Well if south carolina had any hope of the flag stay flying with the defense of heritage not hate. Thats been pretty much shot now. The kkk. As already announced they are going to March on the capitol. And have already got there permits etc supposedly. And of course what flag are they waiving.

The confederate flag that people are flipping out over wasn't actually any flag that the South used. It was a symbol. I'm about 2 steps away from slapping a confederate flag sticker on the top of the BMW just to piss people the fuck off.

Well i used to drive around here and see maybe 1 house with the confederate flag.

Now a days (like today) I passed at least 26 houses flying the flag out front.

I could care less if people fly that flag but as we discussed, it doesnt belong on govt property. We dont fly any other old flags anywhere else. Either embrace the US flag or move to mexico.

I never said I have southern pride, but after living here for 6 years (nearly half of my adult life, 2/3 of my working life) I do understand it (just like you took pride in CA when you lived there). The quote I posted stands as accurate.

I don't understand the argument that the Confederate flag should be flown to remember those who fought and died for the Confederacy. The Confederate States of America existed for the sole reason of maintaining a way of life that believed in human slavery.

Why don't we fly a British flag or an American flag from the late 1700's at the U.S capitol to remember those who died in the American Revolution?

Being of irish decent and my ancestors were slaves here in america before the blacks thay ever saw the confederate flag were. I find this whole thing, offensive. You dont here me fussing about wanting anything, why because no one alive today ever was a slave.

Hell Im not surprised the native Americans arent saying they want the american flag gone as thats probably the most offensive thing you wave in there face id imagine

Yes.

It is the confederate battle flag. Thats what it was being flown as.

And ill put it to you like this. It was the english who enslaved the irish for almost 250yrs before deciding to stop on there own free will.

They are the ones who created the term "Milato" as they thought mixing irish women with black men would increase there cost per slave.

And maybe its because they dont teach it in schools, or dedicate and entire month (40% of my kids yearly history grade is based on that one month) to learning about it that allowed the anger or hatred to go away.
And it has always been my childhood dreams to fight during the battle of Britain (I always dreamed I was a wwII fighter pilot, and based ever history report I was allowed to on that fight.
I would gladly have fought for great britain.

But that's just me. I never experienced being a slave and none of my ancestors since I've been alive ever discussed it or brought it up or made it apart of my household discussions.

I dont feel like im entitled to any special treatments and I certainly dont look at the British flag in hatred.

You do know that the civil war happened because the south didn't want to give up their slaves, who all happened to be black, right?
