Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
You left the detachable steering wheel on the roof in the last pic just to show off--ricer! :P
What did those ducts feed before, just general air to the engine bay? Any other detriment to cutting off that original airflow? I guess all that air will still get to the engine bay, jus will go through the intercooler first. Also where does air get expelled from the engine bay? You'd think that positive pressure behind the intercooler would become an issue at some point. |

Yea the side scoops just provided air to the engine bay. I directed about 50% of that to the intercooler, so yea the overall flow might suffer a bit, but the upside is I removed the rear panel so air can basically just flow out the back of the car. I'll post up a pic of mine installed next week, but here is basically what it will look like: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0033_large.jpg |
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S

Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Got most of the interior finished up tonight, but I ran out of carpet. I need about a 20x40" section to finish behind the passenger seat. Here is what I started with, an awkward shaped piece of fiberglass:
http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/da.../bare_wall.jpg I cut a couple thin pieces of foam to make it mostly flat http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/675/foam_1.jpg Then cut out the 2" thick piece of high density foam that really seems to absorb sound well: http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/675/foam_2.jpg http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/da.../foam_glue.jpg Behind the seat belt you can see foam facing the other direction, there were huge empty pockets back there with some holes straight to the engine bay, I bet a lot of noise was coming from there so I filled them with foam too: http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/data/675/foam_3.jpg Here is the driver side carpet installed, sorry it was dark out and couldn't get a really good pic: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/carpet_1.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...m/carpet_2.jpg |

Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Nice little bunk you're building back there! Just park on a steep hill and cuddle up for the night!
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Finished the carpet today, lucky Menards had the exact same carpet in stock. Here is the finished product with harness bar installed. You can the see anti sub belts mounted through the floor on the passenger side.

I painted the console with plastidip tonight, turned out pretty good. The only thing I don't like about it is it leaves fingerprints and dirt marks really easy. Compare to how I received the car, I think it's a ton nicer. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...le_painted.jpghttp://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...interior_2.jpg New carbon wing! http://www.dsmstyle.com/photopost/da...arbon_wing.jpg |
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Very nice!!!

Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
That looks a lot nicer than how you got it, a bit more classy too.

Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
The console looks good, but I like the wing better!
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
still busy with work right now Andrew. I think the only time I will be able to take a ride is tomorrow is either around 4ish or later at night (hopefully I am not bombed after the sales guys take us out).
Maybe pm me your number and I can text you tomorrow and see if you are free. |
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
You could of just PM'd that.
What's next to do? |

Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
I do think it's kind of ironic that you're taking a factory race car and adding sound deadener and carpet, especially around this board. :D

I normally wouldn't care, but the sound level was just brutal, to the point of hearing loss when going over 70mph for extended periods of time. I am fine with the bouncy & uncomfortable ride but super loud is another story. Aren't all the old guys on this forum making their cars quieter anyway? :spin: LOL, just thought that the couple pounds I saved with that carbon wing should make up for the couple pounds of foam and carpet! |
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Very nice, you better be dodging them cones this year in this thing.
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Looks good and the interior looks way better now than when you got it!
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Very nice! Looks much better than the sparse interior it had before. It's like the "Asshanson Lux Package"
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
I love it, nice setup. Still 200 pounds lighter than stock, really!? That's bonkers.

Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
I cringe at the no AC or heat either, thats going to be a cold cruise next weekend and sweatin balls this summer. lol
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
Electric heater? Water bottle fan?
|
Re: 2007 Lotus Exige S
I drove it around in 45 degree weather and was not cold at all. No AC might suck in the summer, but I'll just take the top off! All the heat/AC stuff was removed by the prior owner, at least it still has a vent fan.
And yes, I'm going to verify weight at a truck scale sometime this week and eventually use corner weights at the shop where I am getting tuned. |
