Yeah, I definitely have the itch. I am going to Vegas a week before the SO. Aug is gonna be great Vegas then the SO I cant wait. But, I have to put that stupid car back together one of these days. LOL.

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 06-26-2004 01:37 AM

Bump for the DSM Shootout!!!! Who's still going? It's only a month and a week away. :secret:

carltalon 06-26-2004 01:55 AM

IM there. If the cars not broke I"ll drive it there. I'll pull it home with the winter beater.

TheBlizzard 06-26-2004 07:37 AM

I am there still, same plans, JET, Curtis, and I are staying at the track in a RV.

AJ 06-26-2004 10:23 AM

Still planning on it!

Alpine TSi 06-26-2004 11:46 AM

Looky

I was looking through this and saw near the middle that inspections won't be made for a 4G64 block, but will be if someone complains.... What does this mean for all of those running the 2.4 here? :secret:

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 06-26-2004 01:07 PM

Doesn't mean anything because there won't be anyone here in the quick 16. ;)

JET 06-26-2004 01:11 PM

That means we would be in trouble for running a 2.4l block in the Q16. Looks like I won't be trying to make a repeat appearance. DSE class for me!

Jet made it last year on high 11's...You think the field has changed that much that the guys here hoping to run 10's won't make it in???

Chris

TheBlizzard 06-26-2004 03:24 PM

Yeah Chris there will be a lot more fast cars there this year, a lot of people have been running some insane times this year already. An 11 isn't going to get you shit there this year. There will be a bunch of 9 sec DSMs and even more 10 sec ones. You will have to have some crazy shit to make any waves there this year. That why I sit in the stands and drink....

CRAIG

JET 06-26-2004 07:27 PM

Bah, 1/2 the people with fast cars won't be there, just like last year. I think a low 11 will give you a good shot. A 10 should be a pretty sure bet. Not like you have to worry anyway Chris, a 4g64 isn't eligible for quick 16, so Nash and John are the only one's from our group that could go for it.

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 06-27-2004 12:54 AM

When you know shep and Curt Brown are in the class though, you know better that you're not gonna stand a chance at winning.

JET 06-27-2004 12:46 PM

Yeah, and the Buschur starion and orange hugger car. Curt Brown parted out his car though, so I don't know if he will be there. The shell is still for sale last I heard. I am not sure if he is going to something new or not.

v8klla 06-27-2004 12:52 PM

Yeah I read about the 4g64 thing, that seems kind of odd, but I guess Buschur can do whatever he wants...I guess Marco won't be running in the quick 16 either?

I was thinking I would try and run in it and hope that no one challenged my engine size, then I remembered what my license plate says ;) Probably wouldn't be fast enough anyways, lack of funding is hurting my modding progress.

Chris

AJ 06-27-2004 12:55 PM

Some people are forgetting the main point of the shootout. Have some fun and get that once a year chance to chat with people you've met either at the SO or on some of the forums. Shit look at what I drive. I am just going for the fun of it all!

JustROLLIN 06-27-2004 01:18 PM

AJ, I am with ya on this one. Racing is only half the fun of the SO. So many random people to meet down there..

TheBlizzard 06-27-2004 02:24 PM

Yeah and don't forget the scooter competitions.

Who cares about winning. We already know we won't win crap. Qualifying and getting to lose to something like Sheps car is fun enough. I wonder if the 4G64s can run in DSM Elim and the other classes though. DSM Elim is a tough class, thats where your going to run against some true street cars that are capable of 10s without nitrous with a full interior.

Are any of the local EVO guys going with us this year? I don't follow the EVO boards at all, any idea if there will be a big EVO turnout besides the old school DSM guys who bought EVOs also?

If there is a miracle, me and Mara(2001 DSM Shootout Home Depot Award winner) might have 1 of our POS DSMs back running again by the Shootout. Or maybe if Allah steps in, Momin will actually have his DSM running and goto his first shootout.

I think 4G64's are ok for Q16 and brackets, but maybe not the other classes? Doesn't he says 3S's and Mirages are welcome for brackets and the Q16? So I can't see why a 4G64 would be a problem.

