Good to know! Luckily I wont probably ever have a loan on a project vehicle haha.

The car wasn't intended to be a project vehicle when I bought it, lol.

They never are. You do one thing and then you can't stop.

Well I planned on modding it quite a bit but I never dreamed of the amount I have. So I guess your comment still applies :)

Wait you do what now?

In all fairness a turbo kit for your car is $4000+, a turbo upgrade for an X is less than half that, even with injectors and a tune! You know if there was a $1500 upgraded turbo you'd be all over it!

Gains for the price is why we own these cars. I wouldn't mod a BMW or Audi either.

Actually I probably wouldnt, just do to how I know modded cars go. Im at a safe point right now that I dont need any more power because I dont want the headache that goes along with it. haha

Im getting old. Carry on hehe.

When you add up all the stuff you put into mitsus, its not just 1500... You planned to run a stockish setup scheides, until your motor went. :( Its a never ending battle.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

Speaking of turbo kits I am starting to weight the options of switching to t3 now...I really want a tubular manifold...but at that point all the pieces I bought for the Fpblack to work I could've went t3 from the get go. The bolt on turbo is appealing because you can piece it together but if I sell everything I could probably get the majority of what's needed for a t3 kit.

What got me thinking this is the thread on EvoM about the Fpblack vs the GTX3076r...Michael at ETS said he could do that turbo in a kit for 3800. So if sell the black my downpipe, UICP and I guess my intake too I would be only a 1000-1200 away or so probably if I get the prices I think I could.

Then I would be setup for t3 too for more future upgrades.

Also the GTX3076r would spool faster than my black it looks like, probably 3600-3800 full spool and make as much or more power by the looks of the charts.

Hmmm....

People constantly give swifty shit for waffling about setups, even though he has had like 2 turbos in the 3-4 years I've known the guy. You've had your car for less than 2 years and you are already talking about getting the 4th turbo for your car.

I forgot its illegal to think about future upgrades on this site and until you actually do something you are a noob....right..I will just be quiet.

I was simply hoping for an intelligent conversation on the benefits/cons etc of switching if I ever did...its winter out, its cold, boring, dark all the time...I have to pass time some how. So I think what I would do next..sorry.

Yep...I am trying to find the perfect setup for myself, maybe I found it maybe not. So i have had 3 turbo's already in less than two years, that means I actually do what I say I plan to do ;)

Edit:

Regardless when I find a bit of free money I plan to do a ported intake mani next as that should be good for 20whp or so at my levels I would think.

Its not illegal, but you talked about selling the car and not being able to afford even snow tires or pay for insurance for winter but are thinking about setups down the road? Just doesnt make sense to some of us.

I guess I could see that...but I won't be paying the motor off forever, just until I do I am poor. One step at a time :) I just found the new GTX turbos to be highly intriguing.

I daydream about winning the lottery all the time. I'd do a sleeved 2.2ltr and an HTA3582 more than likely.

I am so happy I thought I'd share here since it might/probably will be funding my new milspec throttle body.

I sold my OEM pistons/rods that are new outta my shortblock that we used for my build...I also sold my stock cams...got almost 500 for it all :)

Was a good day.

Can't wait to see Mil.Spec's work on the X throttle body, everything they touched for the 8/9 was beautiful.

No shit? What'd you get for the cams? Maybe I should list mine on Ebay or something.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

It was awesome.

I sold the cams for like 110 and the rods/pistons for 275 :)

I think this was more of a lucky thing than anything, lol. Stock stuff like that is hard to sell but apparently people do buy it.

Was it just other X owners buying it?

Ha!

Which cams are even better? It's like when the old 1G Non-turbo guys would try to get cams from the turbo cars, thinking they were better, when the non-turbos(like most non-turbo cars) had more aggressive cams.

LOL, no complaints here, more money to pay off my motor...and in turn eventually be more tuning money for my E98 tune :)
