idea may have been better, but the execution was horsepoop.

89 computer, knock box and a 1G MAS or MAFT setup.

If you buy an 88-89 harness and that other stuff, we could have it swapped out in a day.

I could also have my FCD installed in a day lol. But Ill keep it in mind. Id rather work with what I got.

The next thing to go on the car. I got the mandrel bends coming in and a place where I can buy my 2.5" pipe :D Should make a little difference over stock.

Re: A real mans DSM :D, Introducing, the Starion

probably about 5-10hp over stock with stock boost levels. Hey, it might even fuel cut now when your stock exhaust didn't.

You install the BCD yet? :)
