Re: manifold advice?

^Well I got my fpr with ss lines already coming off it. And I guess I still have the return line stock, but if that goes I've got all the part numbers lined up to replace it with ss line.

Your injectors weren't maxed at that level though. Throwing more fuel at it won't make more power, you need the air to go with it. What boost were you running? Do you have a nice FMIC and 3" exhaust?

I made 265 whp at 21 psi. I can email somebody the log if your interested. I thought the numbers were pretty low, but the guys at the shop said it was what they expected. I was pretty skeptical so instead of bitching about it I was planning on upgrading a few things and getting it tuned at db on e85

xos ebay core (big mofo)
2.5'' piping long route
injen intake soon to be a full 4'' intake
ported pte 50 trim
custom 3'' turbo back exhaust (no cat)
apexi muffler
tubular o2 housing
tial 40mm wg
680ccs
walbro 255
aero fpr w/ ss lines
evo III head
evoIII cams
ported 2g mani
ported intake mani to match head
1g bov
act 2600
dsmlink

Get the 1000cc injectors, I missed the part about you running e85.

265 uncorrect on pump @21psi on an ebay fmic setup is pretty average for a 2.0 50 trim car, with unknown port work.
E-85 will help make power, better timing advance possibilities and more boost available for cooling.

What does "uncorrect" mean? And why would unknown port work matter as long as we know its all the same all the way through?

I believe uncorrected means they didn't adjust the power numbers for temp, altitude, humidity, to look like other dyno numbers, etc, so it may be lower than you might expect somewhere else.

Also, can't a bad port job hurt power, not help? Maybe that's what he's getting at.

Re: manifold advice?

I think he meant uncorrected power.

And I still love how he plugs in the Ebay FMIC comment ;)

Re: manifold advice?

265awhp on a Dyno Dynamics does not seem out of line at all with the parts on the car. I would probably switch to some good cams before going too far. My wifes car with a 50-trim, FMIC, HKS 272, etc put down something like 263awhp on our dyno at 19-20psi on pump gas. The exact same setup/tune put down 340whp at Elite. Her car went from the 263 to 384ish awhp on the Dyno Dynamics on race gas.

Realistically, don't expect good numbers from most setups on pump gas on a DSM, they are usually knock prone and not the most efficient motors ever, they shine at being able to handle high boost/high power without flying apart, but that usually takes higher octane.

Re: manifold advice?

So isn't that a good reason for me to run e85?

The evoIII cams are a little bigger than the stock 2g, but yea nothing crazy I know. I'll probably keep the cams I've got for now.

Re: manifold advice?

Shane is right, get better cams.

Re: manifold advice?

Yep, before I even got down this far I was thinking you needed cams too. Throw some HKS 272's in here, you won't be disappointed! I had a similar setup in my car for a while, and it was a lot of fun. The 272's really complimented the 50 trim well. The E85 will help you get a lot more out of it too, 50 trims like boost.

Re: manifold advice?

Yeah, buy my 272's so I can throw some 280's in.

^^ how much are you looking to get for them?

HiImBrian 11-29-2007 08:23 PM

Re: manifold advice?

I'd love to upgrade to 272s but I so badly want to be "done" modding. My initial goal was to get a strong 300awhp and I think e85 will do that for me.

Re: manifold advice?

on my 50 trim setup, I made 366 at the LSE dyno day this spring, and that was with absolute minnimal tuning. You should have no problem getting there.

HiImBrian 11-29-2007 09:32 PM

Re: manifold advice?

^What as your setup?

And I'm saying, I had my car with this setup on that dyno and made 265.

Halon 11-29-2007 10:02 PM

Re: manifold advice?

Same setup made in the 260's on LSE's dyno on pump with SAFC, and then made in the 280's with the same setup on pump with DSMLink and 272 cams.

Setup is basically a built 2.0, FFWD head, 272 cams, 50trim, e85, around 23-25psi on the 366hp run.

Go all out, BC 288's

Re: manifold advice?

Yeah, I'd go with a DNP, I'm actually in the market myself for one, hard to come by used. If you find one for yourself and another one let me know. Otherwise they run like 5-6 hundred bucks new.
