Anybody ever driven County Rd O in Wisconsin? Very beautiful, scenic and twisty road. This is one road that we would have to behave on though. The troopers watch it like a hawk. But it is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

JDM has volunteered to be in charge of this. He will be the one posting up the date/details so stay tuned :)

Thanks JDM!

Well kids I'm looking at OCTOBER 23, 2004, which would be a Saturday. I assume that we will want some interstate driving mixed with some highway mayhem. If you have a good suggestion, please post it up, but don't put something like "well my buddies friend has a place over on this one road"... Specific road names, approx times, and exact location names for stops.

Post up...

I'd also be willing to help in making a route. I think it would be fun to skip through Mankato, Owatonna and Rochester, and all of the little places in between here and there.
JDM - We could start in the cities, drive down torwards St. Peter / Mankato area, take the secondary hwy 14 to waseca, connect to regialr HWY 14 keep going to rochester then go up torwards cities area from there. It would be quite the wild ride. I will make try to post up a map soon.

That would be about a 4 hour round trip without stops, I don't know what kind of length/time people are thinking.

I've gotten a few routes together, and I'd like to see how long of a trip you guys are willing to take.

Emcee's route would be about 6 hours with stops. See above

I've got a southeast MN route that would take a little longer than that, but it incorporates long stretches of highways, VERY curvy scenic roads, and lots of smaller towns to cruise:

US HWY 52 South to I90 W
Cannon Falls, Rochester approx Time at avg speed 65mph: 1hr, 40 min
Highway Runs Speed limit 65

I90 W to St Hwy 76 South. approx Time at avg speed 70mph: 35 min
Highway Runs Speed limit 70

Hwy 76 S to St Hwy 16. approx Time at avg speed 45 mph: 1 hr
Houston, Caledonia
Lots of curves and Hills, Very Scenic Speed Limits vary from 55 to 30 mph

St Hwy 16 to US HWY 52 North. approx Time at avg speed 50, 2 hrs 45 min
Spring Grove, Canton, Harmony, Preston, Fountain, Chatfield, Marion, Rochester, Cannon Falls
Moderate Curves, Hills Speed Limits Vary from 65 to 30

We would stop in Cannon Falls, Rochester, Caledonia, Preston, and again in Rochester, and again in Cannon Falls if needed.

If anyone has other routes in mind, please post up.

Also let me know how long of a cruise you would like to take.

Is this still going on?

JDM 09-30-2004 05:33 PM

I'm planing on it....

Anyone else?

Emcee gsxtc 10-01-2004 12:26 AM

I'm planning on it! I figured it would be a nice way of getting away from it all. I have at least 3-4 cars from South MN planning on it.

IneedaGSX 10-04-2004 12:53 PM

Just give me a date a I will see if I can work it in.

SlowWhite 10-04-2004 03:13 PM

I went on a 140 mile Bike Cruise yesterday. My first time to the casino in Redwing. Had a blast hitting the Twisty's on some of the roads.

Maybe Jenny will let me take the bike on this one. since my cars down? (depending on temp/weather of coarse)

MNExCiTeD 10-11-2004 01:44 PM

I'm game I've also have three other DSM's that would like go. Also if someone will drive it I have a van and a car trailer, I might need it!

MNExCiTeD 10-11-2004 02:13 PM

DSMPARTSGURU 10-11-2004 03:26 PM

Let me know what you think of this idea...

I thought we would start in Bloomington at Metro Mitsu, and make our rounds to each of the Mitsu dealerships. I'm talking to a few of them right now to see if they can sponsor some of this event so we would have stuff to give away, and a gerat way to showcase existing mitsu owners and their cars. We would do as follows...

Metro in Bloomington to Wayzata

Wayzata to Kline. Stop for Lunch at Bennigan's

Lunch to Brookdale

Brookdale to Forest Lake.

I'm gonna see if these dealerships will give at least give recognition to us. We'll see...

This way we cover All metro areas, and we don't stray from the Cities too far.

AJ 10-11-2004 04:32 PM

Why not get away from the cities. If you have any kind of turnout then going to these dealerships would be a pita for parking. Plus city driving would be a pain and not much crusiing woudl be involved.

I'd still like to get out and about on some nice curvy roads if I was to get in the event.

JDM 10-11-2004 04:41 PM

I've been making calls, and there is A LOT of support for this event should we stop in to these dealerships. Free stuff, food, good times etc. Not to mention we don't have to take interstates all the way to these spots either.

Any good local roads to cruise?

JustROLLIN 10-11-2004 10:52 PM

23rd is a track day.... might want to re-think the date.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, since it may be the only day in my life I run my car. To date, I have never made it to a track with my car running.
