They should probably require people to do a few laps with an instructor before open lapping, especially if they have a high powered car.

Do they do any tech inspections?

I know chumpcars have nowhere near the power of some of those cars, but I have never seen anyone come close to that wall beyond 12. All the more reason to be careful about letting inexperienced people let fly with those things.

At the same time, you can only protect people from themselves so much.

Holy cow. This all re-enforces my fear/respect for turnsies. I'm a straight line guy, not that it doesn't come without it's own risks either. I just don't have the balls for hard turns at high mph.

The guy in the Subaru was pretty experienced, it wasn't his first time by any means.

Stuff like this happens, and I really hope more people start to take road course stuff more seriously. I cant tell you how many people I lectured this weekend about car prep (specifically brakes).

There were three instructors giving rides Sunday morning. I went out with a guy in a 400whp Evo on slicks. Scared the crap out of me, but he showed me all the lines and had a lot of good advice. The other newbs went with one of the girls in an STI. We ended passing a lot higher horsepower Z06 that couldn't put down the power in the rain. AWD dominated the day yesterday.

That was my take-away from the weekend, I'll be upgrading my brakes before I ever get out on the course again. I could feel mine fading by the end of each session but would come back -5% each time the new session started.

After a quick tune on E85, I estimate I was making about 350whp, so power was definitely not a problem.

Anyone else besides me dying to see some footage of this madness!? Wades insane run of 9.2 what did Mark run? I heard about spazzy today as well, sounds like quite a few people have issues with brakes...and making sure their vehicle is up to par. Im sure spaz wasnt being reckless he is a pretty good driver at least from what ive seen and heard over the years on this forum :( Im sad about his evo...even more disturbed about his injuries hope he recovers soon!

I have wades and many others runs at the drag strip and i am putting together a killer video for style. we were in the sweets so sound was kinda quiet but thats ok I can add some music to it all. maybe some of my own music just for taste.

White supra from Canada went 10.2 I believe.

Honda Nate ran his first ever 9 sec pass, was a 9.94

Wade and his 9.2 was awesome, hoping to see him run some 8's this year

Kyle drove our Evo to a new personal best of 9.39 and both of our Camaro's ran new bests. The 2010 equipped with our stage 2 package went 12.49@115 and the 69 went 10.7@129 on 12psi :)

Yeah only made 2 full passes with the new set up. Also there's another 150whp to use so I'm sure it has more in it. Not to mention its went better at the 60ft&330ft before and only back handed 27mph!:redface:

This was the first pass and the vacuum line for the BOV came off and only made 21psi.

So I pulled up did a 3rd gear burn out.
Pulled up to the light and the other lane already had staged.
I turn both lights on hit the 2 step at 8500rpm and wait to see the 3 yellows and they never came. (9 sec of 2 step according to my log) I let off and shut the car off and the drop the tree and the guy walks in front of my car and motions that there pushing me back so I open the door and wave the guy over and he could see there was nothing wrong with my car. He apologized and reset the light, I started the car back up and prestage and the coolant temp gauge is almost pegged at 230* and just staged and made the 9.9 pass basically over heating. :cheer:

I guess everyone standing close by we're telling at them also.

Nate Wade, Great passes and congrats on breaking into the 9's for the first time. Nice work. I saw each pass go down, they looked great. Wade that was an awesome 60 foot on the 9.22 run, car looked smooth! Nate its impressive that you were only on 27 PSI, that's less than what most people run around on the street with these days.

I couldn't get anything going that weekend, but it was good to see you guys have success!

Similar thing happened to me there on my 10sec run a couple years ago. In my vid you can see that we both staged and bounce off the 2-step for maybe 4 seconds and finally let off.

I was watching when Nate was staging, the official was saying the car was leaking fluids, that's why they didn't drop the lights. I'm not sure who saw that, I didn't see anything.
