Oh yeah I forgot to ask you yesterday why you couldn't get those on!

That does look sweet. I'm guessing my home-made jobbie won't look nearly that nice, but I'm cheap, so that's the main guideline. Only EVO guys spend lots of money on "body tuning". :-)

The head on those fancy fastners are a little too big for where they put the holes on the lips. Little interference issue. I told him to just JB Weld em on :)

Looks awesome, I am guessing no chance for a DSM version?

Re: Custom Undertrays

Ya I might just drill some holes just behind where they were supposed to mount and bolt them on there. Not sure why I didn't think of that while I had it all apart! Either way I love the new undertray; the car is actually quieter at cruise, due to the improved aerodynamic efficiency (I think?), and my engine is protected from nasty flying chunks of ice :(

Why havent we seen this for the 1gs and 2gs? I was looking at doing something similar to my car the other day. while laying on my back looking up at the transmission and such. seems like all you would need is a good pattern and a good way of attachment without hitting anything necessary.

He has Generals.

Re: Custom Undertrays

The Hanook W409's you're talking about are rip-offs of Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi's. The Nokian's are around $200/tire for the size I want. The W409's were about $100/tire last year, and went up to $140/tire this year, due to their success.

The general's are rated the same, and cost about $100/tire and you will notice, they are strikingly similar tread pattern :)

Looks very nice. Can you buy it without the rear section? Autocross rules for my class don't allow undertrays that go beyond the front of the wheel well.

Re: Custom Undertrays

Heh, here's the bag of crap I didn't use thanks to the dzus fasteners! I can't imagine having to unbolt all of this stuff to get the bottom off, it'd be a NIGHTMARE!

http://www.scheides.com/albums/evo-u...9268.sized.jpg

The flaps that go in front of the tires did not get put on. The way they mount did not work with the dzus fasteners, so I think I'm gonna just drill some extra holes about 1" back from where they're supposed to be mounted and just bolt them to the tray. As originally designed, they'd go where the two dzus fasteners are, just in front of the wheels. I'm told they have a tremendous effect on aero, so I'll be taking the time to get them fit (sooner or later :) ).

No, but you could just install it and drop the rear section for oil changes and auto-x's. I have mine held on with 4x dzus fasteners. If you're going to be changing tires for the autox anyways, just reach under and pop it off as you put on the front tires. This would literally take 30 seconds if the car was already up in the air.
