Kevin, you should be thanking Shep your trans lasted three years.

Damn am I glad my dsm's gone.

I am complaining I spent a lot of money ($2000 IS A LOT TO ME) and I thought I'd get a lot more use out of it at my very low power levels.

You should find another game to play if you can't afford this one.

What are you even saying? What is the point of saying that in this thread? Because I don't like the idea of throwing another $3,000 at my car to get it back on the road and enjoy it? Sorry if I'm a little bummed that this tranny died.

I'm saying sooner or later, you will realize all you do with these cars is throw money at them, break shit, break shit because you're pissed, and throw more money at them.

A DSM isn't for everyone. It takes a lot of perseverance and patience to modify/maintain one. Hence why I sold my first DSM when I was 18. I just didn't know what it took.
The frustration, the money spent and the broken knuckles are all a part of owning one. But getting behind the wheel of one makes all the shit storms worth it.

Kevin, I would feel the same way if I were in your shoes. Are you gonna try to get another Shep, or try to find something else?

Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3

I emailed Shep the other day, John Shepard replied a few hours later. He has a few interesting suggestions and offers.

One thing I will point out, he said Syncromesh is way too thin to protect the gears under heavy loads like freeway pulls. Ooops.

My Prism is pending sale tomorrow AM, guy put $500 cash down to hold it.

Should be getting some goodies pretty soon if all pans out :) aka twin and a stg 4.

Well the Prism is sold :)

And after you have done this about 16 times (literally), on my back, going slow as heck, 2.5 hrs later the tranny is out.

Isn't this a typical picture...

Decisions, decisions. Do I even need a twin? My car isn't showing signs of slipping, but I just can't launch hard. I secretly want to blame the clutch. But no symptoms.

The only thing I don't like about my twin is the noise from the unsprung disc's.

Dunno what the trouble is launching that thing is. I launched mine with the 61 on it a few times, you gotta give it a split second of slip while you let it out off the launch limiter, by that time you should be shredding the tires.
