More parts :D

Perrin 22mm adjustable rear anti-sway bar; should work very nicely with the Eibach ProKit lowering springs!

Megan bellmouth 3" catless downpipe; final part needed before the car gets tuned.

Re: WRX Mods

Downpipe and anti-sway bar installed! Thanks to Scheides, Anna, and Emily for lending a hand, and thanks to Shane for a Stage 2 base ROM to hold us over until Janelle is able to get in for a tune!

The swaybar install was a breeze and the downpipe wasn't too bad, it was just the stock heatshields that were a total PITA. Start to finish, including ECU testing/flashing, only took about 4 hours.

I'm sure Janelle will post pics later :)

Sweet!

I want to get a downpipe now.

Have to love the price to quality ratio on Megan exhaust pieces!

I've got that exact sway bar! A guy actually gave it to me for frizee! Pick up some solid endlinks and put that bad boy to use!

Kracka 03-08-2009 07:50 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Yeah the stock plastic end-links are weak as heck, plus they have rubber mounting points on either side :(

Kracka 03-08-2009 08:23 PM

These look like a good, lower cost, option:

Eh if you're going to buy something, you might as well get something worth the money. I found a set of Perrin links for $90 shipped, but I passed em up because I feel I can find a better deal. Some chick from the boards told me she picked up a set of cobb links for like $50 shipped.

Here's the Perrin links I was thinkin about.

Whiteline does great suspension work so I trust their products. I think those steel rod ones will be plenty for a 22mm bar, especially since they are much thicker than the stock Evo links that are supporting my 24mm bar.

Whiteline ftw!

Any Pics of installed Downpipe? Any Dyno results? or are you waiting till the spring Dyno Day?

Kracka 03-12-2009 12:18 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Janelle will be posting pics when she stops being lazy :D

Shane from DB (ecoli) gave us a Stage 2 base ROM to use for the time being, but as soon as we get a chance we'll be bringing it to him for a full dyno tune. Hopefully we'll be able to get it done later this month.

I see this is coming along very nicely, hopefully next time I see you guys on the highway we will have to test and compare.

OK well I tried to upload the pics last night... but either my pictures are too big or Scheides needs an update to the upload software... or both =P

Will get them up soon.

Kevin 1G Drummer 03-28-2009 08:10 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Not too bad! Definitely needs a bigger turbo.

scheides 03-28-2009 08:51 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Looks good janelle! Good solid power for only a handful of mods; that torque must be fun as hell! I think I smell a match: wrx vs gli! :)

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Tell Anna I'm ready whenever she is!

And there will be no new turbo... at least not anytime soon- I'm happy with my current setup and don't want to blow up my car. =)

goodhart 03-29-2009 03:13 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Wow, this thing looks damn nice, makes me jealous!

I thought the stock turbos on these things would have been able to get a little more boost out of them though?
Does this have the TD04 on it or is it a VF series?

WRX 03-29-2009 03:51 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Thanks
I'm not really shocked my little turbo didn't give me any more boost, but I'm still really happy with the torque and HP readings. (it's the TD04 and no plans to change that anytime soon)

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

The '06-07 WRX with a 2.5L engine uses the same turbo as the '02-05 WRX with 2.0L engine. Shane said this turbo is good for about 14 psi at redline on the 2.0L, but also mentioned the 2.5L is good for about 10-20whp more even with the lower boost levels.

goodhart 03-29-2009 04:04 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Same here, I plan on doing a downpipe, tune, and maybe lowering springs. Call it good just for the sake of having a reliable car. I'm probably going to do some more free mods soon though, like tinting taillights, and clearing and blacking out my headlight housings. Free Mods FTW!!

Kracka 03-29-2009 04:15 PM

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

You and Janelle should have a headlight day b/c she'd love to get the orange out of hers too.

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Looks good for power, I wouldn't do anything else unless you plan on doing something with the tranny. have to get the mini back in and see what it does, maybe line it up with ya.

Re: Janelle's WRX Mods

Nice car. It was fun running with it. Keep the plastic endlinks though. Solid ones make the car drive funny (swaybar reacts too fast and makes it too snappy, unless you get stiffer springs and such). The perrin ones i had also sat funny and clunked. I took them off my old WRX and went back to the stockers.
