Good luck today! I'd come down and help out but I'm gonna be putting another muffler on my car today.

Today was nice and productive, but I'll let Scheides drop the details.

Was pretty hung over this morning but finally got started around 1130 or so. Engine is mostly assembled (cams and timing side stuff left off for now) but the oil pump & chain, oil pan, head, flywheel, clutch, trans are all bolted together and hanging from 3 motor mounts in the engine bay :)

I may go back out and bolt up the tcase, turbo, axels and ecu yet tonight.

Thanks do Dane (dzeust) for getting me going and the donuts, and Thielen and Spaz for helping with the hard parts. Got it all done w/o too much banging and swearing!

Headed back out for another session and basically just kicked some bolts around, didn't get much done. Working by yourself is the pits, manuvering the turbo in place and trying to thread bolts in at the same time is impossible on this car. Aside from the transfer case, clutch slave and shifter linkage, everything else gave me problems: all the accessories, I seem to be short a bag of bolts or something because everything I try to put in has 3/4 bolts of 5/6 or something, its kinda insane. You can't be too organized I guess.

Got the turbo setup sorta refreshed: fresh o-rings, copper washers, and coolant hoses, and got the maifold coated:

Shitty stuff? Slightly bent the lip of the oil pan while installing the motor. NBD will get it as flat as possible when I go to put the timing cover on. In the bussle of the project I skipped this stuipd little filter:

It goes in the block, from the top, under the head. FML. Trying to figure out if I need it or not, may have to yank the head back off. I would have yanked the head off immediately but brookdale already closed for the day.

All in all I'm pumped and just exhausted, so far to go but so close too. I'll update on the cam situation and such but until then its work and family time so the car will probably have to sit for a tish longer than I wanted it to.

It's very intense screwing that valve down, sorry I couldn't stay longer, glad you got a lot done though!

Yeah, those flamidation valves can be a bitch. Can't do without them, though.

Wish I could have been there to see how some of that is done. If my psychic powers were more functional then I would have known weather would cancel my overnight work at the office.

Heh there's nothing magical about it, one bolt at a time, check torque specs and take your time. I got a ton done today but I still feel frustrated with the amount of work left to go. Just a tough spot to stop, I wish I was further along. One step at a time I guess :D

The only internal filter I have is the oil pickup chube. I say forget about that little torpedo filter, lol.

I know the feeling dude. The only thing I could do was every time I would get frustrated I would sit and think about being stranded in a car because I fucked something up while it being -20 outside and how pissed off I would be at myself.

Awesome work man...looking great...good choice on your head setup, DB guys porting seems to work out well :) Don't copy me or nothing ;)

LOL stock frame turbo, ported head, making good power for what you got--a 2.0 4cyl....yes you definitely paved the way on that one ;)

Still you have a good setup and going with proven parts/combos really is all I ever want to do. Def first hand data taken to heart and if I can get anywhere near your 460whp @32psi (or maybe 400 on just pump?) I'll be a happy happy guy.

I was more so joking about the DB ported head deal ;) I don't pretend to be an innovator in the sport compact world, lol

460whp on @32psi??? You hinting at your fuel being different now?? ;) Or just if you run race fuel or something.

Hah I was just ribbing you a little, I know what you were talking about :)

And no I was trying to say (with alky or e85) if my car hit anywhere near 460 at around 30psi I'll be very happy. We'll see what she does on pump gas though, cause that's all I'll be able to run for a while. Need to quit spending money, but an undertray sure would be nice to protect this thing while ripping through snow banks this winter :D

I'm not sure what Shane was running for timing on my car but it certainly sounds do-able. I can't really complain about the BBX.

I saw your post discussing fasteners. I'm debating what I'm going to do since I already own the APR splitter. I might ditch it for an undertray and a non-Aero splitter. I'm not going to make a decision until Spring. I'll see what you end up with. :)
