Re: JET's 335Xi
That's not bad, the Yedda gets 25-26 in traffic.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
I get ~21.5mpg on my commute, but it is all back roads with lots of stoplights and only 13 miles long.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
It's a bit early for me to say but I hit 28ish on the way home from Boston, the stop and go in Chi-town killed a tank down below 26... and got 21 on my last tank of commuting and "enjoying my new car"

Re: JET's 335Xi
Little update: MPG's still over 2 MPG improvement still. I repainted the steering wheel trim that was pealing. Changing the fluids to Redline D4 seemed to make no improvement in shifting from the OEM, in some cases it has made shifting slightly harsh in some gears. Id say the OEM fluid is still the best option which I will change out too after the next oil change.
In other news I hit a giant ice chunk on my way home and destroyed the engine splash shield and cracked the paint on the bumper. The impact was enough to ruin one of the TPMS antennas in the fender well as a result, the tpms light is displaying Inactive in the dash. Doah! More improvements to come. I have new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports sitting in the garage in 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 sizes. |

Re: JET's 335Xi
On a side note I have picked up about 1mpg from the tune also. I wasn't expecting that and I tend to get on it more also. I have a dealer visit in about 1k miles just for an inspection, then when I put the JB4 back in I am putting the flex fuel wires on and will start running E40. That will be plenty of octane to max the turbo. That should put me around 360whp. You can gain about 20whp from the FMIC and DP total to get to 380whp at it is completely maxed.
I might get an FMIC this year, but won't be doing a DP until the warranty runs out probably as they are a bitch to change and they could use it as an excuse to void warranties. The FMIC is going to be hard to prove that is could do anything to void the warranty. I will probably also do the trans flash. On a side note I found out my car already had a JB4 on it previously. Not real happy about that, but I figured it had a tune. The person that spec'd the car was obviously an enthusiast. |
Re: JET's 335Xi
Service appointment is scheduled for next Tuesday, so flex fuel wires will be going on shortly after that. I should be sitting at 360whp once I get the E50 in it.
Well I sold the AEM from the talon so I have some more money to play with. I should be able to get all of the visual mods done that I want to do. That will probably be all I am doing to the car this year. I will be painting the portion of the diffuser that is flush to the body and leave the rest black. http://www.dukedynamics.com/products...b/DSC_0376.jpg Boring stock diffuser. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1267901408 |
Re: JET's 335Xi
Does this replace the whole bumper or just diffuser?
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Just the diffuser. M-tech only as the others don't have a separate diffuser. $275 but shipping is high at $95. It is sad when a Kia has a more interesting diffuser than the stock one!
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
I got my car back from the dealer last night. I put the flex fuel wires in the harness and I will be switching to the higher boost autotuning map and adding ~E40 tonight! I am excited! Dyno day on Saturday at MAP, so we will see what she puts down. Any other BMW peeps going on the short cruise/dyno day?

Re: JET's 335Xi
So you will be custom blending at the pump? Too bad nobody around up there or down here has the blender pumps.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Yeah, I haven't found any blender pumps around this area. I will be filling up with 7 gal of e85 and 8 gallons of 92. No stations that offer E85 and 93 oct in the area either. I did find 2 stations next door to each other that have both but it probably isn't worth it for the boost I will be running. The turbo can only put out about 21 psi in the mid range. E20 would probably be enough for me.

Re: JET's 335Xi
I should peak over 18psi, but it falls off hard over 5500. I think the map 1 I am running right now maxes at 12.5psi. I am expecting much horsetorques!
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Wow, I'm glad that Rosey/Spaz told me about this thread!! I should have come over this site a bit more. Didn't know that Shawn and Rosey both got into BMW as well. As for me, sadly, sold my IX a week ago. But, surprisingly, I might be picking up a 2011 335xi coupe soon. If the deal goes thru, that'd be funnnnnnnn.
For JET, yes, JB4 MAP 1 is set to run 12.5psi max. Maybe you can try the MAP 5 and see. Here is more about the JB4 http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13189 Shawn, your misfiring problems could be due to the well known HPFP issue N54 has been suffering. In fact, some of the early 2011/N55 might have that issue too. :-( Well, I will pretty much follow JET's modding path 1) BMS Oil Catch Can 2) JB4 3) DP catless (lucky we live in MN) By the way, do any of you know how to code the "auto window/sunroof rollup"? I must get the "auto mirror folding", not sure if Motorwerk would code them though? :VP2: Quote:

