Over the few years I have been in the community I have changed my tone quite a bit. I admit I use to be very very active in the street racing community, 4-5 times a week, cruising for races, etc..that all got shutdown hard that one night erik mentioned. And it was 4+hours for me erik :).
Raptor brings up a point, everyone has there wrong do-ings, some are just more 'mainstream' than others, and it really varies in each community. If you look around you do occasionally find me out and about, I wish we had a track locally to race on, the community is getting close to getting organized on an opinion, and thats a good way to start a movement. Street Racing is another reason I took my perfectly good running car apart. I knew I wouldn't have enough time to run it at the track for the next long while, so I would end up testing parts elsewhere. Since I didn't want to go down that path again, I decided it would be best to 'part it out' for the long run, that way when its back together, it would be only suited for the track. I sincerely hope we have a track by the time my project is completed. I still hang out, but the days of 'organized' street racing in 'herds' is long over. The police don't stand for it anymore, the public doesn't stand for it anymore, hell the 'street' racers don't stand for it anymore, im not talking about all the bunched up 15 second cars that watch 2fast 2 stupid every night before they go out. Im talking the 8-10 second street cars that gather in various locations. The guys that have been doing this for 5+years. The runs are usually heads up, only 1 or 2 per location, and spread out over a month. Long gone are the days when a 'colony' of fast cars can be formed within the twin cities. It might go on in other parts of the country, but I tip my had to the state patrol and St. Paul PD, they have done an outstanding job this year to contain the activity. I guess for me the 'thrill' of street racing in huge groups has all passed on. That is the point some of the 'senior' members of this board are trying to make, alot of us were there, alot of us have more to lose/more wisdom behind us. That being said, I understand the viewpoints of the people that continue to organize, I understand the thrill of doing it illegally, but please take it from me, don't amass in groups of 100's or more. Its very dangerous, and not nearly as much fun as getting a slip to 'prove how fast your 10 second car' really is. Just my $.02, if you don't like it :fworld: I guess my final thought is the big organized centeralized street racing is highly dangerous. When people are watching and grouped together, fights break out, people get run over, people get killed, I've been around for people getting hit on bikes and killed, being shot at, and fist fights, not fun stuff. |
Was the "fast car" a silver 2g? If so, it was Joe. I have seen him racing there before. He just looks fast cause all the other cars are slow and that he is AWD vs all FWD hondas on a short track.

The people that were caught racing were ticketed and got there cars towed. They got reckless driving and speeding. And I dont get why everyone is calling the people that were there dumbasses. I was there, I didnt race. I like to go there and talk about cars see some people and see some slow hondas try to be sweet. If thats is being a dumbass then shit, Im the biggest dumbass there is.

Yeah, I am way down in Owatonna and I heard all about the "event." The 2002 2 door purple accord with silver graphics and body kit is a buddy of mine. He got ripped into hard because they thought his car was an rx7 that had had been flying up and down. I didn't go for many obvious reasons, expecially my record. One of the cars that got towed was a 240sx with no vins on it what-so-ever. Really over all everyone so far seemed to get what they deserve from a law stand point. The whole 'Paul Walker' trans am guy, to me pisses me off, but thats life. You want to race someone, take it to the country. We have had races outside of town forever, but its usually a 3 car trip total. Not really suspicious there. Plus most of us just go to the track, and know who runs what times. People will always race, and like usual the slow and the stupid will stand out the most. I just find it hilarious that people still think they can hold a huge group race on a friday or saturday night. You wanna spectate? Heres an idea! Drive a shitty non rice/race car park it 4 blocks away, and stand there. Better yet be in a building or buy some property there, or even better yet - buy your own track etc. Thats my jumbled bunch of thoughts on the issue, dont like it Go Fuck Yourself. Its my thoughts and I am entitled to them as each to their own.

We used to race out in the boons of Yuma back when I had my eclipse. The area was out of Yuma PD's jurisdiction, but the county sheriff had jurisdiction. One day he showed up and all like 25 cars all took off. Then once we were into Yuma PD jurisdiction area they had a bunch of Yuma cops start chasing us. I guess you could say I was lucky cuz I had the fastest car outta the group that went our route. 3 cars got arrested that night that I know of, 2 were my friends. On the ride to the station, I guess the cops told my friends "Man that red firebird sure did smoke you guys!" Kinda funny cuz he thought my car was a firebird. That was about 2 years ago, and also the day i quit that shit. Figured I was real lucky and should learn from that. Never went back to those races ever again. I'll occasionally toy with other cars on the roads, but that's really about it. My street racing life is long over with. Maybe you all should consider this incident your warning shot and leave while your still ahead.

I probably wouldn't ever race at Transfer for the reason that there are too many close calls the way it is... people will pull out in front of a race, or someone will run across, and you hear brakes lock up. It just seems too unsafe with as many people there as there are.
But I do go down there on occasion. Mainly to hang out with friends and meet other people that share common interests. But it's amusing to see how slow some of the cars are... especially when they're lined up with much quicker ones. And I personally think the best part is when everyone runs from the cops. It's almost humorous... but I've always gotten a rush from those types of confrontations. I'm sure every member on this board is guilty of street racing at one point in time. If you're into cars, and you mod them, you've probably shown it off on the street before. Let the first innocent person throw the first stone. |
so this girl that walked around checking plates was it a cop or a female in plain clothes? If it was a plain clothes female did she have dark hair? kinda cute?
Just persay this track comes in close to the metro how many of you that were at transfer are actually going to say nah im not going street racing i'm saving it for a track. You put your selves in a stupid situation and then got caught and your bitchin, dont tell me getting caught wasn't on the back of your mind the entire time anyways. -joe |
Yeah, she was just a female in plain clothes walking around with a laptop. I dont remember her face at all. The cops were having their fun...telling stories about what happened when they came out. It was kinda funny listening to them.
Who had that red gsx? Was that you, stikx? I was watching this evo get his *** kicked by a red gsx off the line (then I couldnt see anymore). I was only there to watch for a few mins then go home and take a nap for the next day. That took a good hour off my sleep time. Went to RF that Saturday morning, it was fun. CarlTalon and I got there in like an hour, raced (legally, ;) ) and got a good time. Lost round two of eliminations and went home happy...haha. Sure was better than racing and getting caught. |
Yeah I am never going to an import day again the hell with that i usually get 3 or 4 runs at best on import day I had 9 runs on saturday because of the orginization and when a guy breaks they didn't continue to go down the track pissing oil. 8 or 9 runs and nothing broke
