I love harriers. Too bad they are Marine and Royal Navy only......
And Royal Air Force. They had em out in Kuwait when I was there.
Whats the difference? They both use the same planes (Harriers and the Eurofighter Typhoon). Just that the RAF has the Tornado and doesnt use funky carriers.

Halon 05-02-2004 10:45 PM

Are u asking what's the difference between the Royal Airforce and the Royal Navy? Well one is the Navy and one is the Airforce. One is sea based, one is land based. That's the difference. Yes they RAF has Tornados, they had those in Kuwait too. First time I'd ever seen em. Looks like you've accomplished a lot with the military by the looks of your Profile Pic. Keyword being "LOOKS LIKE"!!!! ROTC hands out rank and awards like it's candy! im just messin with ya tho man. I got a whoppin 5 ribbons, soon to be 6. And I should pick up Sergeant around Jan-Mar 2005. I do have more pics, but it's not of anything interesting. Just more pics of our site and people you don't know.

Goat Blower 05-02-2004 11:17 PM

Good job. It's always nice to see some pics of what's going on over there. Makes me want to break out my old Navy pics.

Im making fun of the RAF and Royal Navy.......how about we forget I said anything at all? Obviously my sarcasm is pretty lame and only I can understand it. And I knew that the RAF has Tornadoes, very well developed for their time, a bit outdated tho. But, for the ribbons, I have 17 and are on a spaced rack, so it looks like i have about 25. I get shit at my school for that all the time. And I know you are just playin, but at my school, we actually have to earn our rank. We do promotions at the semester and you have to earn it. But the requirements are pretty lame, so, yea, like candy. yum yum. O yea, BTW, you will be gettin 8, There has been 2 new ribbons and medals being certified. One is for being in the military on Sept. 11th, and another one is for being active on on 9/11. So, If you enlisted or something on Sept. 10th 2001, you would get at least 1 automatic medal and ribbon. They come in a 2 pack. And Vapour, where do you go to school that has JROTC? I'd like to know.

CDH

you?
(can I guess... you go to STA?)

Halon 05-03-2004 08:50 PM

I've been in since 2000. I've heard nothing about September 11th ribbons. Plus I don't see why we would get ribbons for being in the military on September 11th. I mean, it's not like we did anything. Yes we got attacked. But what did we do that day to earn ourselves a ribbon. I mean they blew up some buildings and killed lots of people, and for this I get 2 ribbons? I don't see that happening. The only other ribbons I should be getting someday is the Iraqi Freedom one, and Enduring Freedom one once they come out. Oh and also an overseas ribbon after i've been in Japan awhile. Right now I have the National Defense, Overseas Expeditionary, Good Conduct, PUC, GWOT, and I'll have a NAM here before I leave for Japan. Promotions every semester? Geez, I was a private for 6 months, then a PFC for 8, then a LCpl for over 2 years. I wish we got ribbons and promotions every semester. I still to this day will never forget when an ROTC runt came up to me in Pensacola and asked why I didn't salute him because he was a warrant officer. Man whatta fruit! But just wondering, do u plan on joining the military? If so what branch? Anyway don't take anything I say harshly, I'm not trying to degrade you, it's just most ROTC people I meet think they are the sh!t because they have all these decorations and a high rank, but in reality the military is not as easy.

Blade 05-03-2004 09:07 PM

Also about the hangars. Yes there are hangars there, and a normal ATC tower. But I can guarantee you that this was the middle of nowhere. It's a tiny ARMY base called YPG. That's all that is there. The population of that base is prolly about 200. And we weren't even on the base really, we were just at their lil airfield. The base is where the ARMY jump school trains. So there are a couple hangars for their little prop airplanes. The base has a grocery store, a qwikemart thing, and one tiny dinner called the Cactus Cafe. That's it. And that was all about 15 minutes away from where we were. To me, that is the middle of nowhere. No showers, no bathrooms (they supplied us with portajohns tho!!), MRE's for food, sleep on a cot on a dirt floor, had a few sandstorms out there, it just isn't a whole lotta fun. But it was the last one I'll ever have to go on!!! YEAH OK WHAT!!!!
More then likely We supply you with your Food.

