Thanks guys.

Here is a pic at night. The outside rings are more noticeable. I need to do it with a better camera, or play with my settings. The inside ring is just a ring when you look at it but it overexposed in the pic.

Re: Project GTL!

Couple updates: I plasti-dipped the wheels. I used the glossifer as a clear and am very happy with the results. Gives it a satin finish.

Also got my windows tinted this weekend. I went with 35% all around. I wanted darker, but the rear window already had 35% on it and I didn't want the car to look funny! I also put a visor on.

onto the pics...

Re: Project GTL!

How many coats of black and how many coats of glossifier did you use? I was thinking of maybe trying this to do the 'color-match' section on my passat.

oh PS--car looks good!

Re: Project GTL!

3-4 light coats. And prob 2 light coats of gloss. I used 3 cans of black on wheels and 1 can of gloss. Can of each should be plenty for ya. Menard s is the best place to buy it.

Yeah I'd like to get it down a little. Haven't decided what springs yet.

Big update here! :)

Scored a craigslist deal this week. Picked up a set of Cooper Weathermaster snow tires. have about 8-9/32 of tread left. Picked up all 4 for $40! Should be all set for ripping it up in the snow now!

I am pulling mine and painting body color. Hughes needs to do the same on the C7!

Re: Project GTL!

Ha, you're probably right! Ideally, I'd like clear lens with colored bulbs.

JET 09-11-2014 12:11 PM

Re: Project GTL!

Ahh, the 335 ones are just reflectors so no bulbs to deal with. I still have clear side lights at the back of the fender with amber bulbs in them. I never paid attention, maybe they are just turn signals? Now I will have to look!

Killer deal on those tires, I am looking for some also. I was going to buy new, but should keep an eye on CL for something like that.

Re: Project GTL!

Got a couple updates this morning. Found a set of Weathertech mats for the fronts off craigslist about a month ago for a good price so I'll be rocking those this winter. Will be nice to keep the carpet cleaner. (also found a set for my wife's A3 as well!)

Got this in the mail today! Found a good deal on it, and couldn't pass it up. The stock knob is long and not weighted. This cuts out about 3/4" and has some weight to it. Definitely improves the shift feel. Please excuse my extremely dirty interior!

After (tried to take from same location/angle so you could see the height difference.

Yeah should be. The old was was just plastic... fake metal though.

I used to leave a glove over the shift knob of the evo in the winter.

Re: Project GTL!

I have that same shift knob!

I did just put the stocker back on and the added height is more comfortable, but makes for more notchy/longer shifts.

I'm going to say that in the E90, or just how I have the seat, this is better. the other shift knob was more up a reach upward. This is closer to level. But we'll see once I get some more miles on it.

turbotalon1g 10-29-2014 12:03 PM

Re: Project GTL!

Nice, this shift knob was noticable lower and not line with the arm rest or my arm.

Sounds like this is a better mod for your car vs mine.

Re: Project GTL!

Lots of huge upgrades going on here!! :) I haven't done much with this car except drive it and enjoy it.

I found a nice set of summer wheels and finally got them on a couple weeks ago. Avant Garde 18x8. I was happy to get a good deal on them, they are made for bmw, have the correct center bore and an ///M logo to help increase my douchyness.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/7y...0=w858-h643-no

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/OL...0=w858-h643-no

I plasti-dipped them black with glossifier, much to some people's dismay, I still love black wheels. The car felt way to "blingy" for me when they were shiny...if I ever get sick of them I can always peel it off!

You ever had to get tires installed or removed on dipped wheels? I just had it done and it totally ruined the dip. Not a big deal, just peeled it all off, but wondering if everyone has the same issue

I have had a different set remounted a couple times, I'm sure it depends on the wheel shape and the machine being used. I did wait till these tires got mounted to do it though. It definitely has it's ups/downs. At least it is easy to apply and take off!

YES!

I personally liked the silver for contrast, but to each their own! I like the style of the wheels for sure.

I seem to be a kick with them lately! I have a very similar set on the Audi as well. Just look nice on a lot of cars IMO.
