Nope! Never will! Perk of the job :D

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Haven't done much as far as mods this summer as it's pretty much how I want it other than nitrous and I don't think I'll put nitrous on it. Too much of a headache.
I did lower the front and back a little bit more this year though. Gives it a solid stance with my stretched tires :spin: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps6xo5tem4.jpg Earlier this month at proving grounds was the best it's gone. Bike weighed 395lbs which I was pretty pumped about. I ended up weighing 225 suited which I wasn't so pumped about lol. If I could lose 20 lbs over the winter I could get this thing into the 8s on pump gas then keep getting better launches I think I could be there pretty consistently. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psdcihol6t.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psxovmlcta.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psnbi0t0dn.jpg Picked up a cruiser this week though so probably put some money into making that my own. Maybe make a thread on that too if I get bored. Kind of hope I could run 11.99 on this thing lol http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps9bbhgbzr.jpg |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Those time are so consistent, awesome work Brad.
|
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Seriously, change the exhaust on the cruiser. That thing is a cannon and looks goofy and out of place with the rest of the bike.
Or just replace the can with this: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...GunExhaust.jpg |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Always loved warriors, nice! Only gripe about those is the stupid exhaust pipe, no idea what they were thinking.

The bike had some Vance and Hines Big Radius on it for a little while before he took them off. He had them coated black and I remember when I rode it with the pipes it sounded good and remember them looking really nice when they were blacked out. No money now but probably see if I can score a good deal on something this winter so got time to decide. I'll have to make sure they don't scrape either, this thing has been getting the pegs scrapped pretty hard this past weekend lol |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Does the warrior wheelie?
|
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Ended up going to a 520 drag chain and currently have a -1/+7 sprocket on the bike. I also have a +6 sprocket in case the +7 is too much gearing. Went with an aluminum rear sprocket and got some aluminum sprocket nuts to try and save a little weight. Didn't save a ton of weight but saved a bit.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psjsoqgxoi.jpg Before I changed the sprockets a busa wanted to race the bike so a quick run was done against that bike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhxFHQGk6-c&hd=1 Since I am pretty desperate for 8s on pump gas and I didn't save that much weight with the 520 setup, I plan on running with no rear caliper at the track this weekend. Couldn't believe how much that stuff weighed. Finger crossed between the new drag chain and sprocket combo and rider weight loss mod of around 10-15lbs, I can crack off that 8 on pump gas http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pslznbzvvy.jpg Also had a local college photography student come over and take some pictures of the bike while I worked on it and took a cool one when I was done> Photo cred to Logan Baxter Photography http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psmx5kvm0w.jpg |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Love it, our bikes couldn't be any more different; but we are both racing Kawi's baby.
|
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
LOL damn dude! Change out all the bolts for aluminum and get CF body work. Remove one caliper and rotor up front!
Awesome on the rider mod, just don't forget to poop in the morning and take ex lax the night before. Can't wait to see what this thing runs. I might be able to come out Sunday and snap photos if I can hitch a ride or something. |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Damn you smoked that fool on that fat bike.
Stay safe out there. |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
That fat bike is fat. Weigh almost hundred pounds more then that light liter bike.

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Desperate for those 8s I went and got some World Wide ceramic wheel bearings lol
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psu75fk0mg.jpg Went back to the track on October 1st and only got 4 passes in as the track was just packed. Went 9.0 twice then 9.1 and a 9.2 on 2 wheelies. Brought the dog and he loved the track as a few other buddies had dogs and it was like a puppy play date at the track lol. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pslcerf5wz.jpg Kind of bummed I didn't get that 8 I decided to go back again on the 8th for one last shot at it, and I was pumped I did. First pass off the trailer it went 8.9 and knew it was going to be a good day. Ended up running 8.8's 5 times and went 8.9 4 times. Bike was fuckin moving this weekend in the cooler air. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psrbr9hz5c.jpg Now I kind of want to try and set the bike up for some standing mile stuff and see if I can hit that 200mph mark. |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Woo woo! Awesome job man! Glad you got that 8. You think the bearings helped or just the cooler air?

