Re: Project AutoX domination!
Looking good! looking forward to seeing them all mounted up this summer
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Unless your autoXing you probably won't see them. Unless I drive to OC with them once. These are for my R compound tires, they won't see much street time.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
You need to go full baller on this one and drive them on the street.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
^word.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
His street tires have enough grip for daily driving I am sure. Plasma cutter might be in order. Do they stick out more then Jessie's rim/tire combo?
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Yeah, they stick out more than Jessie's by a lot, he only had 9" wide rims on his car.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
What are their specs?
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
17x10 and only 17lbs. 18mm offset.
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Dang, thats a crazy low offset!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
About the highest I could go would be ~25mm, that would get me ~3mm clearnace to the strut. But with the lower offset I can run wider tires later if I chose to.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
Since I'm planning on more TQ and more traction I decided to add a little more strength to my drive train. This is called a Transfercase brace, and it eliminates the 1st weak spot in my drive train. The transfercase housings like to crack when launching with a lot of power and grip. The braces are proved to be quite effective, a number of people have run 10 second 1/4 mile times for a few years with out cracking the case with a brace.

10" wide SLICKS =
http://www.roadsterdrift.com/home/wp...ool-702026.gif Update: I hooked up my oil temp and pressure gauges. The coolant temp is wired, but I need to install the sensor. The boost gauge will be down under the radio. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Gauges, those are only used for tuning of is something goes wrong. I do not think I looked at any of my 5 gauges in my car when I was driving it. But that is a really nice Tcase brace, so nice I do not see the need to make a better one, that does not happen often, enough.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
Very nice brace Ryan. :)

Re: Project AutoX domination!
I knew I shouldn't have read through this thread..haha. I get the itch to get a 3/s sooo bad. I should just man up, fix the talon, and buy one this summer.

The blue thing in Niterydr's avatar is what tainted me.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
The blue thing in his avatar got my taint all over it when no one was looking. ;)

Re: Project AutoX domination!
On a more serious note, I pulled an intake pipe off to measure for couplers, and found that my "new" turbo's have been fucked up by some piece of random (no longer present) debris that I didn't manage to get out of the system from the turbo explosion. Glad these little fuckers are cheap, is all I can say. Not looking forward to putting ANOTHER pair of turbo's on.
I would assume it happend shortly after I put them on, but I really don't know. I haven't had the car apart at all since I put them on. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Wow that sucks, it cannot be fun swapping turbos on that. I helped do timing on my friends n/a r/t, and that was no fun.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
That's so gay! How long does it take to swap a pair of turbos on that car?
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Probably 2 days of straight working. That sucks dude. The compressor wheels got fucked?
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Yeah the compressor wheels are a bit fucked. The front one is worse than the rear, but they are both fucked up. It's not THAT bad to swap them, but it's a most of the day project. I don't plan changing them out unitll after I do the FMIC, no more taking chances. They still make boost ok, I hadn't noticed a difference at all.

Then I have an excuse to put in the built (not currently assembled) motor, billet oil pump gears and and valve springs in and rev it to 8500+ and autoX in 1st gear. :)

yay, 1st gear autocrossing. That's how I spun my first bearings!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
The G54B is not a REV monster and the gears are not long in a Starquest, you sould try 3rd or something. :D
On a side note, the intake pipes got done today, thanks to John, and I can't tell a bit of difference other than the turbo's are a little louder. I was expecting the BOV to a way louder than it is, most of the time I can hardly tell it's vented now. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
How loud is your exhaust? I can hear mine vented just fine.

Re: Project AutoX domination!
That sucks dude! Hurry up with the fmic already!
|
Re: Project AutoX domination!
Ehh, it will happen when it happens. I delayed it a little since I had some mandatory un-paid time off, but I worked on cars and made up the difference, so, I might get rolling on it soon here.
Edit: Just ordered piping. 2" hot side (from each turbo), 2.5" cold side(combined). Sizes are a little on the "small" side to help keep spool up and boost response. Looks like MAP is well priced on couplers, hope they have 2" in stock. |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
I have a crap ton of various 2.5" mild steel bends if you need any. And a few 2.5" couplers as well.
I hope I get to see the car sometime this summer! |
Re: Project AutoX domination!
I'm going aluminum for lightweight. :D
