During break-in it was being changed every 4-5 days. Going forward it'll only need to be changed monthly, at most. That'll be worth the trip to Dad's house. If I had a driveway then I'd do it but I live downtown and the meter reader would have fun with that one.

Any word on if it will be ready for you on Monday?

I should send Shane a masseuse. Nothing but crap and too much work.

Dude, we've told you countless times now that if you need to change your oil, JUST ASK! Plenty of us have driveways and garages with all the tools you'd need.

I will, just wanted to get to know some of you better before I did. In this case it isn't relevant because if I'd known I could have had Valvoline fix it on the spot.

Will it be back on the dyno for more tuning today?

Shane said he'd try to give me a mild tune that'd be safe for Monday. He is heading up to BIR for NASA so he has a hard time constraint. That's a long-winded way of saying: dunno.

The worst that could happen is I drink a lot more beer on Sunday night (if I'm not driving on Monday). I have a room in Baxter and I'm going to use it. :D

When is the event you're attending? Gotta get those brake lines on...monday? Tuesday?

I wasn't expecting to get it done before BIR. Car is still at DB, working an all-nighter on Sat/Sun, then heading up to BIR Sunday evening. Track day is Monday. It's crazy season.

OIC! Ok, then LMK when you wanna do it, I'm game for whenever. I owe you.

Re: Evo X upgrades

I picked up the car tonight. Shane put a tame tune on it...26psi and I think he said 15 degrees of timing? It makes decent power but it will need some polishing next week.

These ID2000 injectors start like a motherfucker when cold and the car barely runs for the first few minutes. On paper the spool is terrible, up around 4300. It doesn't feel bad driving it, though. Maybe the whole spool thing is over-rated.

The ECU is also acting a little weird. The driver's power window is no longer one-touch and the alarm system won't arm. I'm not sure if a fob is lost in the passenger compartment or if the computer just thinks one is there. We practically disassembled the interior looking for it, without luck. I'll be dropping the car back off at DB on Tuesday and we'll see what we can figure on that and polishing the tune.

Shane said the turbo is blowing some smoke on WOT pulls so there's definitely a chance that it'll have to come back out to be repaired. Who said ignorance was inexpensive? Considering what I've been through so far, that seems like a minor issue.

those are still some pretty nice numbers for low boost, low timing, and possibly blown turbo!

Re: Evo X upgrades

Yeah man! Problems suck, but once it's worked out and it makes good power, you forget about all that money spent. I did. Anyway, could the late spool be caused by a maladjusted boost controller? I know mine had the gain turned all the way up and was causing a crazy hysterisis where the waste gate would open a couple times at spool up, then close, make boost and work normally. Check that maybe?

For the window it happens a lot on cars usually if you hold the switch going down all the way and hold it once it bottoms out then bring it all the way back up and hold it, it will reset the auto function and work again.

Re: Evo X upgrades

What turbo do you have again? the red?

Nice numbers so far, Craig is right on the windows.

As far as the security system check fuses, or somehow reactivate it.

You might be able to get these both warranted from Brookdale too, just sayin.

It's weird because it goes down a couple inches every time that I press the switch. It goes up the whole way, like normal. I'll fiddle with it a bit.

This is the BBK Full for the X. They call it the BBX.

It's not a power issue...it just thinks a key fob is inside the car. DB couldn't find the key that I'd left them so at this point we don't know if that's true or not. We looked for it pretty thoroughly. The X's with SSS don't use an ignition key--it just detects a fob inside the car.

These injectors are really rough and I threw a CEL this morning. The car is making me nervous right now.

Ended up being the random misfire code. The local dealers don't have new plugs in stock so I'm going to reinstall a set of HKS M40XL's that I already have. I had pulled those out quite a while ago since Shane didn't recommend one-step colder plugs with E85.

Didn't get a VMail, but I assume that's you that called...I'll have your cable back in the cities tomorrow evening, I can bring it over to ya if you like!

410whp at only 26psi and 15 degrees of timing? That is a damn conservative tune for your setup, but it should get you used to the power before the big numbers. 400whp is plenty of fun for the street, enjoy it!
