Also. I can drop off the three manifolds going up north tonight, but I can't leave till 10pm or so. So if one of you guys is going to be around, let me know when and where. Otherwise, tomarrow night works for me too.

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

I dropped off the three "up north" intakes at Primo tonight around 11pm. Thanks again guys.

I'm gonna try to figure out my Internet issue in the morning so I can get some info up.

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

I got it. I had some issues with our server allowing me to create a new section on our website. I figure just posting a link may be the easiest way to do this. Hopefully, my boss dosent mind!

So, all I have left to do is connect the links, and its ready to go. Unless somthing blows up in my face, tomarrow afternoon.

Also, I got word from beyond redline that inshouldnhave their manifold here to test Monday. I'm hoping to do iceminions old magnus and cyclone, swiftys jmf drag and 1g, and the beyondredline manifolds all early next week. Monday or Tuesday. So more info will follow this first goaround that's getting put out tomarrow.

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

Sorry to keep posting after myself, but I figured id give you guys an update.

I have atleast 4 more manifolds coming this weekend. I might have even tracked down a AMS VSR. Seeing I am going to have a lot more to add, I think I am going to hold off on putting the page up with the results for a few more days. If anybody thinks this a huge mistake, please let me know.

Also, I have sent some rough drafts to a few magazines, to see if we can get this published. I think it would be pretty cool to have somthing that started here on mitsustyle go in a national magazine!

Read post 74.

I want to come get it, but it's hard when I'm 200 miles away. I will come as soon as I can.

Someone should bring me my manifold since I delivered them. :^)

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

Change the name of the manifold I sent you to the "Street" version, the "Race" version just needs the end cap and TB flange welded on, will be done tonight. When could I drop this one off and get the other one?

iroc_g 12-21-2008 01:45 PM

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

I'll change the name today if I can get some time at the computer. Were running a short staff this weekend on account of the weather, so it's hard to sneak away to the computer.

If your coming to race Monday again, just swap them then. I've got a few others coming in soon too, so looks like annother flow session is around the corner.

Looks nice!!!! Any chance your going to flow a 1g/2g intake for a base reference?

WOW! I am extremely suprised with the results. Thanks a bunch for doing this and my Venom isnt that bad for the $200 i got it for after all!! :)

Iceminion is going to bring me a cyclone when he picks his magnus. I'm going to try to get my 1g off tonight and do that as well.

Nice work to LSE (John?)!

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

Thanks for the results. Not my area of expertise, so I'll wait to here what others say. But doesn't look like my (new) JMF did all that bad in compared to most of the competition thus far. At least in this test that is. I'm sure there's plenty more to an IM's performance other then what was tested here.

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

Wow looks like Magnus FTL. So what would 11-18% difference on # 1 do to our cars on a moded motor?

asshanson 12-22-2008 10:00 PM

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

Good info, now we need to have some interpretation on all that data. LSE's looked really good on paper, but how would the larger volume affect performance on different setups? Things like that I don't know.

EDIT: Also how do I tell if I have the new or old JMF intake? The engraved logo I have looks like brandon's, does that make it the new version?

I'm assuming, your losing power on #1. Figure just that cylinder is running nearly 20% richer than the rest...

Nice page! Looks like John might have to start making some of those manifolds?

That or a few cylinders are running lean if people tune on the edge which could be bad.

Looks to me like the LSE prototype. Good flow numbers and very consistant. Others have good numbers but, they lack consistency.

I would think you would have a much better chance or running rich on that cyl. With 75% comming from the other 3 cyl chances are you would likely be pulling more of a the tune off them. My guess....???

iroc_g 12-22-2008 10:57 PM

Re: SMIM Showdown! Lets figure this out once and for all!

As you guys are noticing, what I really did notice wasn't the differences in peak numbers, but consistency of the manifold. Hell, these all are pretty close max flow. To get the engine running optimumly with a "faulty" manifold, you would have to have the ability to tune fuel delivery per cylinder.

Beyond that, an engine is going to run best, and behave the best if all 4 cylinders are making the same amount of power. If you have one runner that has 10% less air, you wold have reduce the fuel accordingly. But in doing this, that cylinder will make less power because it is consuming less air/fuel mixture.
