Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Exhaust (just the downpipe, that is!) should be here this week, but today it's official: Anna got her fast!

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Thanks Kracka for helping me slap this on today! Fitment was pretty good except for the stupid vband clamp/flange. Dunno why but it jsut didn't want to seal 100% w/o quite a bit of finagling. Pipe also could have been about 1" longer, but the factory slip/butt fit clamp took care of that. For $187 shipped it was worth every penny!
We buttoned it up just as anna was gonna bring her sister home, and I asked her to see how she liked it. She got back and said she couldn't really tell the if it felt faster because the traction control light was blinking nonstop whenever she would step on the gas! LOL! It's raining out today and traction has been an issue in 2nd and sometimes 3rd depending on the surface. Now wheelspin in 3rd gear is nonstop! I'll comment more on this when it dries up. Now onto the pics: http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_8140.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_8141.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_8142.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_8143.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_8144.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_8146.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_0356.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_0357.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_0358.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_0359.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/IMG_0361.sized.jpg Dyno in 2 weeks at our fall dyno day! |
Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
V-bands are retarded, but other than that things went together pretty smoothly! Like all eBay exhausts the quality and welds were top-notch. The car isn't any louder, but it definitely has more torque and higher peak-boost!
|
Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
go traction light the mini got it through 4th today
|
Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Special thanks to Jordan (owner of mnaudi.com)! We went out logging the car today and the exhaust proved to be VERY beneficial. Boost is up and consistantly higher, N75(boost control) duty cycle is DOWN meaning turbo (and N75) is not working as hard to make boost!

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
updates?

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
?

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
That is some quality looking exhaust for ebay.
|
Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
my buddy wants to order the same stuff but he wants "real world" numbers! so SHEIDES PLEASE UPDATE!!!
|
Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Jeebuz! I didn't see this bumped, sorry ;)
Let's see, since the update I had VW change the DSG tranny fluid since it was the dead of winter and -20 out and the drain plug is the same as the fill plug (imagine that ;) )...while the car was in there they went ahead and reflashed the ecu 'for a recall'....as you can imagine anna was less than impressed due to the lack of boost/tune anymore :( The local EPL dealer promises to have direct port working in the next few weeks so we'll be getting some updated software along with that. The car did put down numbers at the dyno day last fall, unfortunately MAP couldn't figure out how to hook up the tach signal so no torque numbers were mapped: http://www.scheides.com/albums/gli/A...cker.sized.jpg Full size: http://www.scheides.com/gallery/gli/...edecker?full=1 Anyways, the car ran a little inconsistent on the dyno and had been on the street, I hope the new software fixes that, it was ever so slightly annoying, the BOV mods and downpipe made the thing want to run a lot more boost than the ecu did, so it would dial it back constantly. I'm hoping for 200whp on DB's dyno (dyno day hopefully?) and eager to see torque numbers....with these mods the car is FUN to drive and feels very torquey, supposedly 250wtq on a mustang dyno. With a few mods, this car is fun. |

With all the mods and no chip the car is still fairly fun to drive, just not as torquey. Def worth the money. jhaan_dude, if your buddy is shopping, there is another intake on the market that I'd get over the neuspeed one now. It has a recirc port built in so you can do the BOV mods I did w/o hacking stuff up too bad. |

It's a little more than the neuspeed (shop around) but with add the OEM DV block-off, an off-the shelf DSM or evo BOV, and a 90' silicone coupler and you have your bullet-proof BOV mod and the car holds boost soooo much better. That kit is nice because it has some shields to block hot air coming from the rest of the engine bay. Here's the OEM DV block-off: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=FSI |
Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
Im going to have to start one of these threads soon. :)

Re: Anna's VW GLI DSG