Re: JET's 335Xi
Yep, I switched over to map 5 yesterday when I put the E85 in. I haven't had much of a chance to get on it (I will tomorrow), but it definitely feels different. It pulls harder, but the newer software doesn't hit quite as hard. Easier on the drivetrain and still pulls really strong. Looks like map 5 can go up to 17psi. I might have to tweak the map more later and get a little more boost out of it. Seeing how I am Xdrive and 6AT, I will probably put down around 340whp tomorrow at MAP. We'll see soon!
Oh, I am not doing a catless DP until my warranty is up. Just to big of a possibility of them denying my warranty. Just put my charge pipe (UICP) on tonight, no performance gains but the stock one is plastic and likes to break at higher boost levels. |
Re: JET's 335Xi
Well I dyno'd today and the AWD system eats up more power than I thought it did. I searched for more stock #'s and 255/272 seemed pretty common for Xi's with an AT. Looking at that I got a pretty good bump in power, 306whp and 399wtq (one run had a blip to 408, but it was an anomaly). There was a DCT RWD car there with JB and downpipes and he put down 344/365 I think. I wish I would have been thinking and logged my runs. I just got the tune in and hadn't logged anything yet. Not bad, but I definitely need a bigger turbo.

3.0L love 67mm turbos, just saying.....
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Very nice. Nice on the DCT car too, wish my car had one of those.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Jet, thanks for sharing. Did the other guys run on JB Map 5 also? And is his also running e85? Did it throw any CEL on dynojet?
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
His was E85 also. AWD is costing me about 20whp the auto another 15. No CEL's. I did get a goofy reset after I drove it. Not sure the AWD setup liked the dyno since the rollers aren't linked. Here is video of it, nothing exciting.

Re: JET's 335Xi
Yep, the car isn't happy about something. Racing a modded G35S tonight and it threw me in to the stock map after flashing the CEL. I also noticed on the first race with him that it was lowering the boost in the middle of the rev range(beat him by 2 car lengths to 80). I am going to toss the laptop in and do a little logging tomorrow after work.

Re: JET's 335Xi
JET - keep us updated. And I finalized the deal and have the car in my garage now :-) Before reading into the JB4 stuff, i first need to finish all the menus though - just spent a good 20 mins to set up the homelinks - had to run back and forth like a monky :-)
Quick question - as for 93 pump gas, i believe the majority on here and EvoMN would vote for BP, but besides BP, are other ones you can recommend on? How about Costco premium gas? It claims it provides 5 times more protection and cleaner, and in fact, I do like all Kirland products - especially the Toilet paper ;-) |

Hughes- running 10.2:1 compression and boost makes things a little trickier than normal, not to mention DI. It looks like everything is just fine now, I logged about 5 runs last night. I need to see what levels of E85 we have too, I don't have a tester. |

Re: JET's 335Xi
Well I didn't even have to do a boost leak test. I had been thinking about it recently and wondered what was sealing up the metal coupler side of the charge pipe. I did some more checking and I pulled a noob mistake. The new pipe didn't come with an o-ring and the other one came off with the old pipe and didn't stay on the TB. I pulled it apart tonight and got the o-ring in there.
So, I have been running with a huge boost leak! That explains why the dyno fell off so bad and I was not holding boost as good up top as I thought. Now I want to get back on the dyno! I can't wait to drive it tomorrow and see the difference. |
Re: JET's 335Xi
Yikes, turbo was workin hard! Glad it was an easy fix.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Excellent news! I bet it feels a whole lot better now.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Yeah, it pulls much harder now and doesn't fall off up top as bad. I tagged Chris Carey on FB to see if I could get in for a couple of pulls to see how it looks now. I am very impressed with the car for only having a tune on it. It is definitely a 12 sec car now, which isn't bad for it weighing almost 4k lbs.
|
Re: JET's 335Xi
Good to know about the o-ring thingy. I will definitely watch out for that if I ever come to it. Keep us updated.

Re: JET's 335Xi
Hey, i've just come across this BMW recall on 2010-2012 http://www.autoblog.com/2014/04/11/b...ars-worldwide/
Did you guys get any alert or mail regarding to this recall? I believe Jet's and Rosey's are on the list. |
