Did you at least have your tubular manifold ceramic coated?

I thought he did.

Whats wrong with the stock fluid? Are you really going to be pushing the car that hard? Racing/autox?

I think he is heading up to BIR.

HPDE on Monday and the auto-x novice school on the 5th & 6th. TTM's inspection checklist says that your brake fluid should be no more than 6 months old. I've owned the car less than a year but it was manufactured some time in 2007, I'd imagine.

My first time up at BIR I actually didn't use the brakes enough to experience fade...I drive like an old lady. That will probably change at some point this Summer, though.

He is going to be spending a lot of time at BIR this summer so I commend him for proactively maintaining his brake fluid. The stock fluid is probably fine, but putting in something like ATE Super Blue is never a bad thing.

I took my car instead of my brother's blue one. No issues aside from needing to change tires. I used these rear tires at prior HPDEs so they had some wear to begin with. I ended up stealing my brother's rear wheels and finishing his tires off as well :)

They probably won't actually inspect your fluid, but it is always best to make sure it is fresh. I bought some of the super blue from MAP and put that in before I went. Still managed to experience brake fade if I was heavy on the brakes for multiple laps.

Not sure what you have done to your brakes, but mine at still 100% stock on my car. I will probably try to upgrade them before the next track day I attend. My car has only 14k on it so there is still some life in the pads/rotors. Would probably benefit greatly from some better ones though.

Stock, factory brake fluid and all. The plan is to put on the Technafit lines & ATE Super Blue next week.

With only 7k miles on the car there should be plenty of brake pad left on there. I intend to burn them up in the next couple of months and then I'll go to Girodisc rotors and DS2500's.

Ignorance bit me again. Valvoline put a quart too much oil in at the last change and I didn't know that being a little too full is very bad on turbo cars.

Swifty coated DB's dyno with coolant and very late last night my car covered it and my engine bay in oil.

FML. Only got one pull in...said it did 350 at wastegate (21-22psi).

Badass on power, just bad on the motor oil thing.

Oil can be cleaned, don't worry. Hopefully it's not indicative of a bigger problem.

You know what else is bad for turbo cars? Taking them to Valvoline.

Too early to tell but he voiced concerns about the turbo seals if the return line couldn't function.

He said that dialing in the ID2000's was a pita due to having fewer tables available so that took some time. It was 1am by the time Shane cleaned things up and drained some oil from the car.

No, this one is on me. They show you the dipstick before you leave and I checked the level multiple times. I just didn't know better.

You dont know how to read if the oil is over the level on the dipstick??

That sucks dude, hopefully the turbos ok.

Kracka 05-21-2010 01:05 PM

Re: Evo X upgrades

Hopefully the turbo's fine and it's nothing more than spilled oil.

It was a little over the top line when measured cold. It was on the top line when I changed it at 1k miles (using the amount listed in the owners manual) so I didn't think anything of it.

I guess we need to use less than book and have it between the lines when cold so that when hot it isn't too full.
