of course I took Scheides advice .... I couldn't pony up the dough for Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi

But I did get a set of 235 45 17....

Also I got sick of looking at this ...
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...771941_o-1.jpg

So I found a set of brand new center caps... only $13 each :/

Not the coolest looking things in the world but a lot better than not having them
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2at93019PM.png

I've also called every place that powdercoats wheels w/i a 1 hour drive.

Average price is $60/wheel including sand blasting. Luckily the cheapest place... is the closest at $50/ wheel. So If i'm going to spend the $200+tax to have the enkeis powder coated it needs to be worth it.

I allready have a dark wheel so help me narrow it down between these ...
1.Bronze/Gold
2.White
3.Red

EXAMPLES:
Bronze/Gold?

White?
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2at94852PM.png

And i'm sure that most people are going to hate but i'm really attracted to it.
Red?

Maybe the enkeis wont look as good as those wheels but it works great for them.

CHIME IN!! I want to know some opinions for the wheel colors

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

Dear god not white or red. Also not a huge gold fan. I would choose a deep bronze myself. I loved how deep bronze looked on my Talon. Maybe even a flat deep bronze.

I would do a charcoal.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

I vote red.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

1. Black or gunmetal w/ or w/o red time attack lip
2. Darker shade of bronze like the first car

Also keep us posted on where you go and how you like the job/price/turnaround time.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

Why are you powdercoating them again? I vote skip it...they are winter wheels, let them be stock, nicked-up silver color....save your money for other stuff :)

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

matte bronze plz. Same as Enkei puts on some of their wheels, same kind of color Halon is talking about.

something like this looks ( . Y . ) on a red car:

Yea Id just leave them alone, they are winter wheels and will be covered up with crap most of the time anyway.

No red or white if you do anything. I like the bronze or gold or silver.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

Give them a throwback to the old car and paint them lime green!

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

Just rattle can them what ever color you pic. Can just touch them up if they chip out after a year or two, not worth the cost of Powder Coating, imho.

I vote black or gunmetal.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

Anything but black or bronze...WAY played-out.

+1

Winter wheels are winter wheels. They'll get dirty extremely quickly during the winter. A very few rims I've worked on when I was at Discount Tires would also 'leak' near the bead because of corrosion but more then likely, it shouldn't leak. Red on Red is a hit and miss for me ;). Do white if you like to clean it weekly. Haha. Because my friend has white rims and man, he is tired of cleaning it pretty much every week. That color rim that Goodhart posted would definitely look ( . Y . )'s. :)

Winter Tires arrived :)

I honestly would have left them the way they were and saved the money but the wheels were originally sand blasted and then painted but the proper prep work wasn't done so it oxidized under the paint. half the paint peeled off exposing the raw material and they would have been in a world of hurt after a winter.

Look at the bottom of the wheel in the pic to see how bad it is...

Btw that's dustin, he's a style member :)

On the plus side they ARE getting the throw back... OEM Eagle center caps :)

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

Ahh I see....see I would have just taken a sharpee to the chipped/flaking paint and scribbled it in to cover it up! :D :D :D

Seriously though yea, I can see why you'd want to clean them up with a little PC'ing.

Also...jealous...epic snow tires are epic..

Glad you got the Generals. I ran them all last winter on my 1g and was amazed at how much control they gave you. Even won an ice rallyx event for non-studded.

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

E-85 in the winter.

I've ran E-85 in my DSM for 2 summers but NEVER in the winter. I know they change the formula around a bit in the winter but how is the evo going to start when it's below zero?

It has precision 1200cc injectors. This morning it was around 38F at camp ripley when I started it and I had to let it turn over a bit before it started.

Should I switch back to pump gas for the winter? Or will it be better once they get on the winter blend?

Re: The Brian Spilner ..... EVO

I've driven e85 for the past few winters without much problems except when I ran aem ems in my silver evo. You can have someone play with your coldstart tables and you will have little to no problems with corn in the winter months.

Make sure you're battery is good for winter too. That's what got me at drill last winter.
