Looks good, what a true DSM'er, the whole valve cover is full of tools. I swear that spot was made for that reason.

I'm home for one day. My roommates camera is nowhere to be found, so I just snapped a quick cell pic. Got my new coupler in the mail, had to trim it a little but got it mated to the NT TB. Just need to get the right hardware to mount the TB permanently, then clamp the coupler on!
BTW, 2.5" couplers are a lil bit of a PITA to stretch over this TB for those who want to use this TB in the future. You can see it's stretched a bit over that TB. It took a combo of Dawn soap, some preheating of the coupler in the oven, and lots of stretching to get it on finally. And the pics are deceiving, the coupler is on there all the way to the tall tabs. The pics make it look like it's on there only a tiny bit. ANywho, just glad I got something done while I was home for 1 day. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Very Nice!

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Also, received the LCD Ethanol display in the mail today. Thanks Merkzu.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Damn your new setup is coming together B....looks REALLY nice!
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Badass man, i want to do that, i mean switch to an NT throttle body.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
That looks really nice Brandon, now if only you can stay home for awhile and finish the thing.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I'm seriouslly almost getting to the point of just paying a shop to finish it up while I'm gone, but I hate doing that because I want to do it myself and do it the way I want it done.
But at the same time, I want to be able to enjoy it this Spring/Summer/Fall, and I'm going to basically be gone until May, so I'm kinda in between about it right now. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Do it your self Brandon, a lot cheaper and more satisfying. Plus then you know it was done right.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
That's how I feel as well. BUT, again, the question is "WHEN?" I won't be home hardly at all until beginning of May. By then it's already time to be driving it around and enjoying it. And hell that's why I mod it, to enjoy it. But if I have no time to get it running to enjoy it, well then that's why I'm considering just paying someone else to get it going. I dunno...
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Hey, if you have the means, I say have a shop do it. If I get a couple thousand dollars soon, I'll definately have a shop finish my quest. I've worked on it enough and it's not driving still, and I regret ever starting this huge project, and it seems like you are pretty close, so why not?
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
That was my dilemma too, too many things started to build up and I didn't have transportation to work on it very often, very happy with my decision to have a shop finish it up for me. Better than I could have done myself.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Honestly I know you want to enjoy your car as much as everyone else does. But I promise you will enjoy it more if you just do it your self. But that is just my opinion... If you really have the itch to drive it a decent amount this season and you can afford to have a shop take care of it for you, then I don't see what is stopping you.
Just my two cents. |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well I think what I'm going to do is this. I'm going to leave it in my garage. If all goes well, I should be back around the 31st, and I don't leave again until the 7th. That will give me a week to get a lot done on it. Then if I don't have it all done after that week, I will probably pay to have the last few things buttoned up. Right now it's just kind of a mess, bits and pieces in the valve cover, on the windshield, on the floor, on my shelves, etc. It'd be a real mess for somebody to try and locate all the parts and put it back together right now without me kind of organizing it more. So when I get back, that'll give me a chance to finish up a lot of it, get things more organized, and have it ready for someone else to button up. That way when I get back from Spain, it should be ready to start dialing in the new setup.

Black cherry ftw! Looks like it's coming along great!

I had to order some new 2.25" piping for my intake manifold. I originally bought 2.5" but ended up being bigger then I wanted. Ordered it from http://www.onlinemetals.com/http://d...reply&p=233311 Everything else except that 2.25" piping was ordered from discount steel. Also I just ordered all the parts to make myself a new fuel feed line that goes from the stock filter, to the fuel rail. Cost was $74 shipped from Summit. For anyone else that ever wants to make one, here's what I ordered, and the part numbers to order from Summit. EAR-350306ERL - 3' Earl's Pro-Lite 350 nylon braided hose, -6AN (You could save $ by just going with SS Braided line, but I opted for this because it's lighter and less abrasive then SS Braided, and also I like the black subtle look of it.) Earls P/N 991945 - 12mm x 1.25 to -6AN adapter (goes into the stock filter). SUM-220648B - 3/8NPT to -6AN adapter (will tap fuel rail to accept 3/8NPT end). SUM-220686B - 45* Hose Fitting -6AN SUM-220687B - 90* Hose Fitting -6AN |
Re: My Winter Upgrades
thats cool Brandon, how hot did you oven have to be to get that coupler on. I'm having issues withe the new couplers and my gm maft.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I don't really remember exactly. I think I turned it to like 150*, and let it sit in there for a few minutes. It was hot enough that I couldn't hold it in my bare hand for much more then 5 seconds. I had to wear gloves. Then I just slapped some dish soap on the inside of the coupler, and the outside of the TB Elbow to help it slide.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
ok thanks man
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades
I also had a very thin screwdriver that I used to help get it on. It took a good 10 minutes, full of cussing.
|
Re: My Winter Upgrades

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well I got home today, put together the fuel feed line. Now I have never assembled a SS braided line before, but I've heard the horror stories about how much of a PITA they can be. This nylon braided stuff was cake. I had both ends on within 5 minutes while sitting on my couch with no tools. I'm really glad I ordered that!

Just some quick shots. 2nd Walbro 255hp came in today. Also a pic of the fuel feed line. It's a bit long, I'll probably cut it in half about, but I was just playing with putting the ends on, and it was cake. Also some shots of the smim slowly coming together.
