All the ones I've seen so far look like utter garbage. I'd just leave them alone.

Re: GSXTACY

I'm talking about a proper looking retrofit - one that looks OEM.

http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192448

I guess I'll be the first one here to do it

Ugh, leave well enough alone on one of the few nice remaining 2G's... Get some Silverstar Ultra bulbs and call it good.

Re: GSXTACY

I don't think that will happen with David, but I don't think it will be bad either.

I'm not talking about riced out eBay headlights. I'm talking about a proper looking (OEM) projector retrofit.

Sorry, but I'm not driving this car on the roads up here at night with these crappy head lights. I already put Silverstar Ultras in it.

If you think the above car looks ricey then you're out of your mind IMO.

This is the retro I did into my RX-7:

Tell me how this looks bad:

Thanks. At least someone gets it.

Re: GSXTACY

Normally people have no complaints about the stock bulbs. Its usually the other way around. People bitching that the light projection on hids is stupid bad. Do what Kracka said and just get new bulbs. Save your money for some tires since you like to brake boost spin them off LOL

EDIT: Ignore what I said you chimed in before I posted.

No that does not look bad at all

Re: GSXTACY

I've had retrofits in all of my cars so that probably has something to do with it :)

I think retrofits look good as long as they look OEM. That's my rule for any car mod, in general.

I don't make it a practice to beat on it, but hey - that's what it's there for every once in a while.

I do not have a tig but I know a few people who do. That sounds like a pretty sage solution.

The nipple coming out of the t-stat housing is steel. Like JET said... He just crimped his and welded it shut.

You could do that, or put a small piece of round stock steel or small bolt in and weld it up with a regular mig welder. Anything is better than the rubber cap that is meant for vacuum vs coolant.

Re: GSXTACY

I usually weld them or fill them with JB Weld and let that actually seal it and then put a rubber cap on it. Even brand new those caps often can't hold back the pressure. I had one blow off a car on dyno and the stream cut a hole in the radiator.

You should make one for my car!

That sucks, owned.

I suppose you could do it that way, it would just look like ass. I pulled that steel nipple out and threaded it, nice and clean.

Re: GSXTACY

Nah, it honestly looks pretty good if you take a little time on it. I cut it 1/2 way off, then crimped it perfectly horizontal and ran a very small bead on it. I then painted it black and it is underneath the T-stat housing you don't even notice it.

They're already taken, by another 1998 GSX down here in the cities.

That stupid POS plug popped off again last night. Once again I caught it in time, but enough is enough. I'm going to put a 1G N/A housing which is the same without the water outlets. I'm going to do that tonight or tomorrow.

Ricer roll race against a 600AWHP (on RS Motors' dyno) Evo 8 (with bias ply radials and a cage):

He was running 40PSI through a 2.0 and a PTE6262. I must say I was happy with my pig rich, stock timing 25PSI daily driver against that :)