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Finally got around to putting together a quick video of me and paul racing against our buddy with a turbo busa. Pauls on the blue bike with a big bore motor and we were pretty damn close, but he edges me out. The poor turbo busa was just fighting traction issues as it was pretty cold out and the bike needs help with the setup.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az5vZsACa_Q&hd=1 Starting to work on this thing again! Kinda miss tinkering out in the garage. Going to pull the motor and send off the head off to get some head work done. Plan is to deck the head, port work, valve job, degree'd cams and thinner headgasket. The guy who is doing my head said he did a similar build for one of his customers and he made 209 on race gas and 199 on pump gas. I'd be extremely pumped to get 200 on race gas as that'd be a huge increase over what it makes now. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pscggzh5bp.jpg Going to try losing about 10-15ish more lbs between me and riding gear this winter. Hopefully with being lighter and that head work and race gas the bike can dip into the 8.6's so I can say its a mid 8 second bike lol. Then after doing a track day or 2 in the spring I'm going to put it back to stock wheel base, do a couple aero modifications and see if this thing can do 200mph in a mile and a half out in Maine in September. Should be a fun year!:split: |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Weren't you pondering the idea of using race bodywork for more aero?
|
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Your bike will fly with the head work. Woot woot. Can't wait for next year and some swb roll. Hopefully it's will be a better race when I can use 1st gear

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
I'd bet you get me on the street easy peasy, I ain't going to be trapping what you trap.
Be fun to line up against each other at the track though and on some deserted highway in Canada lol |

Got the motor out today! Now just gotta take the head off and get it shipped out, hope to ship it out in the next week or so. |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Still trying to make that Kawi fast eh?
|
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Yea I guess, probably have this bike for a long long time at this rate!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psg79hj5f2.jpg Got the head shipped out monday and the guy got it today and already started working on it. He said it was the cleanest 10 head he's ever gotten as far as exhaust ports/chamber goes. Pumped to put it all back together and hopefully make good power and run some good times. My online bench racing calculator says if I can lose like 10 more lbs I could possibly be knocking on 160mph traps |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
paging all those 6466 & bigger turbo cars!!!

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Guy texted me some pics last night. I think it's looking good but I'm a noob at headwork. Hopefully it makes good power and I don't have any extra bolts left when it's all together lol

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Well photobucket can suck a fat one and making people pay for pictures. Oh well, time to move onto something better, maybe I'll go back and update the thread with pictures again if I ever get a ton of free time...
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4291/...de3c75f7_c.jpg Bike finally made it back on the road yesterday for a quick ride in 90 degree temps with high humidity and the bike ran good! It definitley needs more fuel than before the headwork. I noticed the bike going a bit lean even in the mid range with just barely, barely getting on it. So that's a good sign there might be some more ponies to be had! Hope to try and get some more miles on it this week/weekend and try and get the tune dialed in as best I can on pump gas. If I can get the tune dialed in over the weekend and all is well with the bike, there is a bike night on the 25th with a mobile dyno. I'm tempted to throw a street tire on the bike and see what it makes extended on a street tire in hot summer temps. Ideally I'd like to go back on the dyno after I get a mr12 tune done on it, back to swb and cool fall temps to try and get some better dick swinging numbers out of it. There is also a track day on August 12th I want to try and make it out to. Probably swap out to the track plastics if I make it out the the track then after the track I'll be raising the forks a bit to fit that big ugly lsr fender on it and putting the stock arm back on. Then hopefully out to Maine for the Loring 1.5 miles land speed event on Sept 1st! But I'm so pumped it has ran good so far and has no leaks or issues. I was thinking for a while the bike would be sitting in the garage like this forever and ever https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4302/...6cf7c029_c.jpg |

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Got a few little things done to this thing this week. Got some TST Industries levers. They seem pretty good quality for the money and they had awesome customer service. Figured for the mile the less things I have sticking out the better!
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4359/...dcac3788_c.jpg Comparison looking down https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4381/...ff1db30f_c.jpg I have a front picture too from my camera that shows it a bit better too. They ended up saving about 1oz over stock levers Also got in some metal valve stems to be legal for the standing 1.5 mile racing. I'll put these in when I swap over back to normal street tires. I also got a new shorter 520 chain for when I put the stock swing arm back on it hopefully next week. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4409/...9bbd64df_c.jpg I swapped on the track plastics I found for a good deal. I weighed stuff without the belly pan and figured I saved about 8.5 lbs but forgot I didn't include the stock seat in my weighing. So think stock seat is about a 1lb or so, so maybe saved at least 9lbs. Also got a new clear windscreen so I can actually see through it in a tuck. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4362/...50928807_c.jpg I wasn't a huge fan of the green at first, but it is kind of growing on me. I'll run without the belly pan at the drag strip, I don't want to come down from a wheelie and wreck it. Does look nice I think being slammed with the belly pan though. I also race my buddy with another gen 4 with all the same mods less the head work stuff. He dead hooks on the street from rolls and I spin a bit but was fun to get out there and do some highway pulls again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTwmDHGvP4Y&hd=1 Plan to get out on the track this Saturday so tested the new to me trailer out and seems like it'll be slick. Excited to be able to load everything up the night before then just hop in the truck in the morning and head out. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4425/...107103e1_c.jpg |
