Some people should stick to driving tanks like an old buick or soemthing.

JDM 11-22-2003 10:51 AM

well at least it's good to see what the thing looks like if something bad were to happen... WTF ... Did you guys happen to see the pics of the tool who accidentaly drove the Evo through the showroom glass?? Starts it in the show room... Thinks he has it in neutral... then revs it to 6k and drops the clutch.... oops.

Hey RacedGuy... do you have those pics??

JDM 11-22-2003 10:54 AM

Do you know what kind of engine problems they're havin' with the STi??? :stick:

520Talon 11-22-2003 03:12 PM

I went and checked out the EVO site and I guess there are quite a few in the upper 11's close to stock and a couple at mid 11's. I don't know where the subies are, some one else will have to chime in.

They did already notice a rust problem on the new EVO's. Where the bumper supports meet the body they are already rusting. There is a pic on there that shows a line of them on the dealers lot and they all have rust spots on the pavement below these spots.

I might wait a year or two before getting a new one.

Linky Deal

A//// Guy 11-22-2003 03:52 PM

That rust is really bad... sorry but my evo vote is gone. Cars are not supposed to rust like that even within 2 or 3 years....

JDM 11-22-2003 08:41 PM

The rust isnt as bad as alot of people are making it out to be, the only spot is behind the bumber support in the rear, and ist barley even surface rust. Not something to worry about at all. :bounce:

A//// Guy 11-22-2003 08:45 PM

Also where the frame joints connect... look at that forum closer. There are pics of one car that has unibody rust where the frame connects to each other. In 5 years those evos are going to be like swiss cheese... well atleast the bumpers that are plastic wont...

This might be a good car for Raptor as weight weduction will not take very much time and yoou dont have to do anything. ;)

JDM 11-23-2003 02:13 AM

I checked my car and it has no problems with the rust issues??? THis is ryan, just putting in my thoughts, :toast:

Iceman 11-23-2003 10:08 AM

Rust is free weight lose :)

AJ 11-23-2003 11:27 AM

Anyone bother to find out the other variables of how these cars will match up in 10 years when they are btoh used.

I think I read somewhere it's like comparing a civic and and an escort when new. Same playing field, but 10 years down the road whos still gonna have a running car?

Aj that is probably one of the best points I haven't thought about... I am planing to sink some money into this thing... I guess I should see if it will still run in 5 years...

And yes that rust is bad... WTF?? :razz2:

rhino 11-23-2003 04:06 PM

i would wait a year or two before you get either. if they pull either of the cars after a year, good luck trying to get parts and trying to sell it at a later date, resale value might be pretty low. i don't think subaru will pull the sti, but mitsu is unpredictable.

Yeah I pulled it out of some magazine. lol

JDM 11-24-2003 12:33 AM

Hey thanks a lot guys... you fuckin rule... If you have more input... please feel free... I still have a few months to make a decision... :bounce:

BuildADSM 11-24-2003 10:37 PM

I would go with the evo. The sti has some motor problems aka easy to blow up as with all wrx's ( I have heard) they do have rust issues but you could get a anti rust or whatever it is called spray on the underbody and bumper joint to fix that. ( I don't know what it is called but i think it is kinda like a clear coat the prevents rust...) Or you could just keep the car really clean... yeah right!
