Re: Evo X upgrades
Well that's the beauty of this section! Some post pics of what they're doing, some post thoughts and comments on what they're thinking of doing for their project...then pics come when the parts come in (hopefully) and end result of each component and its impact on the awesomeness of the car :D

I did post a pic of the adjuster that I spent a few hours fiddling with this weekend. Tonight I'm going to be replacing the fuel line into the rail...not interesting but necessary. http://www.robispec.com/images/produ...lovers_thb.jpg |
Re: Evo X upgrades
They didn't at least install them so they were level? Thats aweful man, no wonder they ride like crap! Was the preload set on the springs at all? Maybe that's why its so bouncy. Coilovers are not just a slap-in-and-go install.

The other reason I've put off fixing the rear height is that I've never adjusted ride height before and I'm not sure if the wheel has to come off to do it right or not. There sure isn't much clearance in the wheel-well area on these cars. Just something else on the long list of things that I need to learn/figure out. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Yep, you'll want to take off the tire to make changing the ride height easier. You'll probably have to do the process a few times to get it exact, but it'll be worth it.
That's pretty wack that RS didn't ask what kind ride height you wanted and set it to that. I wanna see what this thing does when that new turbo gets slapped on it, should move out pretty good. |

1) ACT HD w/6-puck sprung & Prolite flywheel 2) Cosworth MX1/springs/head gasket, Arp head studs & rod bolts 3) Full-Race tubular manifold, CBRD BB-X turbo I'll have an o2 bung installed when the downpipe is off, then I'll install a PLX wideband/boost/ODBII gauge setup in an AMI A-pillar. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Wow, I wanna ride in this thing if you come to the Spring Dyno day or cruise!!

Re: Evo X upgrades
I thought the new turbo wasn't out yet from CBRD?

It's based on the Dom2.0 that is already available but should have a little more top-end to compete better with the FP Red. Up until now the Doms have done about 450 (on a complete bolt on car) whereas the Reds could do 480. Isn't the FP Black the big dog for the 8/9's now? |
Re: Evo X upgrades
CBRD makes a billet 35R (or 3076? I can't remember) compressor wheel, they call it the TAK33R. The numbers out of it have been fantastic, and this BB-X turbo's compressor wheel is apparently based on that compressor wheel, and its rated at 57lbs/min.
Most other EvoX stock-frame turbo upgrades gained power while 'featuring' a loss in torque (vs the stock turbo), even when running E85/high boost. This is detarded to me, as I went from 350wtq to 400wtq when going from an IX turbo to my BBK, so why on earth would anyone want 450whp and only 330wtq? CBRD has said that if a stock turbo is doing ~310whp/300wtq on their dyno (on pump gas), this BB-X will gain 60+whp and 20+wtq. I can't wait to see what actual numbers come out of this turbo. I just found this graph showing the BB-X holding 30psi perfectly flat until 7500rpm....yummy: http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t..._boostPlot.jpg |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Thats what I was thinking but wasn't sure so I had to ask! Cant wait to see what the X puts down!

Re: Evo X upgrades
The automotive porn has started to arrive. Time to schedule the clutch install--the parts for the other projects will be trickling in for a couple weeks.

I'll undoubtedly install the double pump, fpr, and gauges myself over the next few months but that's the easy stuff. |

I was ask specifically to get the height as close to factory as possible. The rears worked out fine but the front I can only get to where its at now which is 3/4 lower than factory. I shouldn't have to defend myself but some of these comments are too much. And every single one has no basis but to say something bad about the shop. New year same ol stuff. |

A 3/4" drop will take a little edge off of the 4x4 look while still giving me enough ground clearance to drive without worrying about scraping anything. |

I got nothing against you or RS, not sure what else to say, calm down ;) |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Buy an OEM Mitsu TOB to go along with that ACT clutch.

Ronnie, just curious here, but why is it that about one out of every three or four posts here, you are defending you or your shop in some way? just curious....

Wow! I love that color!

Re: Evo X upgrades
Do it! Love those wheels on the X
|
Re: Evo X upgrades
I think those would look good too!
|
Re: Evo X upgrades
They were $3100 last time I checked. I found them as low as $2800. Depends on size too. I was checking out 18". What size are you planning to get?

I've read that an 18x9.5, 28 offset will fit 275/35's. I had previous thought that 22 offset and 265's was as far as you could go without rolling fenders...so I was surprised to hear otherwise. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Gotta be honest, not a fan of the bronze. Nice rims though! 275 is nice :D

Re: Evo X upgrades
I ordered the Volks today. Vivid Racing actually had a set on order and I should have them inside a month--of course I don't need them until late March or even April.
The Full-Race manifold came today. The welds are very nice. Think I should wrap them or have them hi-temp coated? I'm not sure how to go with that. http://mlomker.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8...7cb38a2970b-pi . http://mlomker.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8...7cb38b0970b-pi . http://mlomker.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8...7cb38a9970b-pi |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Thats a good looking piece, it would almost be a shame to wrap it.
|
Re: Evo X upgrades
Wow, that is a beautiful manifold.
|
Re: Evo X upgrades
I would say don't wrap it, but do get it ceramic coated inside and out. It'll help keep underhood temps down.
|
Re: Evo X upgrades
Nice. I say do a clear ceramic coating so you can show it off!
