Yeah I saw 30% chance last night but the rain amount doesn't look too bad (course it's only Wednesday so that could change).

If only this was all last weekend...fuckin' Minnesota man...unreal.

Needs a rear wing or bumper, or perhaps a lower rear exhaust spoiler?

Eww I hate the lip/wing on the C5. I love the plain OEM rear on these. But I guess to each their own.

I bought my vette in the rain and drove it often in the rain, because black never stays clean anyway. I say drive it as long as there isn't snow.

Speaking of spoilers, I love the ducktail style spoilers on C5's. They don't really seem to work as well on all colors though.

Thanks Josh! I know the rear needs something but there's just nothing out there I really like. The ONLY option I'm somewhat considering right now is a new rear bumper with a ducktail molded in, but it's over my budget right now and I'm not pushing to get it quite yet:

I did plasti-dip the lower rear fascia black last night. I'm going to add some gloss to it, so it's not done yet (and the exhaust tips are loose still), but here it is as of this morning:

Not scared of rain, but I usually spend about 2 hours to wash the car so if it's going to rain that's 4 hours down the drain (before and after). Suppose I could just skip the before. That, and my tires don't do so well on wet pavement. As of this morning there's only .04" rain fall projected so I'm sure I'll be there.

It looks alright on black. I'm just not a fan of the bolted on wrap-around style look to it. I much prefer the yellow one I posted above.

'97 Thunderbird baby! Best winter car ever - V8, RWD and open rear diff :)

Picked it up 4 years ago with only 97k on the clock. Runs like a champ and I'm pretty sure I was the first owner to ever put it through a winter. It gets the job done...

Solid, I've driven one of those V8's before, they actually move pretty good!

Hell yeah! that is one of them, and my oldest brother owned one back when we were in high school and I lived in the Andover house.

Welp, I had some time on my hands this weekend and installed the ported FAST 92/90. Everything was pretty straightforward, just needed a new air bridge to put the MAF back at the stock location so I could re-route the vacuum line for the PCV system on the passenger side head.

I still have to shave the FRCs to clear the new mani too.

Got a tune scheduled on Monday so things are coming along!

Oh, and I need to pick up my sway bars from PowderKeg too.

Install sway bars, align, then drive the piss out of it for the rest of the year.

Next project? Brakes? Coilovers? Not sure yet...

Took a few new pictures yesterday. I was early to a car show with my neighbor's TT Viper (it's NASTY) and took a few pics:

Re: JohnnyT's C5 Z06 Build Thread

Wow, it's been 10 months since I've updated this thread. Well, not a whole lot new until this weekend really. Ordered parts a month ago and finally had some time to get them installed.

I focused my attention this year on suspension, handling and brakes. My biggest goal was to eliminate some of the brake-wheel gap in the rear as the OEM brakes are way too tiny for a 19" open wheel design. Luckily, C6 Z51 sized rotors swap right in with new caliper relocation brackets so it's a great 'budget' bigger brake kit. I gained 1.2" diameter in the rear and 0.8" in the front.

Parts list:
- C6 Z51 sized DBA T3 4000 series front and rear slotted rotors
- Hawk Ceramic pads
- Relocation brackets
- Doug Rippie's SS brake lines
- Doug Rippie's re-valved Bilstein shocks
- GM T1 sway bars and poly bushings (BEEFCAKE!)

And, here's how everything turned out:

http://oi62.tinypic.com/2nw3ml4.jpg

http://oi62.tinypic.com/296kg42.jpg

http://oi62.tinypic.com/2dgqo9e.jpg

I haven't had much time to drive it yet, but got the pads seated yesterday and all seems great so far. Ride quality is definitely improved with the Bilstein's. Need to get new tires and an alignment then I'll really be able to test those bars...
