Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
^Thanks Aaron!
Changed my oil the other day and hopefully get it tuned tomorrow on pump gas for the new velocity stacks/filter and then maybe do a race gas/nitrous tune or just spray it on pump gas and let er buck. Haven't fully decided yet, going to see what the guy says when I call him later today. Low and slow! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps3573a024.jpg |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Who are you having tune it?
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Going to Todd from Midnight Cycles. You guys scared me away from the Hitman guy and I've probably talked with Todd on the phone and in person for 2+ hours. I like that he makes the time to talk and seems to really know his stuff.
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Good choice! I agree he really does know his stuff and is very helpful. I remember right after I got the busa I was worried about the tune. If a turbo busa isn't tuned good it will pop head gaskets real quick. I brought my pc3 in and a copy of the map he checked out the map and looking at it he was able to tell I should be fine. He also loaded the newest firmware on the pc3 for me for free. Unfortunately I never did get around to having hm tune it

I was talking to a guy at lake calhouan and he had nothing but great feedback to tell me about midnight cycles, I'll be going there in a few weeks to talk about a tune my self. |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Yea Todd is a cool guy for sure, hope I can get it in for a tune next week. He was too busy last Friday/Saturday and the weather is shit this week.
Threw the bike on hitmans dyno last night. Only ended up making 151.9 and only 166 on spray. I'm thinking the bottle was pretty much empty and cold. Hope to get close to 160 after a tune and close to 200 on spray. Made 154 last year and 190 on spray on the same dyno well less mods. |

Well I got the bike back this past Friday (5/10) from Todd. He was able to get 155rwhp out of it on motor, was hoping for a little more but power curve looked decent, a/f was pretty much perfect and it seems to run a lot better so I'm happy about that! It came in with 150rwhp before the tune. The nitrous didn't work correctly again, I think the two pulls he did it only made 168 on a 40 shot. Hopefully I'll get a chance to look into it a bit tomorrow after work or Friday night. No picture of the graph as I was a little bummed it could only squeak out 155 and the nitrous didn't work haha. Also got a few more of my rolling shots from where there was still snow on the ground:split: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps4c35761c.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps26d57b7f.jpg Farthest I've ever worn down a tire... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps093b9758.jpg About the only other mod I have put on it were the passenger pegs back on it and a passenger seat to try and pick up dem whores! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps9905e883.jpg Big up to powder keg for making the passenger pegs and rear sets look so dang good! |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Ever figure out what was up with the nitrous? One of these days I'll Hafta order up some pass pegs and rear seat for the beetches but I just can't stand my stock pass seat, just doesn't flow like the solo cowl.

If there isn't any kinked lines or leaks then I'll take the solenoid off and clean it and try blasting out the hose with air. If anybody is bored they're more than welcome to come chill |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
I wish I was bored. We are gonna try and take a walk somewhere If I get close I'll text you.
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
That sucks about the nitrous! Hopefully it's an easy fix. If I wasn't busy till about 9 tonight I'd come help
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Haha shit happens. Shouldn't be anything major as I know it sprays, just not as big of a shot as it is supposed to be. I've got a few soleniods laying around too that I could always try too if the dynotune one is just taking a crap.
Todd said if I bring it back that he'd finish the nitrous tune for free too so I have to get cracking on it if i want to spray while out in Chicago at the end of the month. Just shoot me a text if ya make it out this way Aaron |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
That's sweet he'll finish the nitrous tune fir free!
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
I think he charged me for it up front but just feel like a good deal haha
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
If I didn't hafta work tonight I'd ride up there and help ya out. Are you tuned on just a PC or do you have the ignition module too?
|
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Yea getting my hairs cut at 7 so probably run home after work and pull the tank and give it a once over then start testing stuff with it when I get back.
Just tuned on a PC3 USB and a multi hub for the nitrous output and map switch. No ignition module as I'm too cheap to buy a new one and the few times I saw good deals on used ones I was too slow to scoop it up. Would like to get an ignition module though and see if I could make more power with it on motor. These newer bikes just make sooooo much more power than me stockish than me with every little bolt on I can buy haha |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MKZo7zoKKw&hd=1 After digging into it a little bit it seemed like the nitrous was leaking a bit from the t fitting which is right before the nitrous goes into the air box. I replaced the nylon line with brass line and it doesn't seem to leak any more. Took a quick video and I've never bench tested nitrous like that but it looks good to me, what does everybody else think? |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
Looks good.
I bet you had a leak and a shitty noid |
Re: 2006 Yamaha R1
looks like 155+ mph bike!:ring:
