You load up the front end with those traction bars that shane has. How do you think he Tuned Nate's civic, or Shaun's supra? Shane can do it.

It helps too if you're car isn't honda slammed either, that way you can get the straps nice and tight. Bring it to Shane though, he'll go out of his way to make sure the car is good to go and you're walking away a happy customer!

This is what the dyno day is for ;) Do some street tuning and bring it, then talk to shane about a full tune if all goes well :)

That sounds like a good idea. Although street tuning is gonna be very difficult. I'd have to try a 4th gear pull and even then I'll probably spin or wheel hop a little and by the time I'm in the upper rpm's I'd be going a ridiculous speed.

I would just want 1 hour of good clean dyno tuning and be good from there. I don't really have the money to be dynoing the car for trial and error. I guess we'll see what happens when the time comes.

Get a co-pilot/tuner/driver for sure.
When I'm at home, my wife knows how to tune DSMlink as good as I do, prolly better than most dsmers, lol.

Exhaust time!

Got the missing piece to my exhaust in the mail thanks to Mark. (tkrperformance)

So I started with the o2 housing. Right away I noticed a problem. The flange hit the LICP and the oil filter. My solution was to add about 2" so the flange sat lower and that gave me the clearance I needed. I also was able to get a better angle on it to bolt up to the downpipe.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1030038.jpg

Next was my downpipe. My downpipe reduced down to 2.5" like most do to bolt up to the o2 housing, But mine is 3" all the way through. So I used the new 3-bolt flange I got from mark and after measuring 15 times and cutting twice ;) I was able to weld it up.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1030041.jpg

You can also see I dented the o2 housing so I can get the oil filter off. It's a tight fit.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1030040.jpg

Then I welded some bolts to act as studs to make the install MUCH easier. Here is a pic to show off my s1ck gas-less mig welding skillZ. :guns:

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1030036.jpg

After getting everything back together and started the car. I got to hear the sweet sound of exhaust leak coming from the o2 housing. So I had to take everything off just to find out the o2 housing surface was completely warped.

Big thanks to Mike (CarPsyco84) he was able to get the surface as straight as possible. WAY better then it was before. It used to actually rock back and forth on the turbo.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1030047.jpg

Now I'm gonna be picking up a new o2 housing gasket from map and then I'll be able to bolt everything back together. I'm also looking for an FP exhaust manifold to replace my DNP since I wont need to run a spacer with it. If I don't find an FP manifold soon then I'll just stick with the DNP for now and enjoy the setup.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Were you having O2 housing sealing problems before? That flange is too thin, would be very prone to warping. Looks like you guys got it flatten out though.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

I couldn't tell you. I've never ran any of these parts before. If it warps again I'll just buy the flange and cut this one off and weld a new one on.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Just got a FP manifold and heatsheild for a great deal! Probably won't use the heatsheild since I don't like the way they look. The plan is to get it ceramic coated black like the DNP mani.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Good choice on the FP manifold. I think you should repaint your engine bay, clean up those "shaved" holes b/c you can see them. Get as much as you can powdercoated and shined (or dulled lol) up. Think of the cookout... the trophy... the glory!

4g63tcrazy 02-21-2010 08:14 PM

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

I have been thinking of stripping the paint off the firewall and welding the holes and repainting. It really looks like shit now. I would probably just do that top section though. The rest of the paint is pretty decent.

Right now I can't decide if I should wait and save up some cash to get all the hot parts ceramic coated. Or put it all together and just wrap the FP. I have read that even with the ceramic coating the FP manifold gets really hot. I just can't stand heat in the engine bay, it drives me nuts. If I decide to get all the parts ceramic coated I'll probably end up still wrapping the FP mani.

Anyone know a place that can match my paint code and put it into a spray can?

The NAPA next that my work has a account through can order paint matched paint. I'll see if I can order you a can and you can pay me back.

You can also pm craig. He can get it at his store and we get a good style discount there on everything

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Well in that case the paint code is R11 flash red :) So any parts store should be able to do it?

Got my FP manifold today. :) Gonna drop the manifold and exhaust housing off at Primo to get ceramic coated. Still decided if I should do the o2 housing as well..

I would coat the whole works, that's what I'm having them do on my new setup. Otherwise the o2 housing just looks ugly and out of place ya know?

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

the paint code in a can works pretty good but you got to expect it to look a small shade off, unless your going to wet sand it and clear coat it

If you look at my valve cover I used ford red and it almost looks identical. With red you can be off a little and it's hard to notice.

That's the debate I'm having. Pretty sure I'll have it coated also..

Picked up some coil spring boosters from autozone the other night. That with my AWD lowering springs should help out a little with traction.

Took my type s apart today and cleaned it all up. The inside of it had a lot of oil residue in it. I polished the base of it and painted the top red. Also drilled and tapped the bov flange.

Spent 6 HOURS hand polishing the compressor cover tonight.. It's my first time doing it and I would say it turned out pretty good. :) Started off with 100grit, then 220, 400, 800, then finally 1000. It's safe to say I'll probably never do this again.

Put it all together today. I've been driving it around for the passed hour tuning it in. Taking a break right now to let the battery charge up on my computer then I'm going back at it. :)
