I think it not having AWD makes it cool. We don't get a lot of turbo 4 cylinder RWD cars.

Here's another thing. That RWD tranny should bolt up for use in older applications. :-) Finally, something better than a Starion tranny or TH350.

I want one. These are pretty damn sexy. I will wait a couple years, buy one used for like 12k and mod the hell out of it. Sounds like a hella fun car.

Young grasshopper, you have much reading to do. |
Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
So the nearest Hyundai dealer says they can have one by the end of Feb... Sooooooo tempting. Anyone else looking to scoop one of these up?
I will be test driving one for sure but I dont know if I want a car payment again. Edit: I was reading that they were talking about making a convertible model in 2010... Interesting. |
Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Old news....
I have been following and posting about this car as have others for awhile! Hyundai's plant here is one of the most automated manufacturing plants in the country, they run lights out. It is very sophisticated and neat! I have been eyeing these up with thoughts of interchangeble parts with the new evo and such, RWD would be fun, Brembos and Limited slip are optional, so you can get a base model 4 banger with the cool stuff. Hyundai even let a lot of aftermarket companys get a sneak peak at these cars; they all went right to the turbo 4 model! I guess there is a motor mount in the way that might limit turbo size, but eh I'm sure someone could fab a manifold to get around it. |

Just curious who has been looking at them and to see if there is anything else new with them. I'm quite interested. |
Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
From everything I've read, all I have ever heard 100% is that the car will have a 4b11, and it will be turbo. BUT, there is the standard 4b11, and the beefed up 4b11t that went into the evo's. What I have not heard 100% is if this car will have the beefed up 4b11t, or just the standard (not as beefy) 4b11 with a turbo slapped on it.
If you have links, please share because I really want to know. This would be an awesome car to have I think. |
Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Shit, this car is coming out that soon!?

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
I was just thinking about this the other day. haha I didn't know they were planning on releasing it already! I might have to look into it...

But yeah, moving the turbo location isn't a problem. |
Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
I've been doing some research on this car tonight, and it looks like there's plenty of room for upgraded turbos. It looks like the turbo is some variant of a TD04, and the manifold looks like it'll need to be upgraded pretty with the turbo. Judging by the size of the exhaust ports, I don't think head flow will be an issue.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Damn... What is a 14b going to be the first upgrade? At least its not reverse flow like Evo's.
