Re: project darkness
Th350 will handle big power on a na motor. But on a turbo application I have heard them not holding up. Its possible to build a th350 to handle big turbo power but cost money and you have to find someone that knows what they are doing. But I want a transmission that will handle a lot more than I will make simple because I am real rough on stuff....

Re: project darkness
Well this a sad update. A buddy of mine rebuilt the transmission and fucked something up. I don't have second gear and the transmission over heats fast. Just after 1 pull I had transmission fluid all over the place. So the transmission need to come back out. But to make matters worse the motor started knocking. Sounds like a lifter went out. I have a buddy that works at the white bear lake super store. Hopefully he can figure out what it is for sure. Hopefully its an easy fix. If its not I will just pull the motor and replace with another 5.3. But I might just pull the motor band transmission out next weekend.

Re: project darkness
shitty man. Good thing 5.3's are cheap?

Re: project darkness
Update. Picked up a new motor and a built th400 transmission. I finally got the new motor and trans in the truck now. Hopefully next weekend I will have the truck up and running. I still have a decent amount of stuff to do to get it running again. I found a transmission cooler at work that is 24 inches wide and about 12 inches tall. I need to find 2 10 inch fans to mount on the trans cooler. I am mounting the trans cooler under the truck that's why I am mounting fans on it.

Very nice!!

Re: project darkness
hell yeah man

Re: project darkness
Well I got pretty far with the truck today. A couple more hours and it should be done. I need to bend new transmission lines that go up to the front of the truck. Install starter, bolt tq converter to flywheel, drill new holes for my trans cross brace, install drive shaft, and hope it starts. Hahaha.

New transmission cooler and I painted the valve covers candy apple red.

Re: project darkness
If you ever need your transmission rebuilt for big power, Paul at Proven Force knows his stuff. He's been building transmissions since the 80's.

Re: project darkness
I hope to god I don't need to do any more transmission work. This thing should be bullet proof for what kind of power I am making. But I will keep him in mind. I will hopefully be building another turbo Ls for my vette

Re: project darkness
Little update. Having a driveshaft built right now. So hopefully by next week the truck will be on the road. Just need the driveshaft and a new trans dipstick assembly. Iam going to daily drive it and fix a bunch of things this year if everything works smoothly.

Re: project darkness
Where are you having the driveshaft built?
|
Re: project darkness
Awesome man, can't wait to see this beast on the road.

Re: project darkness
Universal Driveline inc. The place is on hwy 61 in whitebear lake.
|
Re: project darkness
What size joints are you putting in there? How much is the whole shaft?
|
Re: project darkness
Iam using standard u joints and he said about 400 bucks. He said I could go bigger but its pointless if I dont change the yoke on the rear end.

Re: project darkness
Much excite to see this thing rolling for once! (my fault not yours)

Re: project darkness
Git-r-done!

Re: project darkness
