Re: My arms feel like they've been detached from my body
if protein breaks down the bones, then wouldn't the calcium go to the kidneys, which could result in failure and/or kidney stones?
does anyone know if creatine and protein's fight for the same receptors in muscle tissue? I really want to find this out and can't believe alot of online crap. What are peoples maxs and reps for: squat bench cleans pull ups sit ups something else???? -Colin |

Didnt you join the Reserves? If so you want to do push-ups. I think the military standard in basic training is 50 something in two minutes. Or rather, that is the bare minimum. I found a website that has a pretty good routine that isnt very hard to follow.
http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/F...2/100push.html When doing them keep your back straight, head up, and touch your chest to the ground. If you cant complete the "week 1" workout, dont be afraid to do as much of it as you can and then go to your knees and finish. Just repeat the wk1 workout until you no longer have to go to your knees. |

I can of chicken from costco, approx 5 oz. Some creamette pasta Ragu reduced fat cheesy alfredo sauce. I usually go light on the pasta, as it is just their to help balance the meal, but it comes out to about 600-700 calories depending on amount of pasta, and sauce, and has around 80g of protein, and is delicious. Also, it is pretty cheap for what you get, a can of chicken is $2, pasta is $1 for like 10 servings, and sauce is $1.75 for like 8-10 servings. Quote:
I don't generally go for maxes as I am in the middle of a program that has me focusing on 5 rep sets, but I will be going for maxes in about 3 weeks. maxs and reps for: squat 290 x 3 reps bench 185 x 6 reps pull ups 15-20 depending on where in my workout I do them, if I am fresh it is more. sit ups I only do them with weights, but I could crank out a shitload if I did them unweighted Pushups I can easily knock out 60-70, but don't really ever do them because I do bench instead Curls 90 x 6 reps, never even tried to max Close Grip Bench 150 x 6 reps, never tried to max Shugs 265 x 4, couldn't hold much more w/o straps, but could do more weight. Thats all I can think of right now, but I don't think it is too bad for a guy who is 6'3", 190lbs and has been lifting for a year, and before that had been in a weighroom less that a dozen times. |

in excess it can become a problem. My friend got kidneys stones(he doesn't lift), yet he rarely drinks milk. When I say rarely, I mean, maybe a glass every 3 months. His biggest intake would be cheese, and he doesn't really like that either. They just happen sometimes. as for lifts i never maxout anymore, it causes me to lose about a week of lifting as when I overstrain, it causes some nasty soreness. squat - not sure, I do not do normal squats anymore. My max at one time was 355, but i think with 100% proper form, 315 was my max. bench - most I ever did was 3 sets of 4@205 - i think on a sheet that came out to 245 or 255. clean - never done one pulls ups - 32, but no lateral motion with my toes curled up with my chin about 4-6 inches from a bar. Give it a try, it's a PITA but does wonders. situps - not sure. I do 35 degree inclines in sets of 30. if I tried normal situps. I am not sure. i lift right now to get my body ready for heavy load lifting, right now it is still in tournament shape, which is high rep, explosive speed. It's slowly changing to, low rep, tsunami of power. |
Re: My arms feel like they've been detached from my body
My reps/weights as of monday/tuesday:
squat: 315lbs 1x10 355 1x8 and 385 1x5 bench:135lbs 1x10 155 1x8 and 165 1x5 cleans: 275lbs 3x5 pull ups: 3x3 sit ups: 25x5 on incline situp's Steeltwo you should find somewhere to do cleans. It helps your expolsive speed tenfold. Just make sure you do it right, like 80% of the people i see doing them in the weightroom are doing them wrong. Also on Tuesday, Thursday I run 3-5 miles depending on how sore I am. On Saturday and Sunday I run 5-7 miles with the marines, and do some hardcore situps. -Colin |
Re: My arms feel like they've been detached from my body
I used to like doing power cleans in HS. Now i'm all out of shape, lol. My max for most is about half of the average here.
Squat: Measly 220 x 1 (my most hated workout, but most needed) Bench: 175 x 1 (goal is 200 by July) Cleans: been a while, but last year I was at 165 x 1 Pull ups: 15-20 (guess) Sit ups: havent counted Man, I really need to get back in shape again. Shouldnt be as hard for me compared to bigger guys, since I'm only 5'9@140 lbs. I'm still sore from Tuesday's workout :(. Maybe I'll follow up on that push-up routine up there. Sounds like something I could do at night. |

You should be able to get that bench as long as you eat big and lift big, I have put 10 more lbs on my bench in the last month while losing weight. Being on a cutting diet is terrible for trying to make gains, but somehow I am doing it. And yes, some exercises will be easier for you, leverage is a bitch, bench with long ass arms isn't fun at all. |
Re: My arms feel like they've been detached from my body
Squats out of all workouts get me tired the quickest for some reason, but I'm working on it. It might make it easier for me to drive with the 2600 pp :). Heck yeah, benching with long arms suck. My real workout routine starts next week when my soreness goes away.

I love doing squats! I just can't do them with much weight.
