Plenty of people are running high boost on pump gas, yes 92 or 93 not E85

I question more the amount of timing they can put in. I showed Shane the timing they say they are running and he says he has trouble running the amount they do on pump gas.

I think it is some local New York war between tuners and now all the new york people think "their" tuner is better and the local tuners there have just inflated their shit beyond reasonable, like the florida dynos.

Feel free to show me some sheets, then. I haven't seen any legit Evo tuners do it.

Buschur does it all the time. I can't say I recommend it, but yea. I ran 28 on my BBK setup pretty reliably though. If the setup/turbo can handle it, and you feel like pushing it, go for it. But yea, who knows.

Feel free to search sites other than EVO X bullshit. Turbo cars have been around for a while and so has the tuning.

*Edit* the almighty scheides has spoken, maybe u will realize the troof now!!

Buschur has more than their share of blown motors from pushing their luck. Sometimes they blow shit up just to find the limits. That's their prerogative given that they build engines for profit.

Your second sentence is what's relevant to me. Would GST, AMS, or Shane run 30psi on pump?

Murlo26 07-21-2010 11:20 PM

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

I don't think we never said you couldn't but as most good tuners even say in the espec threads...why you running 30psi, it only takes one bad tank of gas and kablamo!

No thanks, no good tuner would run that high of boost on any 93 oct.

Regardless, even if they did, they would have to keep the timing low to compensate so I don't think anymore power would be made.

Keep in mind everyone, some places have WAY better pump gas then the piss that MN gets.

These guys are in NY and they do seem to be blessed in that regard.

And I have said that before...but they think I am crazy.

Regardless, that kind of tuning is still very much on the edge of safe...

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

So I was a lil upset my turbo got held up, but it still isn't needed yet, so not an issue yet.

I just got these two emails from Robert, second one was funny I thought!

1st:
Turbos are done and sitting there waiting on the line R&D to wrap up. Might have that handled by tomorrow, we are working on it.

2nd:
I have been "hitching" rides to work for the last 2 days, and been unable to goto lunch becuase my EVOX is apart for oil feed line development :( Send me a cheeseburger!

So good news, I am sure they are working fast since his personal X is down because of it!

Initial Black numbers from the 3rd tester...

http://i630.photobucket.com/albums/u...lack-17psi.jpg

Here is what they posted:
Initial update,,,

17psi with 93pump--- 382hp..... this is going to be fun.

Got too late to continue on... A fresh set of plugs and back to the dyno we go!!

Spool-up was better than I anticipated,,, I think we touched 17psi @ 3800 or so,,, I'll post a log shortly.
First thing I noticed was having to add additional fuel from the previous FpRed tune to keep afr's identical,, a very good sign of things to come.

Are you going to be at DB this afternoon at all? Let's pull the end of that one rod off the crank :P

I am, but I can't stay long...I was going to take a long lunch...I need to stop by MAP quick and grab the rod bearings then I have those, my new SSP MC (want my old one ;)) and the SSP relay pack to drop off.

I will probably take an hour and a half for lunch or so around 1:30. What time you guys going there?

If the car still has a MAF, there is no reason they should have had to add fuel, unless they fixed something else or the old tune was screwed up. The MAF will compensate for a more airflow like a bigger turbo. You can usually put cams into an Evo and the A/Fs will be pretty much exactly the same even if it gains 40whp.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

Hmmm, true that. I am pretty sure it is still on the stock ECU. Perhaps they did a 3.5" intake though in anticipation of the MAF maxing.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

Danny was kind enough to check the bearing on the rod that snapped, it was all good...so it was not an oiling issue at all. Just power, it happens. Makes me feel good though, so mystery solved.

Stopped up at DB (obviously, since the above statement)...dropped off the new cosworth rod bearings (now DB can start putting in the new rods/pistons and get the show on the road) my new SSP master cylinder rev 2 and the SSP relay pack which replaces a bunch of relays that can possibly fail.

They changed around some stuff and have a new engine building room where the office used to be, its nice. I got to see the new AMS spec JE pistons too...Scheides/Kracka/Spaz were all there too by the way for Kracka's tune...Scheides suggest i take some pics of the pistons so here you go...

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/532fca91.jpg

Nothing too crazy, but I love to see new stuff :)

My head is basically done, they had to get a few new shim buckets so they are still waiting on that, shouldn't be too much longer. The tune on the 6th of August is optimistic, but you never know, we will see what happens next week, should be lots of progress hopefully.

Hmmm, think thats about it for updates.