Alpine TSi 06-28-2004 01:59 PM

Did you read the topic I put the link up to? :uh:

Yes I did, but it looks like he contradicts himself. Because after the first post he says (in reference to the 3S class):

"You guys are still welcome but will have to either qualify for Q16 or run brackets. The FWD class has also been eliminated because of a weak turn out next year. "

And then later says:

"A Mirage or any other car that is NOT a DSM has never been allowed to run in any class but Q16 and brackets anyway. "

It must only be a problem if "someone complains", but for that to happen someone actually has to beat the almighty 4G63. ;)

JDM 07-08-2004 03:03 PM

Does anyone still need hotel space at BW? I have 2 spots left....

If we fill all spots in my room it'll be about $25/night per person.

AJ 07-20-2004 01:04 PM

Well, Jana and I are officially not going to be making this event this year. Fucking bummed but We had to make a choice on this or the Pro Rally and we decided on the Rally this year. Have fun everyone.

v8klla 07-20-2004 01:54 PM

Son of a... Just kidding, man are you going to be missing out with the caliber of the MN cars this year!

I can't decide if I want to do a hotel room or rent a camper and tow my shit down there! Decisions decisions...

either way I think my group is going to head to the roller coaster park that is close by on Saturday, anyone else interested?

Chris

Jana 07-20-2004 02:12 PM

Trust me, we are both bummed. OH well, there's always another year...

JET 07-20-2004 02:30 PM

Craig, Curtis, my dad and I are going to be camping at the track. It should be a good time! I am pulling my car down on a dolley behind the motorhome.

SlowWhite 07-20-2004 02:50 PM

Wish I could go but to many days off already this year.

1QUICK4 07-20-2004 04:45 PM

I'll be there crashing with JDM and Rolling Joe. It should be a blast. I'm just dreading my Silverado's gas milage with the AWD on a 20ft flatbed.

What time/day is everyone heading out?

JET 07-20-2004 05:21 PM

We won't be able to caravan with everyone else because of the RV. I think it was Steve H. who was talking about making a slow vehicle caravan? I think dad said he wanted to do 68 or something like that. You should be able to get a good draft behind a 28' motorhome too :D

You are welcome to join us Brian! We were thinking very early Thurs, like 5am. I am open to suggestions though. That should put us in Chicago at noon.

Sounds good to me. Slow caravans rock :jammin:

JustROLLIN 07-26-2004 09:39 PM

Is anyone up for a little faster caravan? I was planning on pulling out about 6am or so. I dont remeber the route so I would like to head with someone who does.

We should catch up to the "slow caravan" in WI somewhere. ;)

91nbtsi 08-04-2004 07:25 PM

Just wondering when these caravans are all planning to leave forsure. A few of us guys from Moorhead/Fargo area are planning on going and are wondering when we should load up the cars and go. We will most likely be pulling our cars on a trailer. Let me know the times when you are all leaving.
Thanks,
Nate Burgess

JustROLLIN 08-04-2004 10:09 PM

I believe the trailer group is heading out around 5am. So, you guys would have to leave at about 330 - 4am to catch up.

JET 08-05-2004 12:34 AM

There are 3 of us in the trailer caravan so far. Would 5am work for you guys? That would put us into Chicago at noon and out by 1:30. That should be the best time to get through there.

v8klla 08-05-2004 02:25 AM

Wait why are you leaving on thursday? Am I missing something here?

Chris

JET 08-05-2004 07:11 AM

We always leave on Thurs. That gets you there Thurs evening and gives you Friday to prep the car and run Friday evening at the track.

fmicmatt 08-05-2004 08:37 AM

Hey JET, I'm coming too..........Could you guys save a camp site for me? I'll be there friday afternoon. No car.....just spectatin'. I bringing my Jeep w/all necessary camping crap......And a spare 2G AWD Trans. Its goanna' ROCK!

Thanks-Matt

JET 08-05-2004 09:29 AM

Yeah, we can do that. I am trying to remember if my dad has an awning on the RV or not. If so, you could probably be under that in case it rains.

5am from Champs?

91nbtsi 08-05-2004 11:03 AM

Dang, you boys are leaving early. I think we will leave Moorhead after work, so we will just have to catch up with you in OH. It would be cool to have all the MN guys camping in a group, don't know if that will work out or not.

Nate