I want to say 31% of our business is actually Military. I know when I started 5years ago we were the Major Supplier for all Armed Forces. don't know if we still are (since I'm now in to computers vs Buying)

Why? it's actually quite interesting Reading.

I've been a fan of Military Airplanes since I was a kid. (Loved the pictures BTW)

Went to Woodword (sp) skate boarding camp. IN PA I think it was? any rate F4phantoms used to wake us up every morning. They'd be doing highspeed "Canyon" Runs was awsome to watch.

The camp was built right at one of there Turn point so we got to see them Bank at high speed all the time.

When I was in Private School in CT. there was an AT10(?) tant killer base near by and they'd do mock landings over our Soccer Fields and Every day at the end of there training sessions or something they'd alwasy do some really cool patern menouver for there last flight of the day.

Basically there would be 4-5 of them flying at a time and the last flight of the day they'd all come in at probably 500 feet (seemed like they were going to hit the trees) in an Arrow Head looking lineup and right as they'd hit the end of our Soccer Fields they'd All Break a differen direction and go WOT.

The coolest thing I loved was the one that would go straight up till you couldn't see him anymore. While the other's Banked Left or Rigth and did a 180.

The USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II aka the "Warthog" Tank Buster. One of the uglist planes ever developed, hence the name warthog. Despite its ugly looks, its one of the deadlist planes ever developed. On the nose, The 30mm 6 barrel Vulcan cannon with armour piercing shells, can do a tank in with only a few hits. Hence the second nickname, "Tank Buster". Along with the 30mm, it can also carry a wide variety of smart and dumb bombs, as well as anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles. The white missiles you see in the undercarriage are the AGM-65 Maverick missile, an guided anti-tank missile. Those are fun and will make a whole lotta dead.

You have the AGM-65s, AIM-9 Sidewinders, and a FLIR (forward-looking infared radar)pod, and some dumb bombs. Very leathal :bounce: BTW, the arrowhead formation is called a wedge formation. Sorry, just had to throw that in.

Halon 05-04-2004 05:55 PM

What website you pull at that crap off? Go outside, do something man!

Matt D. 05-05-2004 12:00 AM

Here's some more, have fun.

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/a-10.htm

That is the best site ever for military weapon info.

JDM 05-05-2004 02:09 AM

That's some great stuff!

My best friend got back from Iraq in Jan, and he's got some cool pics. He's in the transportation unit out of Buffalo MN, Army Reserve.

That camel spider looks fucked up. I hate spiders. Eesch.

I guess I'm just a big pussy

Halon 05-05-2004 02:32 PM

Those Camel Spiders are scarey as hell. They are prolly about the size of your thumb, but oh man they look so mean. Supposidely they have some sort of venom they put on you, it numbs the area, and then breakfast commences without you even feeling a thing. They've had bad cases where they get on people while they're sleeping and just eat away. But when you piss em off, they open their mouths and point their ass up and forward at you and shake and stuff. It's freaky. Especially cuz their mouths are like 4 jaws, it opens like 4 ways. That make sense?

SlowWhite 05-05-2004 02:39 PM

How do you guys protect yourselves from being Bitten.

I'm a "HUGE" aracniphob(sp) and my parents moved to S.C. And they have these freaking spiders that I think are called Banana spiders that are the size of your "Fist". And they think they are going to get me to move down there. YA RIGHT!

JDM 05-05-2004 02:42 PM

When I was in TX, I saw the biggest f-ing spider outside of a zoo in my entire life

Big Mama Tarantuala walking across a driveway. Thing was probably 6 inches in diameter (legspan). Now that's fucked up.
