Latest word from Raffi at Full-Race is tht pricing may be out at the end of sema, but it could also be after thanksgiving.

:(

If it is truely going to be that long, than I will be just sticking with the 84-75 I have because I need to start making some progress.

If you have to ask about the pricing, then you can't afford it. :)

First pricing I've see listed. The one I would have been interested in which is the 8374 w/ divided T4 and internal WG is around $3000 (part number 179357).

So yup, I'll just be sticking with the 84-75 I have now, im not ballin like that :D haha

Geebuz. Still cool, hopefully pricing comes down a bit eventually.

Full Race got their site updated a little bit with more info. Click on the turbo in the bar graph for pricing, comp maps, more info etc.

Re: Borg Warner Turbos

I'm confused by those numbers, a 67mm only rated to 49lb/min?

Halon 11-09-2010 08:17 AM

Re: Borg Warner Turbos

that's 67mm exducer. They name their turbos different than PTE. PTE uses comp inducer and turbine exducer (i.e. 6265)

BW uses comp exducer and turbine inducer (i.e. 83-74)

So the 67mm turbo you are looking at, would be more commonly referred to as a 53mm turbo (that's the inducer).

The 83-74 (a 62mm turbo) they rated at 79lb/min!!!

And the real 67mm turbo (91-80) they've rated at 94lb/min.

turbotalon1g 11-09-2010 08:42 AM

Re: Borg Warner Turbos

^Thanks for clearing that up, I would expect that 53mm turbo then to do 55+lb/min.

cool vid on the new efr stuff. amazing how much r&d goes into these before ever even being bolted onto a vehicle, and the testing they do also.

Some info from Geoff @ Full Race that I thought was useful.

If you go bigger on the compressor that is the same thing as going smaller on the turbine. I put up a bunch of posts explaining the U/C ratio of Compressor OD / Turbine Wheel OD in that big road racing turbo thread... basically divide the compressor OD by the turbine OD - an optimal match will be in the neighborhood of 1.09-1.18 whereas a mismatch turbo will be 1.18+... Also keep in mind that a small a/r will have low turbine efficiency at low flow rates, and higher turbine efficiency at higher flow rates. Conversely the large a/r will have high turbine efficiency at low flow rates and lower at high flow rates...

6blade compressor wheel -- ideal match ratio of ~1.14-1.24
7blade compressor wheel -- ideal match ratio of ~1.09-1.18

Figured I'd share some results I found from someone running my same 61mm turbo (BW S300sx 84-75) on a Supra with a .88AR T4 open exhaust housing and 264/264 cams. Thought they were some pretty good numbers for a 61mm.

Those seem like great numbers, I wonder how much is due to displacement.

Vassil made 725whp (DD) at 32 psi on a 2.0L

The EFR turbos are fantastic. I got to see some of the first cars at Full-Race that had these turbo's and I was super impressed. Here is a video of a friend from AZ that has one on his fully built RSX. Also not sure if you can see the links to the forum.

Re: Borg Warner Turbos

I need to jump into this thread...

My plan for spring is to go back to an internally gated setup, 90% sure I will be rocking the 7670 .92a/r BW EFR. I have spoken to a lot of people and it looks like its what I am looking for in terms of down low power and powerband, should have peak torque around 4k rpms.

Most who have tried this one on Evos say its a stock turbo on steroids feel, can't wait to try it out.

I have been very skeptical of BW turbos for a while, ever since they released the EFR's but almost every turbo in the top 5 for world time attack runs an EFR now. I have tried everything else, mind as well try this right?

Here is an Evo X comparison (2.2L motor) of the 7670 EFR vs the 9180 EFR

Re: Borg Warner Turbos

What are you skeptical of? They are an OEM turbo manufacturer, and their products/processes reflect this. So if quality/reliability and turbos that are easily serviced/rebuild-able, then come on in. No 1 brand is some magical gods gift to turbos. All depends what you are looking for. I will take a small HP hit if it means the turbo will last, which is why I continue to choose these.

It wasn't the reliability aspect at all. Hell, most of us evo noobs run OEM hogged out turbos that last 10k miles regardless of who makes them because they weren't designed to push that power in that housing etc. Ok, maybe not that grim, but yea reliability wasn't the issue I was worried about.

I was more curious on the hype of the EFR turbos. They pretty much made them sound like the best thing since sliced bread as they were completely designed from the ground up for maximum response. The more info I see on them the more I am excited to try it. I don't necessarily think they are that much better than other great turbos, but I think they will be far more reliable (precision and FP both seem to be problematic) and they do appear to be quite a bit more responsive with intergrated bov's and 3 ports and going t4 ts.

I liked my 6266 setup but it was lag city, it felt worse than it looked on paper I guess, trying to find a happy medium now.

Couple comparison pics of a PTE and BW turbo of similar "size" (62/63mm), but you can see the physical size is quite different.

On the left is a BW 88-75 (S363) .88AR open T4 exhaust housing.

On the right is a PTE 6266 .81AR open T4 exhaust housing.

Here is a stock motor evo x on e85 on the EFR 7670 I am looking at (.92A/R):

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...scd536431.jpeg

Very promising looking graph, its at 27psi falling to 25psi, so pretty mild tune.

Re: Borg Warner Turbos

Wow, evo x 2.2L on the EFR 9180, still stock head I think, so he thinks with that and better ignition should be knocking on 1000whp.

Another X just posted this on the stock 2.0L.

If my bonus this year is like last year, I will be running the full race t4 Twinscroll 7670 like this guy. 540whp on a stock motor and still heading up with more to go. I think this is looking like stock turbo with 600whp for me...yum.

stock 4b11 motor yo!

I plan to push close to 600wtq on my new setup. Hoping for a magical 600whp/600wtq at 32-34 psi with peak torque near 4000 rpms.
