It just doesn't look right without the wing. Especially with the vortex generator on there.

Re: Finally got my Evo
Had some fun with the car this weekend. I loaded Tephra v5.10 on the car with the over the phone assistance of Hughes and Scheides (thanks so much again!!) I didn't do the valet mode, cause it's just ghey unless you do valet on a regular basis. I did enable the knock CEL, and disabled the stupid P0300 Random Misfire code that seems to be pretty common actually.
I tried to do NLTS, and every time I would try it, it would cut really hard, like boost cut. After double, triple, and quadruples checking all the values/tables in ECU Flash, and figuring out that the car would only act like this when NLTS was activated in ECU Flash, Scheides had the idea of checking the upper clutch switch. (The one that tells the car the clutch is all the way to the top) Sure thing, the switch (It's a little plunger style switch for those that may not know) is about 1/16"-1/8" from being depressed all the way when the clutch is at the top of it's throw, so the car thought the clutch was part way in, enabling NLTS too early. So, I'm going to try to bend whatever little bracket this switch may be on, so it gets depressed all the way in. If that doesn't work, I have a pretty sweet little idea that may or may not include some Billy Mays magic ;) I put the wing back on, and installed one of my Kracka Vents (the rear one was hard to get to at the time with the car being hot). And earlier this week, I brought the car in to a local audio shop ( I hate wiring with a passion, and this car was an absolute nightmare) and had them figure out all the massive amounts of wiring from one of the previous owners huge systems. The guy had a in dash DVD player/carputer, component speakers in the front, some kind of JL Audio rear speakers, subs in the trunk and some other crap. When I got the car, it had a stock deck that didn't work  So, they yanked all the crap that was un-needed out of the car, and put in a cheapy Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494 Deck and hook up the MA crossovers to the front components. Sounds alright now, 100% better than having no sound thats for sure! But I think I will be looking for a sub setup, and a 4 channel amp for the other main speakers over the winter, it needs just a hair more bass. Anyone have an SSL Sub box laying around? I kind of want to have the stockish look, and take up as little room as possible. http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...ivers/KDC-X494 |
Re: Finally got my Evo
Awesome progress. But why 5.10, out of curiosity? Are version numbers different for IXs?
NLTS is a fucking pain sometimes, but it makes WOT amazing. Well worth it. |
Re: Finally got my Evo
When it's cutting like that you probably have your foot just barely hovering over/touching the clutch. Turn it on, do a pull with your foot beside it, and see how it acts.
Edit; nvm. Should have ready your whole post. |

NLTS is awesome, I bet you'll love it once you fix your switch! It does take some getting used to though so be patient with it. |

Had had some part-throttle troubles with it initially, but the car hasn't bucked on me for it for a long time now. Really trains you to keep your foot off the clutch unless you're using it. |
Re: Finally got my Evo
Round one of mods will start over the winter, I figured I could steal some parts off of the Talon since that is a 99% chance of getting parted out now.
Parts off Talon: -FIC 1350cc injectors -DB Performance MBC (I can sell this Blitz EBC for a couple hundred bucks) -Supertech dual valve springs (kind of overkill, but they are essentially free since I already have them) -RPF1's (need tires, but these wouldn't go in till summer anyways) AEM analog boost and wideband gauges Small Battery (I'll be getting a Primo battery tray for this) Then since my Walbro 255's won't work in the Evo, I'll probably get one of those along with a Megan O2 housing and possibly a FMIC. No hurry on any of this, I'll probably slowly accumulate the parts over the winter and see how things go, then get a Shane tune in the spring. I'll probably try out map switching and get pump & E85 tunes. |

Re: Finally got my Evo
Does it shift better now?
|
Re: Finally got my Evo
Shift amazing. Thanks again for that Kerry, forgot to mention that when I picked up my t-case for the DSM Saturday, we bled the piss out of my clutch, installed the Rosey Clutch fork stopper, and I had Kerry adjust my clutch pedal because with my effed up hand, I couldn't get my hand with the wrench in the right position to adjust it.
I think engagement could maybe be a tad lower, but this is working good for now. :) |
Re: Finally got my Evo
where do people get these 'kracka' vents?

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5125/...7cb12eb7_z.jpg Got the pump last week from MAP ($80 shipped!), yanked the injectors last weekend. Found out I need the specified seats and seals for the dual valve springs. Not sure how hard that is or if it can be done without yanking the head. I am gonna try to keep that good old "factory seal" as long as I can, it worked pretty well for Hughes and Jim :D Also been doing research on tires quite a bit, leaning towards putting some Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec's on the RPF1's. They seem to be the best tire for a daily driver/very occasional track use and still be worth a damn in the rain. Pretty sure I'll be able to get 2 summers out of them with doing maybe 1-2 autox's a year and a handful of trips to the drag strip, which I would be happy with. I plan on waiting until closer to spring to see if anything new comes out though, and maybe jump on a clearance sale of last years tires. As far as the E85 stuff goes, I'll be waiting till spring for that. 50 more HP wouldn't really be all that useful until then anyways, and by then I should have more money for a tune from my Talon part-out so it won't put any strain on the wallet. Until then, I'll probably start collecting the other small stuff I need/want for the car like; -Gauge pod -small battery tray -Alt Map switch -Omni 4 BAR Map sensor -Megan o2 -Some FMIC, leaning towards an Ebay special OBX. Has cast end tanks, its the Perrin knockoff, should do decent enough for my small setup. -I would like to get a different LICP, probably a Muse Motorsports one unless I can find a good used one for cheaper. -Brakes. Going to go with the rotorpros blanks coated in black with probably some Girodisc magic pads. |
